This paper describes the replacement of a controller for a programmable universal machine for assembly (PUMA) 512 robot with a newly designed PC based (open architecture) controller employing a real-time direct contro...This paper describes the replacement of a controller for a programmable universal machine for assembly (PUMA) 512 robot with a newly designed PC based (open architecture) controller employing a real-time direct control of six joints. The original structure of the PUMA robot is retained. The hardware of the new controller includes such in-house designed parts as pulse width modulation (PWM) amplifiers, digital and analog controllers, I/O cards, signal conditioner cards, and 16-bit A/D and D/A boards. An Intel Pentium IV industrial computer is used as the central controller. The control software is implemented using VC++ programming language. The trajectory tracking performance of all six joints is tested at varying velocities. Experimental results show that it is feasible to implement the suggested open architecture platform for PUMA 500 series robots through the software routines running on a PC. By assembling controller from off-the-shell hardware and software components, the benefits of reduced and improved robustness have been realized.展开更多

In this study, a port machine diagnosis expert system is proposed based on multi-reasoning mechanism. Relying on the knowledge acquired from the experienced experts in the port machine engineering, the system builds a library of relative experience and a set of rules of reasoning and estimating. Multi-reasoning mechanism that simulates the decision-making process of domain experts is employed to achieve reliable diagnosis results. The reasoning machine integrates artificial neural network, uncertain decision making and decision tree, which complements each other by sustainable growing voting mechanism. The effect of this multi-reasoning mechanism is evaluated and validated by means of Matthew's Correlation Coefficient (MCC). The system incorporating the mechanism is successfully designed, implemented and applied in Shanghai Port.展开更多

To solve this problem, in this paper, an optimal decoupling control method is proposed, which can simultaneousiy provide optimal performance. The optimal decoupling controller is composed of an inner-loop decoupling controller and an outer-loop optimal tracking controller. First, by introducing one virtual control variable, the original differential equation on state is converted to a generalized system on output. Then, by introducing the other virtual control variable, and viewing the coupling terms as the measurable disturbances, the generalized system is open-loop decoupled. Finally, for the decoupled system, the optimal tracking control method is used. It is proved that the decoupling control is optimal for a certain performance index. Simulations on a ball mill coal-pulverizing system are conducted. The results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method as compared with the conventional optimal quadratic tracking (LQT) control method.展开更多

The system, based on a radar-ranging sensor and designed to localise mining equipment with respect to the mine tunnel gate road infr...A novel radar-based system for longwall coal mine machine localisation is described. The system, based on a radar-ranging sensor and designed to localise mining equipment with respect to the mine tunnel gate road infrastructure, is developed and trialled in an underground coal mine. The challenges of reliable sensing in the mine environment are considered, and the use of a radar sensor for localisation is justified. The difficulties of achieving reliable positioning using only the radar sensor are examined. Several probabilistic data processing techniques are explored in order to estimate two key localisation parameters from a single radar signal, namely along-track position and across-track position, with respect to the gate road structures. For the case of across-track position, a conventional Kalman filter approach is sufficient to achieve a reliable estimate. However for along-track position estimation, specific infrastructure elements on the gate road rib-wall must be identified by a tracking algorithm. Due to complexities associated with this data processing problem, a novel visual analytics approach was explored in a 3D interactive display to facilitate identification of significant features for use in a classifier algorithm. Based on the classifier output, identified elements are used as location waypoints to provide a robust and accurate mining equipment localisation estimate.展开更多

The following steps are needed for the seismic hazard assessment and design ground motion development:a. the development of regional seismo-tectonic model with seismic source areas within 500 km radius centered to the site;b. the development of strong motion prediction equations; c. logic three development for taking into account uncertainties and seismic hazard quantification;d. the development of uniform hazard response spectra for ground motion at the site;e. simulation of acceleration time histories compatible with uniform hazard response spectra. The following phase two in seismic design of NPP structures is the analysis of structural response for the design ground motion. This second phase of the process consists of the following steps:a. development of structural models of the plant buildings;b. development of the soil model underneath the plant buildings for soilstructure interaction response analysis;c. determination of instructure response spectra for the plant buildings for the equipment response analysis. In the third phase of the seismic design and analysis the equipment is analyzed on the basis of in-structure response spectra. For this purpose the structural models of the mechanical components and piping in the plant are set up. In large 3D-structural models used today the heaviest equipment of the primary coolant circuit is included in the structural model of the reactor building. In the fourth phase the electrical equipment and automation and control equipment are seismically qualified with the aid of the in-structure spectra developed in the phase two using large three-axial shaking tables. For this purpose the smoothed envelope spectra for calculated in-structure spectra are constructed and acceleration time is fitted to these smoothed envelope spectra.展开更多

Thus, a simple and effective anti-windup scheme, without an additional parameter, is designed for the MSP. Wavelet transform was introduced to detect and control the outliers. The multirate information extraction and the controlling of outliers were properly integrated to establish an adaptive outlier controlling multirate model. The proposed model was applied to multisensor state fusion with interacting multiple model (IMM), and a robust interacting multisensor state fusion algorithm was established based on adaptive outlier controlling multirate model. The Monte-Carlo simulation shows that it could improve the accuracy of fusion estimation by 70% compared to Hong’s algorithm and at least 14% to Xiao’s algorithm.展开更多

Thus, a computer code with several modules ...The present study investigates computer-antomated design and structural optimization of concrete slab frame bridges considering investment cost based on a complete 3D model. Thus, a computer code with several modules has been developed to produce parametric models of slab frame bridges. Design loads and load combinations are based on the Eurocode design standard and the Swedish design standard for bridges. The necessary reinforcement diagrams to satisfy the ultimate and serviceability limit states, including fatigue checks for the whole bridge, are calculated according to the aforementioned standards. Optimization techniques based on the genetic algorithm and the pattern search method are applied. A case study is presented to highlight the efficiency of the applied optimization algorithms. This methodology has been applied in the design process for the time-effective, material-efficient, and optimal design of concrete slab frame bridges.展开更多

Graphical system can design foundation, form specification of objects and create 3D model of house foundation. There are several types and different dimensions of concrete blocks. The program optimally arranges selected blocks so that monolithic parts will be minimal volume. Program selects a house foundation blocks from database by using ActiveX Data Objects technology, which by programming method connects drawing and database. Drawing's graphical objects have additional data from which exchange of data between graphical system and database is executed. Visualization system and example of house foundation from blocks project with specifications is presented. Creation problems of automated design system are discussed and conclusions are made.展开更多

This methodology has been applied in the design process for the time-effective, material-efficient, and optimal design of concrete slab frame bridges.
文摘This article analyzes creation methods of automated design system, presents design system of a house foundation from blocks. The creation methods of automated design system of a house foundation from blocks are discovered with Unified Modeling Language. Analyzed objects-classes: block, specification, model. Graphical system can design foundation, form specification of objects and create 3D model of house foundation. There are several types and different dimensions of concrete blocks. The program optimally arranges selected blocks so that monolithic parts will be minimal volume. Program selects a house foundation blocks from database by using ActiveX Data Objects technology, which by programming method connects drawing and database. Drawing's graphical objects have additional data from which exchange of data between graphical system and database is executed. Visualization system and example of house foundation from blocks project with specifications is presented. Creation problems of automated design system are discussed and conclusions are made.
