A model for modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP) systems containing fruits and vegetables was developed.The computer simulation was performed to predict the gas mass concentrations inside the packages and was success...A model for modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP) systems containing fruits and vegetables was developed.The computer simulation was performed to predict the gas mass concentrations inside the packages and was successfully verified by experiments with yellow peaches at 5,15 and 25 ℃ using two types of packaging films.A Michaelis-Menten type respiration model with noncompetitive inhibition mechanism due to CO2 was adopted while the respiration rates were measured with an improved permeable system method suitable for either steady or unsteady state.The applicability of the model in the design of MAP systems was demonstrated with a calculation to evaluate film specification and equilibrium concentrations of O2 and CO2 in the package containing yellow peaches.展开更多
Ti O2-organic multilayered nanocomposite films were deposited on a self-assembled monolayer-coated silicon substrate based on layer-by-layer technique and chemical bath deposition method by a hydrolysis of Ti Cl4 in a...Ti O2-organic multilayered nanocomposite films were deposited on a self-assembled monolayer-coated silicon substrate based on layer-by-layer technique and chemical bath deposition method by a hydrolysis of Ti Cl4 in an acid aqueous solution. The chemical compositions, surface morphologies and mechanical properties of the films were investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectrometer(XPS), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and nanoindentation depth-sensing technique, respectively. The results indicate that the major chemical compositions of the films are Ti and O. The principal mechanism for the nucleation and growth of the films is homogeneous nucleation, and the layer number of films has great influence on the surface morphology and roughness of the films. In addition, mechanical nanoindentation testing presents a significant increase in hardness and fracture toughness of titanium dioxide multilayered films compared with single-layer titanium dioxide thin film.展开更多

In order to investigate the oxidation kinetics of gas coal at low temperatures, we derived a rate equation of oxygen consumption during low-temperature oxidation of gas coal and deduced an E-c equation, expressing the...In order to investigate the oxidation kinetics of gas coal at low temperatures, we derived a rate equation of oxygen consumption during low-temperature oxidation of gas coal and deduced an E-c equation, expressing the relation between active energy E and oxygen concentration c. The reaction order n and active energy E were calculated with this equation based on experiments of static oxygen consumption tests. In addition, we proved the rationality of the E-c equation using a kinetic compensation effect and obtained the isokinetic temperature Tc. The results show that: 1) the gas coal oxidizes easily with increasing temperature and the oxidation tends to be spontaneous at higher temperatures; 2) the oxygen concentration c affects oxygen consumption very much at lower temperatures but has only a small effect at higher temperatures; 3) the isokinetic temperature Tc was 127 ℃ which has been experimentally validated as the key turning point during low-temperature spontaneous combustion of gas coal.展开更多

The maximum NO reduction is lowered with H2 added,while it is hardly affected by CO or CH4.The temperature window is widened appreciably with CH4 added,while it is narrowed slightly by H2 or CO.The disadvantage of CH4 is that it causes CO emission due to its incomplete oxidation,and the maximum conversion of CH4 to CO is more than 50%.In general,the calculation using a detailed chemical kinetic model predicts most of the process features reasonably well.The analysis on reaction mechanism shows that the effects of these additives on NO reduction are achieved principally by promoting the production of·OH radical.展开更多

The calculated lattice parameters, mean square displacements, and dynamic prop- erty of phonon-level density of the velocity auto-correlation functions for UO2 are provided. The Morelon potential and the Basak potential are employed. It confirms that the cal- culated lattice parameters using the Basak potential are in nearly perfect agreement with the reported values. The models successfully predict mean square displacement and Bredig transition. Furthermore, the phonon-level density of uranium dioxide are discussed. The intensity of phonon-level density increases with temperature, and the properties of UO2 are characterized by large thermal vibrations rather than extensive disorder.展开更多

In this work, coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations have been applied to study the micellization behaviors of mixed dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC)/hexadecylphosphocholine (HPC) droplets. By vary- ing DPPC/HPC composition and the size of lipid droplets, various micelles such as spherical and nonspherical (oblate or prolate) vesicles, disk-like micelles, double or single ring-like and worm-like micelles were observed. It is found that the lipid droplet as an initial state favors forming vesicles and ring-like micelles due to in situ micellization. Our simulation results demonstrate that using special initial conditions combined with various molecular compositions is an effective way to tune lipid micellar structure.展开更多

This article argues that both teacher control and learner autonomy play an important role in the process of foreign language learning. Too much or too little control may lead to the failure of learning effectively. Tasks can be accomplished effectively through teacher's balancing teacher control and learner autonomy. A teacher can play different roles in the process of teaching reading to balance teacher control and learner autonomy. Photodissociation of H2S in the VUV region plays an important role in the atmospheric chemistry and interstellar chemistry.To date,however,few studies have been focused on this topic.In this article,we have described ...Photodissociation of H2S in the VUV region plays an important role in the atmospheric chemistry and interstellar chemistry.To date,however,few studies have been focused on this topic.In this article,we have described a laser dispersion method applied in the apparatus combining the high-n H atom Rydberg tagging time-of-flight technique with the vacuum ultraviolet free electron laser(VUV FEL).The Lyman-αlaser beam(121.6 nm)used in the H-atom detection was generated by the difference frequency four-wave mixing schemes in a Kr/Ar gas cell.After passing through an off-axis biconvex LiF lens,the 121.6 nm beam was dispersed from the 212.6 nm and 845 nm beams due to the different deflection angles experienced by these laser beams at the surfaces of the biconvex lens.This method can eliminate the background signal from the 212.6 nm photolysis.Combined with the VUV FEL,photodissociation of H2S at 122.95 nm was studied successfully.The TOF spectrum was measured and the derived total kinetic energy release spectrum was displayed.The results suggest that the experimental setup is a powerful tool for investigating photodissociation dynamics of molecules in the VUV region which involves the H-atom elimination processes.展开更多
