Constraining the focal mechanism of the Lushan earthquake with observations of the Earth's free oscillations 被引量:9

The amplitudes of the Earth's free oscillations have a close relationship to earthquake focal mechanisms. Focal mechanisms of large earthquakes can be well analyzed and constrained with observations of long period free oscillations. Although the 2013 Lushan earthquake was only moderately sized, observable spherical normal modes were excited and clearly observed by a su- perconductive gravimeter and a broadband seismometer. We compare observed free oscillations with synthetic normal modes corresponding to four different focal mechanisms for the Lushan earthquake. The results show that source parameters can be analyzed and constrained by spherical normal modes in a 2.3-5 mHz frequency band. The scalar seismic moment M~ has a major influence on the amplitudes of free oscillations; additionally, the strike, dip, rake and depth of the hypocenter have mi- nor influences. We found that the synthetic modes corresponding to the focal mechanism determined by the Global Centroid Moment Tensor show agreement to the observed modes, suggesting that earthquake magnitudes predicted in this way can readily reflect the total energy released by the earthquake. The scalar seismic moment obtained by far-field body wave inver- sion is significantly underestimated. Focal mechanism solutions can be improved by joint inversion of far- and near-field data. 展开更多

CP-Violation from Spin-1 Resonances in a Left-Right Dynamical Higgs Context

New physics field content in the nature, more specifically, from spin-1 resonances sourced by the extension of the SM local gauge symmetry to the larger local group SU(2)_LSU(2)_R U(1)_(B-L), may induce CP-violation signalling NP effects from higher energy regimes. In this work we completely list and study all the CP-violating operators up to the p^4-order in the Lagrangian expansion, for a non-linear left-right electroweak chiral context and coupled to a light dynamical Higgs. Heavy right handed fields can be integrated out from the physical spectrum, inducing thus a physical impact in the effective gauge couplings, fermionic electric dipole moment, and CP-violation in the decay h→ ZZ*→4 l that are briefly analysed. The final relevant set of effective operators have also been identified at low energies. 展开更多

Cooling is very important for the safe operation of an electron cyclotron resonance ion source(ECRIS),especially when the window current density is very high(up to 11 A/mm2).We proposed an innovative cooling method using evaporative cooling technology.A demonstration prototype was designed,built and tested.The on-site test results showed that the temperature of the solenoids and permanent magnets maintains well in the normal operational range of 14–18 GHz.A simple computational model was developed to predict the characteristics of the two-phase flow.The predicted temperatures agreed well with the on-site test data within 2 K.We also proposed useful design criteria.The successful operation of the system indicates the potential for broad application of evaporative cooling technology in situations in which the power intensity is very high. 展开更多
