This study was designed to inve...Cationic polyethylenimine (PEI) with dextran fluorescein anionic (DFA) or oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) could form polyelectrolyte complex by self-assembly as a gene delivery vector. This study was designed to investigate the effects on pharmaceutical characteristics and cell uptake PEI after a long-circulation modification with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG). DFA or ODN reacted with PEI or PEI-PEG to form polyelectrolyte complexes. Surface characters of these complexes and the retardation of ODN by PEI and PEI-PEG were evaluated. The uptake rates of DFA/PEI and DFA/PEI-PEG complexes by MCF-7 cells were evaluated by flow cytometry. Confocal laser scanning microscopy was utilized to visualize the internalization of these complexes. ODN/PEI complex showed the dependence of their size and ξ potential on the N/P ratio. ODN/PEI-PEG complex were much less affected by N/P ratio and their size was around 30 100 nm. PEI and PEI-PEG retarded ODN even at N/P ratio as low as 4, and complete retardation was found at N/P ratio of 8. The uptake rate by MCF-7 cells was direct correlated to the DFA concentration and incubation time, and the uptake rate could exceed 99% under the selected condition. The results in this study showed that PEI self-assembly polyelectrolyte complex after stealth or long circulation modification may increase the ability as a gene vector to delivery genes into cells.展开更多

TiO2 was formed directly in matrix by hydrolysis and condensation reaction of tetrabutyl titanate. The crystallinity, morphology and ionic conductivity of composite polymer electrolyte films were examined by differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, atom force microscopy and alternating current impedance spectroscopy, respectively. The glass transition temperature and the crystallinity of composite polymer electrolytes are decreased compared with those of PEO-LiClO4 polymer electrolyte film. The results show that TiO2 particles are uniformly dispersed in PEO-LiClO4-5%TiO2 composite polymer electrolyte film. The maximal conductivity of 5.5×10、5 Scm at 20 ℃ of PEO-LiClO4-TiO2 film is obtained at 5% mass fraction of TiO2.展开更多

Based on the mean-field rate equations, we investigate the evoIution behavior of the system with the size-dependent catalysis-driven decomposition rate J(i; j; k) = Jijk^v and the constant aggregation rates. The results show that the cluster size distribution of the species without decomposition can always obey the conventional scaling law in the case of 0 ≤v ≤ 1, while the kinetic evolution of the decomposed species depends crucially on the index v. Moreover, the total size of the species without decomposition can keep a nonzero value at large times, while the total size of the decomposed species decreases exponentially with time and vanishes finally.展开更多
Lignin was extracted from peat by Sosa Method. In order to increase its chemical activity, it is necessary to make a structural modification by hydroxymethylation so it can be used in preparation of synthetic wood. De...Lignin was extracted from peat by Sosa Method. In order to increase its chemical activity, it is necessary to make a structural modification by hydroxymethylation so it can be used in preparation of synthetic wood. Depolymerization was made by two methods: (1) reaction oflignin with NaOH 2%; (2) exposition oflignin to UV beam for 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours. The best depolimerization result was with exposition of lignin to UV by 12 hours since phenylpropanoic structure with higher number of free positions (unoccupied carbons) in C3 and C5 of its aromatic ring was obtained. It is known by Mannich Reaction and determination of phenolic OH by UV analysis. Later, its reactivity was increased by hydroxymethylation process by means of reaction of depolymerizated product with formaldehyde and later with glyoxal since it is less toxic. The modified product was mixed with six different kinds of resins (phenol-formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, melamine-formaldehyde, Glyoxal-formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde) to obtain a better mechanical characteristic as a synthetic wood. The best result was the one with melamine-formaldehyde. Finally, this product was mixed with testa rice so final product showed a great hardness and a shinny and smooth appearance.展开更多

Various bacterial str...Bactericidal activity of some arginine based biodegradable polymers-PEURs (poly (ester urethane)s) and PEUs (poly (ester urea)s) with low cytotoxicity was studied in in vitro experiments. Various bacterial strains both Gram-positive and Gram-negative were used to explore the bactericidal activity of the cationic polymers. As the test objects, the following microorganisms were used: Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium album, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Escherichia coli, Actinomyces griseus and Aspergillus niger. The obtained results showed that the new cationic polymers suppressed the growth of the studied microorganisms and the bactericidal activity of the tested cationic polymers strongly depending on their chemical structure.展开更多
