[Objective] The aim was to select and breed Chunyou 618 which is a novel combination among japonica-indica hybrid rice subspecies. [Method] Chunyou 618 is a japonica-indica hybrid rice combination developed from Chunjiang 16A, a late japonica CMS line with dwarfness and early anthesis time, and C18, an indicaclinous wide compatibility restorer line. In addition, the concerning characters were researched. [Result] Chunyou 618, which is japonica inclining, proved high in pro- duction and in resistance to lodging with Cheng's index at 15. It is of moderate re- sistance against Xanthomonas oryzae and stripe virus disease, of moderate susceptibility on rice blast, and of susceptibility on Nilaparvata lugens. The indices of rice quality achieved departmental standard 4 and grade 4 of Cooking Rice Variety Quality, respectively. [Conclusion] Chunyou 618 enjoys strong heterosis, strong stem, good lodging resistance, large panicles, good cold tolerance, high yield and wide adaptability, which is suitable to be grown in Zhejiang Province as single cropping late rice. 展开更多

[Objective]The paper was to study the effect of tiller-inhibitor on the growth and yield formation of super early rice Jinyou 458.[Method] Two treatments including spraying tiller-inhibitor(TI) and spraying water(CK) at the SN-n stage were set in the test,the effect of tiller-inhibitor on yield and its components,leaf and plant morphology,field microclimate at booting stage and quality characteristics of rice population were studied.[Result] Spraying tiller-inhibitor could effectively reduce the occurrence of invalid and inefficient tillers,increase the proportion of high effective tillers(tiller with 4 or more leaves) in tiller composition at the maximal tiller stage.The panicle length,spikelets per panicle,spikelets density,number of secondary branches and the secondary spikelets,seed setting rate of rice plant sprayed with tiller-inhibitor were significantly higher than CK.Meanwhile,spraying tiller-inhibitor could increase plant height,biomass weight and leaf area index of rice population during middle and late stages of rice growing,improve the leaf temperature of top three leaves and the light transmittance of rice population at the booting stage,increase the leaf SPAD value,thus enhance photosynthetic capacity of rice plants.It also showed the characteristics of elongating the internode of rice plant and decreasing the stem thickness,etc.[Conclusion] The panicle-bearing rate of stems and tillers,effective panicles,spikelets per panicle,seed setting rate and 1 000-grain weight had coordinately increased after spraying tiller-inhibitor,thus increased the yield. 展开更多

Method The SOD, POD and APX activities of each sample were determined. Every material should have 3 replicates which been determined and calculated mean value to analyze. Result The various kinds of antioxidase activities in protective enzyme system of tetraploid lines were increased generally in comparison with that of diploid control line. And there is certain relativity between the samples in field and in test-tube of these lines. Conclusion The antioxidase activities of each line in test-tube could be considered as reference index to screen high resistance good tetraploid varieties of C. cinerariifolium. 展开更多

It passed the identification by Jiangsu Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in 2013. Crossing the Yan 161S with Yanhui 888, a new high-yielding and high-quality two-line hybrid rice combination Yanliangyou 1618 was developed, and it passed the variety identification in 2014. In this study, the genotypes of starch synthesis-related genes were systematically screened from different rice varieties using molecular markers. The results showed that starch synthesis-related genes were highly polymorphic between indica and japonica varieties, as they greatly variated among indica varieties, but were conserved among japonica varieties. The genotypes of two indica varieties9311 and Minghui 63 were more similar to that of japonica varieties. Two or three alleles of six starch synthesis-related genes were found in 28 japonica parental varieties. Four genotypes of two soluble starch synthase genes, SSIIa and SSIIIa,were detected in 88 stable lines derived from the cross of Kanto 194/ Wujing 13 using molecular markers. 展开更多

It shows good integrat- ed characteristics, stable male sterility, good flowering habits, high out crossing rate, strong disease resistance, fine grain quality (reaching the 1st class of national standards for fine quality rice) and high combining ability. In 2012, it was technically identified in Jiangsu Province. The nationally registered rice varieties during 2006-2015 were analyzed and there were 49.4 varieties on average annually registered in the last decade. In terms of the structure of varieties, there was a decreasing trend for the proportion of three-line hybrid rice varieties but a rapid increase for that of two-line hybrid rice varieties. The percentage of rice varieties developed by scientific research institu- tions was decreasing but that developed by seed companies kept a rapid increase, indicating the commercial breeding conducted by seed companies has become a principal model in rice breeding. With regard to grain quality of varieties, the con- ventional rice varieties showed an increasing trend while the hybrid rice varieties had a decreasing trend in the proportion of high quality varieties, indicating hybrid rice needs improving more in grain quality in breeding programs. 展开更多

