The dewatering can be enhanced dramatically by the use of electroosmosis,in which an electric field is applied to the sludge cake.In this study, the influence of filter cloth on the cathode on the dewatering of activated sludge was investigated. It was found that thicker filter cloth led to lower water removal from the sludge cake,so a stainless steel cathode net with small pore size instead of filter cloth was applied, which improves the dewatering efficiency and reduces the electric power consumption. Moreover, water absorbent materials were helpful to remove the water from the sludge cake. For the electroosmotic dewatering at 7 kPa and 24 V·cm-1,the water content in the sludge cake decreased to 60%(by mass) with the average 0.075 kW·h·kg-1of water removed by using the cathode net.展开更多

A-64, A-56,1-62, AP-10, AP-56, AP-64 and KR-104. To understand the effect of Cl anions, HCl-impregnated sup- ports have been investigated in the dehydration reaction of glycerol at 375 ℃. For comparison, various H-zeolites were also examined. It was found that the glycerol conversion over the solid acid catalysts was strongly dependent on their acidity and surface area. And the relationship between the catalytic activity and the acidity of the catalysts was discussed. The outstanding properties of Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst systems for the dehydration of glycerol were revealed. Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst (AP-64) showed the highest catalytic activity after 50 h of reaction with an acrolein selectivity of 65% at a conversion of glycerol of 90%. Based on these results, catalysts based on γ-Al2O3 appear to be most promising for gas phase dehydration of glycerol.展开更多

The effects of chitosan characteristics such as molecular weight, degree of deacetylation, and dose on the dewaterability were investigated. The sludge dewaterability is evaluated in terms of specific resistance to filtration, residual turbidity of supernatant, moisture content of cake, and settling rate. Sludge dehydrating behaviors conditioned with CTS, PAM and PAC flocculants were compared. The conditioning was also carried out with dual flocculants in two stages. It is found that the sludge conditioned with CTS has better dewaterability than that with PAC. The optimum conditions with chitosan are: dose 0.8 - 1.2 g per 100 g dry cake, molecular weight 300,000, and degree of deacetylation 70%. The conditioning in two stages with dual flocculants is found to be more effective than that with single flocculant.展开更多

Two neighbouring meadows were selected for investigations: one systematically cultivated and fertilized and the other deprived of any effect of anthropogenic activity, used as a control. We have demonstrated that dehydrogenase activity (DHA), the DNA content and microbial abundance strongly depended on the type of land use. DHA exhibited a significant correlation with the DNA content (r = 0.99^*** and r = 0.74^*, for cultivated and control sites, respectively). This relationship with such a high r value might suggest domination of the intracellular form of DNA in the cultivated meadow, which is also confirmed by the c.a. 13% increase in microorganism abundance in the cultivated soil. The optimal conditions for microbial activities were defined by the significant positive interrelationships between microbial abundance and the total organic carbon content, and a negative correlation with pH, redox potential and soil bulk density.展开更多
