[Method] With Ioquat fruits of Qingzhong variety as materi- als, 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.8% PAA combined with 0.8% CaCI2 was used to soak Ioquat fruits for 4 min, 0.8% CaCl2 and water treatments were set as two controls; the fruits were dried and packaged by 0.02 mm PE bags, then stored under non-chilling low temperature of (7±1) ℃. The indicators related to storage quality of Ioquat fruits were randomly tested once every 3 d, and their variation situations were analyzed. [Result] Compared with two control treatments and 0.2% PAA, 0.8% PAA combined with calcium treatments, the treatment of 0.4% PAA combined with 0.8% CaCl2 could significantly inhibit rot index, weight loss rate, firmness and cell membrane permeability of Ioquat fruits during storage period, which could also effectively delay the reduction of titratable acid, vitamin C, soluble solid content and juice yield, and maintain respiration intensity of fruits at a low level; the appearance and flavor qual- ity of fruits were good after stored for 25 d. [Conclusion] 0.4% PAA combined with 0.8% CaCl2 treatment is an efficient, safe and economical practice technology in an- ti-corrosion and quality preservation for postharvest Ioquat fruits .展开更多

Against such a background, a short-term (60 days)greenhouse simulation experiment was carried out to study the effectsof straw placement, external mineral N source and tillage on strawdecomposition of maize and cotton in two contrasting soils, a redsoil (Ferrasol) and a black soil (Acrisol).展开更多

The bio-control trials of C. spirale ND35 against the Valsa Canker of apple were preliminarily investigated. The results of dual culture on PDA plate showed that C. spirale ND35 was capable of strong antagonism against Valsa ceratosperma, and for inhibiting the mycelial growth of V. ceratosperma,.the crude extract of liquid culture of corn steep powder broth was more effective than that one of malt extract broth (MEB). The results of bio-control in greenhouse and field indicated that the disease incidence of apple tree treated with C. spirale ND35 was lower significantly than that treated by other methods. The re-isolation experiment suggested that C. spirale ND35 could colonize in stems and branches of apple trees successfully, and the ND35 colonization rate of the treatment with solid wheat bran culture was higher than that of corn steep powder broth, but the field experiment result the control effect of liquid culture of C. spirale ND35 was better than that of solid culture.展开更多

The Boussinesq assumptions and the Navier-Stokes equations of incompressible fluid were applied to setting up the pollutant diffusion equations and the equations for the decay process. E. colt was taken as the example pollutant, and chloride dosage, light, temperature and ultraviolet intensity were considered in the equations for bacterial decay process. The calculated values of the fluid velocities in the two rivers agree well with corresponding measured results, indicating an ideal accuracy of the model. In simulation, the concentration of E. colt in water was assumed to be zero before the accident. The and 1.75 m/s for the Yangtze flow, and the downriver boundary was upriver boundary velocity was -1.35 m/s for the Jialing flow water depth set at 0. Simulation results show that the bacteria are transported downstream along the riverbank. A long and narrow pollutant belt develops at 12 h after the start of the accident ascribed to the quick longitudinal transfer. After the pollution sources are cut off, the pollutant concentration decreases slowly, mostly by advection and diffusion, suggesting inadequate self-purification ability of the rivers and the necessity of effective decontaminating measures in the case of a pollution incident, The model can be a useful tool for understanding the polluting situations of an improper discharge incident and evaluating the effects of decontaminating measures for the water body of the Three Gorges Reservoir.展开更多

The authors collected the samples of forest litter (Tilia amurensis, Fraxinus mandshurica, Pinus koraiensis, Acer mono, Betula costata, and mixed litter), soil in humus horizon (0--5cm) and soil horizon (5-20cm), and soil macrofauna (Oligochaeta, Geophiloporpha and Juliformia) from 2001 to 2002. The role of soil macrofauna in the material cycle was analyzed through comparing the macro-element contents among various parts of the subsystems and using enrichment index (El). The results indicate that dynamic changes of various litters are very complicated. The contents of Fe in each kind of litter increase firstly, and then decrease in the study period. The changes of macro-element contents are greater in the broad-leaf litter than in the coniferous litter, and the mixed litter is in the middle level, but the differences among them are not significant. The contents of Mg and Fe in humus are higher than those in soil, but the contents of Ca in soil are higher than that in humus. The dynamic changes of macro-element contents in soil and soil fauna are not consistent with those in litter. The diplopod presented obvious enrichment of Ca and Mg (E1〉1), but it does not significantly enrich Fe. Earthworm has a stronger enrichment ability of Fe than diplopod and scolopendra, but E1〈1. Soil fauna can make great influences on the material cycle of the subsystems.展开更多

The remainder of the mangrove stem will be decayed and become the waste product. Some indigenous bacteria species that live in the decayed mangrove stem waste product have cellulolytic and amylolytic characters. This research was done to: (1) identify and determine the cellulolytic bacteria species; (2) identify and determine the amylolytic bacteria species; (3) determine the cellulolytic bacteria species that have the highest cellulase activity; (4) determine the amylolytic bacteria species that have the highest amylase activity. This research was conducted at the Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, State University of Malang, Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University and Chemistry Laboratory, Muhammadiyah Malang University. In the experiment, 25 g sample were grinded and diluted in 225 mL nutrient broth to get 101 suspension. Then the suspension was diluted gradually until 101~. The suspension was inoculated on nutrient agar medium with 0.1 mL each, and incubated in 37 ~C during 24 h. Each bacteria colony was isolated and identified to know whether it was cellulolytic or amylolytic bacteria. Afterward, the cellulase activity as well as the amylase activity was analyzed. The research results show that: (1) there are four cellulolytic bacteria species, i.e., Micrococcus luteus, Bacillus pumilus, Planococcus citreus and Bacillus cereus; (2) there are four amylolytic bacteria species, i.e., Bacillus firmus, Nitrobacter sp., Bacillus mycoides and Pseudomonas aeruginosa; (3) Bacillus cereus has the highest cellulase activity; (4) Nitrobacter sp. has the highest amylase activity.展开更多

These isolates had shown good control of Fusarium solani in in-vitro condition. Chickpea roots were treated with T. harzianum individually and in combination and planted in artificially infested soil with pathogen F. solani. Although all biocontrol agents applied individually reduced disease incidence, treatments as combination, except for T. harzianum (T-4) + T. asperellum (T-6) showed more protective effect. Combination of T. harzianum (T-7) + T. asperellum (T-5) isolate gave the best control (51.29%) at greenhouse condition.展开更多
