We theoretically investigate the optical absorption spectra and charge density by subjecting a GaAs quantum well to both an intense terahertz (THz)-frequency driving field and an optical pulse within the theory of density matrix. In presence of a strong THz field, the optical transitions in quantum well subbands are altered by the THz field. The alteration has a direct impact on the optical absorption and the charge density. The excitonic peak splitting and THz optical sideband in the absorption spectra show up when changing the THz field intensity and/or frequency. The Autler-Towns splitting is a result from the THz nonlinear dynamics of confined excitons. On the other hand, the carrier charge density is created as wave packets formed by coherent superposition of several eigenstates. The charge density exhibitsquantum beats for short pulses and/or wider wells and is modulated by the THz field. 展开更多

There are complex heterogeneous entities in the underground medium, and the heterogeneous scale has a substantial impact on wave propagation. In this study,we used a set of 11 samples of glass beads as high-velocity heterogeneous bodies to evaluate the impact of such heterogeneous bodies on the propagation of P-wave.We vary the heterogeneous scale by changing the diameter of the glass beads from 0.18 to 11 mm while keeping the same volume proportion(10%)of the beads for the set of 11 samples. The pulse transmission method was used to record measurements at the ultrasonic frequencies of 0.34,0.61,and 0.84 MHz in the homogeneous matrix. The relationship between P-wave fi eld features and heterogeneity scale,P-wave velocity, and the multiple of the wave number and heterogeneous scale(ka)was observed in the laboratory, which has sparked widespread interest and research.Heterogeneous scale affects P-wave propagation, and its wave field changes are complex. The waveform, amplitude, and velocity of the recorded P-waves correlate with the heterogeneous scale. For the forward scattering while large-scale heterogeneities, noticeable direct and diff racted waves are observed in the laboratory, which indicates that the infl uence of direct and diff racted waves cannot be ignored for large-scale heterogeneities. The relationship between velocity and ka shows frequency dependence;the reason is that the magnitude of change in velocity caused by wave number is diff erent from that caused by heterogeneous scale.According to the change in the recorded waveform, amplitude variation,or the relationship between the velocity measured at diff erent frequencies and the heterogeneous scale, the identifi ed turning points of the ray approximation are all around ka=10.When ka is less than 1,the velocity changes slowly and gradually approaches the eff ective medium velocity. The ray velocity measured for heterogeneous media with large velocity perturbations in the laboratory is signifi cantly smaller than the velocity predicted by the perturbation theory. 展开更多

The effect of repetitive pulsed microwaves (10 GHz, pulse duration of 100-300 ns, pulse repetition rate of 4-25 pulse per second, peak power density of 0.04-3.5 kW/cm^2) on mastocytoma P815, Ehrlich carcinoma, normal spleen cells and wound healing was investigated. It was found that short-time irradiation with an intensity of 0.9-1.5 kW/cm^2 inhibited proliferation of tumor cells in vitro, whereas at same time it contributes to proliferation of normal spleen cells in vitro. The repetitive pulsed microwaves with an intensity of 0.04-1.5 kW/cm^2 stimulated healing of skin wounds and ulcerations in mice. The effects showed a dependence on the pulse repetition rate and irradiation intensity. 展开更多

In this paper, the optimum supercontinuum(SC)spectrum generation in a dispersion decreasing fiber is presented.Three normalized parameters for the pump pulse and SC fiber are introduced. It is found that the shape of an SC spectrum is uniquely specified by the input soliton order, the normalized dispersion slope and the normalized effective fiber length. For a pumping condition with a given input soliton order and a given normalized dispersion slope,by optimizing the normalized effective fiber length, the residual spectral peak in the SC spectrum can be suppressed effectively, and a broad SC spectrum with optimum spectral flatness can be obtained. 展开更多

The high-frequency interference exists obviously in low strain integrity testing of large-diameter pipe pile when a transientpoint load is applied. An analytical solution of vertical vibratory response of large-diameter pipe piles in low strain testing isdeduced in this paper. The analytical solution is verified by both numerical simulation and model test results. The time-domainvelocity responses on pile top are analyzed. The calculation results indicate that the time-domain responses at various pointssuffer different high-frequency interferences, thus the peak values and phases of different points are different. The influence ofvibratory modes on high-frequency interference is analyzed. It is found that the high-frequency interference at 90° point main-ly derives from the second flexural mode, but for other points it mainly originates from the first flexural mode. The factors af-fecting the frequency and peak value of interference waves have been investigated in this study. The results indicate that thelarger radius angle between the receiving and 90° points leads to greater peak value of high frequency wave crest. The leasthigh-frequency interference is detected at the angle of 90°. The frequency of interference waves is decreased with the increaseof pile radius, while the peak value is almost constant. The frequency is also related to pile modulus, i.e. the larger pile modu-lus results in greater frequency. The peak value varies with impulse width and soil resistance, i.e., the wider impulse width andlarger soil resistance cause smaller peak value. In conclusion, the frequency of interference waves is dependent on the geomet-rical and mechanics characteristics of the piles such as pile radius and modulus, but independent of the external conditionssuch as impulse width and soil resistance. On the other hand, the peak value of interference waves is mainly dependent on theexternal conditions but independent of the geometrical and mechanics characteristics of the piles. In practice, some externalmeasures should be adopted to weaken high-frequency interference such as using soft hammer, hammer cushion and adoptingsuitable receiving point. 展开更多

A novel approach, which can handle ambiguous data from weak targets, is proposed within the randomized Hough transform track-before-detect(RHT-TBD) framework. The main idea is that, without the pre-detection and ambiguity resolution step at each time step, the ambiguous measurements are mapped by the multiple hypothesis ranging(MHR) procedure. In this way, all the information, based on the relativity in time and pulse repetition frequency(PRF) domains, can be gathered among different PRFs and integrated over time via a batch procedure. The final step is to perform the RHT with all the extended measurements, and the ambiguous data is unfolded while the detection decision is confirmed at the end of the processing chain.Unlike classic methods, the new approach resolves the problem of range ambiguity and detects the true track for targets. Finally, its application is illustrated to analyze and compare the performance between the proposed approach and the existing approach. Simulation results exhibit the effectiveness of this approach. 展开更多
