How to assess various contributing factors for carbon emission is of great importance to find out the key factors and promote carbon emission reduction. In this paper, the author constructs an identical equation for carbon emission, based on the economic aggregate, the economic structure, the efficiency of energy utilization, the structure of energy consumption, and the coefficient of carbon emission; by applying to LMDI decomposition technology, the author analyzes the carbon emission of China from 1995 to 2007 at industrial level and regional level. The results show that the expansion of economic aggregate is the main reason for China' s rapidly increasing carbon emission and the increase of energy utilization efficiency is the key factor that can hold back the increase of carbon emission. In addition, the change of industrial structure or regional structure and the change of traditional energy structure have limited influence on the carbon emission, and their potentials have not yet been exploited. At the end of this paper, the author proposes the efforts that China should make to reduce carbon emission.展开更多

Office buildings have more potentials to provide energy flexibility to the grid compared to other types of buildings, due to the existing building management, control systems and large energy consumption. Consumers in office buildings (building owners/managers and occupants) take a main role for adopting and engaging in building energy flexibility. This paper provides a systematic review of consumer central energy flexibility in office buildings with the discussion of social, technical and business aspects. This paper clarifies the correlations of consumers' concems, external influential factors, energy flexibility resources and technology with eight hypotheses. This paper suggests that technical solutions with the integration of distributed energy resources, building management and control system can boost energy flexibility in the office buildings.展开更多

The main reason is that importing electricity from generation plants far from a load center is relatively expensive, as costs are paid not only for generation but also for energy loss and network use. To this end, it is more economi- cal to use electricity generated by local distributed generations. In order to reduce customers' electricity cost, a new economic dispatch of smart distribution networks is proposed. Economic dispatch of smart distribution network is to meet load demand with the least consumers' electricity cost considering distributed generators, while recognizing all operational limits of generation and transmission facilities in a distribution network. Case study shows that consumers' electricity cost can be reduced by about 200/o through economic dispatch of distri- bution network. Further, generation cost and emission of distribution network are reduced as well.展开更多
