Methods Forty-two patients were divided into an acupuncture group and a drug group according to the method of random number table, with 21 cases in each group. EA on EX-B2 from L2 to L5 (bilateral) and scalp acupuncture on Baihui (百会 CV 20) and Sishencong (四神聪EX-HN 1) were applied in the acupuncture group, once a day the course of treatment was 30 days; Duxil was taken orally by the drug group, one pill twice a day for 30 days as a course of treatment. After treatment was completed, the efficacy was evaluated and activities of daily living (ADL) were compared between the two groups. Results The total effectiveness rate for the acupuncture group was 90.5%, which was significantly better than that of the drug group (61.9%), and the differences were statistically significant (P〈0.05); ADL was compared before and after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant (the acupuncture group: 24.52±9.34 vs 32.85±13.56; the drug group: 25.47±10.04 vs 29.99±13.87, both P〈0.01); after treatment, ADL, including gait disorders, in the acupuncture group was more significantly improved than that of the drug group, and the differences were statistically significant (32.85±13.56 vs 29.99± 13.87, P〈0.01). Conclusion The efficacy of treating vascular dementia gait disorder with electro-acupuncture (EA) on EX-B2 along lumbar vertebra combined with scalp acupuncture was superior to orally administered Duxil.展开更多

Nape cluster needling was: Xiànǎohù(下脑户)(located in the median depression under occipital bone), Fēngfǔ(风府 GV 16) and Yǎmén(哑门 GV 15) were selected longitudinally; horizontally, the part from GV 16 to Wángǔ(完骨 GB 12) was divided into six equal sections, one section was an acupoint, and there were 12 acupoints in total at the left and right sides. Bilateral Jǐngjiājǐ(颈夹脊) points on the second vertebra to the seventh vertebra were selected. The acupuncture was conducted once a day, five days were considered as one course of treatment, and two days were free from treatment between two courses. Four courses of treatment were needed. All the patients were cured clinically. It can be seen that acupuncture at Jǐngjiājǐ combined with nape cluster needling in treatment of cervicogenic headache has sound effect.展开更多

Methods: A total of 71 PCIV cases were randomly allocated into an acupuncture group (37 cases) and a medication (oral Flunarizine Hydrochloride) group (34 cases). After 6 weeks of treatment, the therapeutic efficacies in the two groups were analyzed. Results: After treatment, the mean blood flow velocities (VM) of both the vertebral artery (VA) and the basilar artery (BA) in acupuncture group were significantly increased, showing statistical differences when compared with the pre-treatment result of the same group (P〈0.05); despite some decrease in pulsatility index (PI) after treatment, there was no statistical difference when compared with the pre-treatment result. After treatment, the mean blood flow velocities of both VA and BA in the medication group were increased, showing statistical differences when compared with the pre-treatment result of the same group (P〈0.05); there was no statistical difference in PI before and after the treatment (P〉0.05). Regarding the improvement of VM, the acupuncture group was superior to the medication group, showing a statistical difference (P〈0.05); there was no statistical difference in PI improvement between the two groups. Considering from the clinical efficacy, both acupuncture and medication are effective. However, acupuncture obtained a significantly better effect than medication (P〈0.05). Though usually characterized by low cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure, some patients with SIH are observed to have normal pressure values. In this study, we aimed to confirm the proportion of patients with normal CSF opening pressure (CSF OP) and explore the factors affecting CSF OP in SIH patients. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 206 consecutive SIH patients and analyzed their clinical and imaging variables (including demographic data, body mass index (BMI), duration of symptoms, and brain imaging findings). Univariate and multiVariate analyses were performed to identify the potential factors affecting CSF OP. Results: In a total of 114 (55.3%) cases the CSF OP was 〈60 mmH2O (1 mmH2O=9.80665 Pa), in 90 (43.7%) cases it was between 60 and 200 mmH2O, and in 2 (1.0%) cases it was 〉200 mmH2O. Univadate analysis showed that the duration of symptoms (P〈0.001), BMI (P〈0.001), and age (P=0.024) were positively correlated with CSF OP. However, multivariate analysis suggested that only the duration of symptoms (P〈0.001) and BMI (P〈0.001) were strongly correlated with CSF OP. A relatively high R2 of 0.681 was obtained for the multivariate model. Conclusions: Our study indicated that in patients without a low CSF OP, a diagnosis of SIH should not be excluded. BMI and the duration of symptoms can influence CSF OP in SIH patients, and other potential factors need further investigation.展开更多

Among terrestrial organisms, biofluorescence has been commonly recorded in arthropods, but rarely from vertebrates (Lagorio et al. 2015). It has long been known from parrots (Hausmann et al. 2003) and has recently been recorded from a frog (Taboada et al. 2017) and from chameleons (Chamaeleonidae: Protzel et al. 2018).展开更多
