The main quality traits were determined. The results showed the quality traits of purple-fleshed sweetpotato were significantly influenced by soil and ecological environments. Geno- type (G), environment (E) and genotype x environment (GxE) interaction had signif- icantiy effects on the contents of anthocyanin, dry matter, starch, protein, reducing sugar and soluble sugar in storage roots. Anthocyanin content was most easily af- fected by the environment. The E effect on anthocyanin content was greater than G and GxE effects. However, the GxE interaction effects on other 5 quality traits were greater than G and E effects. The 6 quality traits were significantly different at 1% level under different environments respectively. The contents of dry matter, starch and anthocyenin were higher in Yancheng than in Xuzhou, while the contents of protein, reducing sugar and soluble sugar were higher in Xuzhou. The variation co- efficients of all quality traits at Yancheng and Xuzhou were in the same order: an- sugar〉protein〉starch, the variation coefficient of anthocyanin content was higher in Xuzhou, and the variation coefficients of other 5 traits were higher in Yancheng. Correlation analysis showed that the reducing sugar and solu- ble sugar contents were negatively correlated with starch content, and had no sig- nifiant correlation with anthocyanin and protein contents. Dry matter content and starch content were positively correlated, and anthocyanin content and other quality traits had no significant correlation.展开更多

To gain a better understanding of the lion biosynthesis in wheat development, two cDNAs encoding CCR were identified from wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. H4564). DNA sequence analyses indicated that the two cDNAs represent two classes of CCR. RT-PCR and Northern blot hybridization demonstrated that one of them, W-cr6, was expressed actively in stem and leaf tissue, the other one, W-cr19, was expressed in root and stem tissue. The results suggested that there are at least two genes encoded for CCR existing in wheat genome.展开更多

[Method] Taking 383 pigs from five breeds including Mashen Pig, Large White Pig, Landrace, Duroc and Shanxi White Pig as the experimental animals, polymorphisms of partial fragments in the third intron of porcine H-FABP gene were detected by PCR-SSCP method, and then the polymorphic fragments were sequenced. [ Result] Two alleles, designated as A and B, were found at the locus 346 in the third intron of porcine H-FABP gene, and the mutation was caused by a A→G substitution. [ Conclusion] A polymorphic locus was discovered in the third intron of porcine H-FABP gene in this experiment, laying a foundation for the further study on the relationship between H-FABP gene and IMF content.展开更多

A total of eight single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were found. Allele frequencies of four SNPs were further detected in four commercial breeds and eight Chinese indigenous breeds. Single SNP and meat quality associations were analyzed in a YorkshirexMeishan F2 population. The SNPs c.474C〉T (P〈0.01) and c.636C〉T (P〈0.05) showed a significant association with meat color (MCV1). The SNPs c,*37G〉A and c.*47G〉A were significantly associated with drip loss rate (DLR), water holding capacity (WHC) and meat color value (MCV1) consistently (P〈0.05). Linkage disequilibrium (LD) analysis revealed that the adjacent SNPs were in LD. Two major haplotypes were identified, and association analysis between haplotype combinations and meat quality indicated that the presence of two copies of haplotype 1 -CCGG- may improve meat quality.展开更多

In the present study, we aimed to assess the effects of HSD17B8 on growth and meat quality traits in cattle. Transcription profile analysis showed that HSD17B8 was primarily expressed in the salpinx, liver, and testis. Meanwhile, we identified three SNPs (SNPI: intron 1-A91G; SNP2: exon 1-A90G; and SNP3: intron 8-A86G) of the bovine HSD17B8 gene and investigated its haplotype frequencies and linkage disequilibrium. The detected SNPs were found associated with growth traits (body weight, body length, height at withers, heart girth, hip width, and average daily gain) in native cattle populations (Nanyang and Jiaxian) as well as the meat quality traits (Warner- Bratzler shear force, rib area, dressing percentage, carcass weight, and backfat thickness) in commercial breeds (Angus, Hereford, Limousin, Luxi, Simmental, and Jinnan). Our results provided evidence that polymorphisms in the HSD17B8 gene were associated with growth traits and meat quality traits. Moreover, our findings might be used for marker-assisted selection in beef cattle breeding program展开更多
