Therefore, energy efficient or green communication has become a v...With the explosive growth and need for high-speed wireless communications, more and more energy is consumed to support the required quality of service. Therefore, energy efficient or green communication has become a very hot topic under the ground of limited energy resource and environmentally friendly transmission schemes. MIMO technique is capable of reducing the transmission power thanks to its diversity and multiplexing gain. Moreover, antenna selection(AS) is an alternative to extract many of the benefits in MIMO systems with a reduced cost of complexity and power. Although many works including several survey papers have investigated AS in MIMO systems, the goal of these works is only the capacity maximization or error rate minimization, which fails to guarantee the optimality of the energy efficiency in MIMO systems. In this paper, we overview the state of the art in the AS schemes in energy efficient MIMO systems, the goal of which is to optimize the energy efficiency of the whole system. Specifically, we introduce energy efficient AS in point-to-point MIMO, cooperative MIMO, multiuser MIMO and largescale MIMO systems, respectively. With the data of residential gas boiler, grade distribution of energy efficiency system was made and evaluated. An energy efficiency classification scheme for agricultural heater was proposed and applied to agricultural heaters, and the scheme was justified. Introducing a new energy efficiency classification system to the agricultural heater industry, it is expected that considerable amount of fossil fuels can be reduced by adopting energy efficiency classification system.展开更多
The combined use of dry cooling(DC) system and dedicated ventilation(DV) system to decouple cooling and dehumidification process for energy efficiency was proposed for subtropical climates like Hong Kong. In this stud...The combined use of dry cooling(DC) system and dedicated ventilation(DV) system to decouple cooling and dehumidification process for energy efficiency was proposed for subtropical climates like Hong Kong. In this study, the energy performance and condensation risk of the use of DCDV system were examined by analyzing its application in a typical office building in Hong Kong. Through hour-by-hour simulation using actual equipment performance data and realistic building and system characteristics, it was found that with the use of DCDV system, the annual energy consumption could be reduced by 54% in comparison with the conventional system(constant air volume with reheat system). In respect of condensation risk, it was found that the annual frequency of occurrence of condensation on DC coil was 35 h. Additional simulations were conducted to examine the influence of different parameters on the condensation risk of DCDV system. Measures to ensure condensate-free on DC coil were also discussed.展开更多

This paper presents a novel scheme that can determine the optimal set-point of hot water supply that maximizes the energy efficiency whilst providing sufficient heating capacity to the load. The proposed architecture saves the energy wasted by removing idle threads without manipulation on the original architecture, fulfills a seamless switching mechanism which protects active threads and avoids pipeline stall during power mode switching. The report of an implemented dynamic multithreaded processor with 45 nm process from synthesis tool indicates that the area of dynamic multithreaded architecture is only 2.27% higher than the static one in achieving dynamic power dissipation, and consumes 1.3% more power in the same peak performance.展开更多

Aerial inspection of electric power transmission lines is typically performed using human-piloted helicopters, which is a procedure that is both expensive and prone to accidents taking risks to human beings' lives. The work presents a solution based on UAS (unmanned aircraft system) for inspecting power lines. In this context a R & D project of an unmanned aircraft system to be used for performing complete aerial inspection of overhead power lines is being executed by ITA (Instituto Tecnol6gico de Aeron^utica) (Technological Institute of Aeronautics) in Brazil. Special attention is dedicated to the communication system conception in order to comply with Remotely Piloted Aircraft System definition in the context of long endurance operations of the system.
