It can cause a terrible pain. The author has treated 66 cases by massotherapy, who were confirmatively diagnosed as having protrusion of the lumbar intervertebral disc by X-ray film and computer-aided tomography, with satisfactory results as reported in the following.Clinical DataAmong the 66 cases in this series, 49 were male and 17 female, ranging in age from 26 to 59 years, averaging 36.2 years. All the patients had got lumbago and unilateral ischialgia, with the left side affected in 37 cases and the right side in 29 cases. The leg pain radiating to lateral malleolus was found in 28 cases, to dorsum of the foot in 24 cases, and to the toes in 14 cases. Intermittent claudication was present in 22 cases, numbness of the affected foot in 16 cases, pain exacerbated when coughing in 35 cases, scoliosis in 21 cases, and positive Lasegue's sign in 48 cases.展开更多

Methods: A total of 70 patients with LIDH were randomized into an observation group and a control group, with 35 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with acupuncture at abdomen acupoints plus tuina, while the control group was treated only with tuina treatment. The clinical efficacy was observed after one course of treatment. Results: The cure rate and the total effective rate of the observation group were 83.3% and 96.7%, respectively. The cure rate and the total effective rate of the control group were 39.4% and 78.8%, respectively. There were significant differences in the cured rate and the total effective rate between the two groups (both P<0.05). There was no significant differenee in Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the JOA scores of both groups in creased sign ifica ntly, and the in tra-group differe nces were statistically sign ifica nt (both P<0.05);the JOA score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture at abdomen acupoints plus tuina has a better therapeutic effect than tuina alone in the treatment of LIDH.展开更多

Methods: Seventy patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were randomly divided into two groups by the visit order, 35 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with acupoint sticking therapy and the control group was treated with tuina. After treatment, the clinical effects, pain integral and Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) scores were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate, pain integral and improvement of JOA scores were better in the treatment group than in the control group (P〈O.O5). Conclusion: Acupoint sticking therapy is affirmative in the therapeutic effects and better than tuina treatment for lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.展开更多

Methods: A total of 90 cases were randomly allocated into an observation group and a medication group. The 48 cases in the observation group were treated with acupuncture, tuina and functional exercise, whereas the 42 cases in the medication group were treated with Ibuprofen sustained release capsules. Before and after treatment, the short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ) was employed to observe the changes in pain rating index (PRI), visual analogue scale (VAS) and present pain intensity (PPI). In addition, therapeutic efficacies were compared between two groups. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 97.9%, versus 61.9% in the medication group, showing a statistical difference (P〈O.05). After treatment, there were statistical differences between the two groups in sensory PRI score, affective PRI score, total PRI score, VAS score and PPI score (P〈O.05); and there were also statistical differences between two groups in clinical sign scoring (P〈O.05). After 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, there was a statistical difference between the two groups in re^apse rate (P〈O.05). Conclusion: Combining acupuncture, tuina and functional exercise can obtain better effects and has a lower relapse rate than Ibuprofen sustained release capsules for transverse process syndrome of the third lumbar vertebra.展开更多

Methods: A total of 130 acute lumbar sprain cases were randomly allocated into an observation group and a control group, 65 in each group. Cases in the observation group were treated with EA combined with tuina, whereas cases in the control group were treated with Diclofenac Sodium Dual Release Enteric-coated capsules. The muscle tones in two groups were tested before and after treatment. Results: The recovery rate and overall response rate in the observation group were 66.2% and 93.8% respectively, versus 56.9% and 87.7% in the control group, showing no between-group statistical significances(P>0.05). After treatment, the force-displacement area under curve(AUC) in both groups showed a significance difference(P<0.05). Conclusion: Both EA combined with tuina and aforementioned oral medication have remarkable effects for acute lumbar sprain, and the former can better improve the lumbar muscle tone in patients with acute lumbar sprain.展开更多

Methods: One hundred and twenty outpatients with low back pain who met the diagnostic criteria were randomly divided into a cutaneous region group or a medication group, 60 cases in each group. The cases in the cutaneous region group were treated by Nie-pinching up the skin of the lumbosacral region, cupping and acupuncture. Those in the medication group were treated by oral administration of Celecoxib capsule. The visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were used to assess the therapeutic effects. Results: After treatment, the VAS scores of both groups were different from those before treatment, showing statistical significances (allP<0.01). The D-valuse of VAS scores of both groups were different from those before treatment, showing statistical significances (allP<0.01). The D-value of OID scores in the cutaneous region group was significantly different from that in the medication group(P<0.01). After treatment, the total effective rate was 91.7% in the cutaneous region group versus 76.7% in the medication group, there was a significant difference in comparing the clinical effect (P<0.01). Conclusion: Both comprehensive treatment on the cutaneous region and Celecoxib capsule can obviously relieve low back pain. But comprehensive treatment on the cutaneous region is better than Celecoxib capsule in the therapeutic effects.展开更多
