PP/PS joint AVO analysis and inversion are useful and powerful methods to discriminate between reservoir and non-productive lithology. In this paper, we derive a new PS-wave reflection coefficient approximation equation which is more accurate at larger incidence angles. The equation is simplified for small incidence angles, which makes AVO analysis clearer and easier for angles less than 30 degrees. Based on this approximation, a PP/PS joint inversion is introduced. A real data example shows that oil sands, brine sands and shales can be differentiated based on the P- to S-wave velocity ratio from the PP/PS joint inversion. Fluid factors and Poisson's ratio also indicate an anomaly in the target zone at the oil well location.展开更多

There are three models for AEZ, AEZ-core, AEZ-tiny and AEZ-prf. In this paper, we consider the security of AEZprf for AEZ v4.2, the latest version of AEZ.Our major finding is a collision of any 256-bit associated data for AES-prf. Then we launch collision attacks in a quantum setting and a classical setting respectively under different assumptions. In the quantum setting, by Simon's quantum algorithm, we amount a forgery with O(n) quantum superposition queries and an overwhelming probability close to 1.In the classical setting, one with the key of AEZ-prf can also construct the forgeries. Our results show that the AEZ-prf models of AEZ v4.2 is not secure in both the quantum setting and classical world. Furthermore, our results can also be applied to AEZ v3, which has been published on Eurocrypt 2015. As far as we know, no cryptanalysis of AEZ v4.2 has been published so far.展开更多

The effects of the bright band on radar-based QPE can be eliminated by vertical profile of reflectivity (VPR) correction. In this study, we applied bright-band correction algorithms to evaluate three different bands (S-, C- and X-band) of dual-polarized radars and to reduce overestimation errors in Z-R relationship-based QPEs. After the reflectivity was corrected by the algo- rithms using average VPR (AVPR) alone and a combination of average VPR and the vertical profile of the copolar correlation coefficient (AVPR+CC), the QPEs were derived. The bright-band correction and resulting QPEs were evaluated in eight precipitation events by comparing to the uncorrected reflectivity and rain-gange observations, separately. The overestimation of Z-R relationship-based QPEs associated with the bright band was reduced after correction by the two schemes for which hourly rainfall was less than 5 mm. For the verification metrics of RMSE (root-mean-square error), RMAE (relative mean absolute error) and RMB (relative mean bias) of QPEs, averaged over all eight cases, the AVPR method improved from 2.28, 0.94 and 0.78 to 1.55, 0.60 and 0.40, respectively, while the AVPR+CC method improved to 1.44, 0.55 and 0.30, respectively. The QPEs after AVPR+CC correction had less overestimation than those after AVPR correction, and similar conclusions were drawn for all three different bands of dual-polarized radars.展开更多

Additionally, detailed joint measurements of underground coal seams were taken at two coal mines. This study investigated the effects of seam thickness, lithology, and structure on joint development and established the relationship between joint development of coal and rock seams, which allowed predictions of predominant joint densities for the No.5 coal seam in the southeastern margin of the Ordos basin. The results show that outcrop and underground coal seams exhibit the same joint systems as rock seams. The joints are mainly upright. Predominant joints strike 55° on average, followed by joints striking 320°. The joint density of the coal seam is 18.7–22.5 times that of the sandstone seam at the same thickness. The predominant joint density of the No.5 coal seam, controlled by the structure, is 4–20 joints per meter. Joint densities exhibit high values at intersecting areas of faults and folds and decrease values in structurally stable areas. The permeability increases exponentially with increasing density of the predominant joints.展开更多