[Objective] This study aimed to investigate the variation dynamics of total nitrogen and nicotine of burtey tobacco at various growing stages under different ni- trogen nutrition levels to provide reference for optimizing fertilization technologies for burley tobacco. [Method] Fresh burley tobacco leaves were collected at various growing stages and dried to measure the content of total nitrogen, protein and nico- tine by using INTEGRAL automated chemical analyzer and analyze the correlation with nitrogen application level. [Result] Regardless of the nitrogen application level, the content of total nitrogen and protein showed a downward trend since root ex- tending stage and reached the minimum at mature stage; the content of nicotine showed an upward trend since early vigorous growing stage and increased to the maximum at mature stage; the content of total nitrogen, protein and nicotine all in- creased after air curing; the content of total nitrogen, protein and nicotine showed positive correlation with nitrogen application level, while total nitrogen/nicotine was negatively correlated. The results indicate that nitrogen level is closely related to the total nitrogen and nicotine of burley tobacco at growing period and post-air curing, rational application of nitrogen is an important measure to regulate the content of total nitrogen and nicotine of tobacco. Heterosis plays an important role in the development of new crop varieties with high-yielding, good-quality and biotic/abiotic stresses while male sterile line de- velopment is the key step to determine the success of heterosis utilization. A male sterile mutant, M207A was created in proso millet (Panicum mi/iaceurn, 2n=4x=36) for the first time using 60Co-y ray mutagenesis. Fertility identification and genetic analysis were carried out to characterize the mutant for its possible use for hetero- sis utilization in proso millet. First the sterility was investigated using both field sur- vey and indoor pollen microscopy identification. Then Pollinated by normal fertile proso millet cultivars, F1 and F2 populations from the mutant were obtained. Mean- while primary genetic analysis was also conducted using above populations in dif- ferent experimental sites, seasons and years. The results showed that the male sterile plant exhibited closed glumes, browning and dry anthers with few normal pollens. The sterility was stable and sterility rate was above 95% on average. The segregation ratio of fertile to sterile plants was 35:1 in the fertile selfing F2 popula- tion indicating that the mutant was a genic male sterility belonging to a pollen-less type controlled by a single recessive gene. The creation of the mutant, M207A can play a key role for heterosis utilization in proso millet. 展开更多

The hybrid growth of rapeseed now has reached to 4.7×106hm2,accounting for 70 % of total rapeseed growth area in China. Over the last 40 years,the researches and utilizations of hybrid rapeseed in China have significantly contributed to the development of rapeseed industry in China. The production of hybrid rapeseed mainly utilizes cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS),combined at the same time with nuclear male sterility and other pollinating-control systems in China. The hybrid rapeseed studies in China are also characterized by the improvement of quality and oil content in hybrid breeding. Future studies to enhance the heterosis of rapeseed will be focused on several important issues,including the combination of heterosis and ideotype breeding,further increase of oil content in hybrids,utilization of sub-genomic heterosis and resistance improvement. The paper will discuss the following perspectives in hybrid rapeseed studies:relationships among heterosis,quality and disease traits,solutions for excessive source and pool in hybrids compared with open-pollinated cultivars,and the importance of increasing harvest index of hybrids to achieve a better yield in hybrids. 展开更多

Cultured Apostichopus japonicus in China suffers from a kind of skin ulceration disease that has caused severe economic loss in recent years. The disease,pathogens of which are supposed to be bacteria by most researchers,is highly infectious and can often cause all individuals in the same culture pool to die in a very short time. The 16S rRNA gene phylogenesis of the culturable bacteria from the lesions of diseased individuals was conducted to study the biodiversity of the bacterial communities in the lesions and to identify probable pathogen(s) associated with this kind of disease. S. japonica samples were selected from a hatchery located in the eastern part of Qingdao,China. Bacterial universal primers GM5F and DS907R were used to amplify the 16S rRNA gene of bacteria colonies,and touchdown PCR was performed to amplify the target sequences. The results suggest that γ-proteobacteria(Alteromonadales and Vibrionales) of CFB group,many strains of which have been also determined as pathogens in other marine species,are the predominant bacterial genera of the diseased Apostichopus japonicus individuals. 展开更多

This study aims to investigate the importance of communication and interpersonal relationship in the development of activities in the agribusiness ventures. The study methodology includes theoretical search and field research with descriptive exploratory method. The results indicate that there is need to be investing in people management, demonstrating that there is still much to be improved, particularly as regards the development of workers. In this sense, it is recommended that invested more in continuing education and refresher courses for staff development, entrepreneurship training to show concern in giving them the opportunity to grow personally and professionally and still have other competitive advantages such as increased productivity, reduced costs, improved quality, and reduction in turnover of staff. 展开更多
