The impacts of video quality ar...A novel bandwidth prediction and control scheme is proposed for video transmission over an ad boc network. The scheme is based on cross-layer, feedback, and Bayesian network techniques. The impacts of video quality are formulized and deduced. The relevant factors are obtained by a cross-layer mechanism or Feedback method. According to these relevant factors, the variable set and the Bayesian network topology are determined. Then a Bayesian network prediction model is constructed. The results of the prediction can be used as the bandwidth of the mobile ad hoc network (MANET). According to the bandwidth, the video encoder is controlled to dynamically adjust and encode the right bit rates of a real-time video stream. Integrated simulation of a video streaming communication system is implemented to validate the proposed solution. In contrast to the conventional transfer scheme, the results of the experiment indicate that the proposed scheme can make the best use of the network bandwidth; there are considerable improvements in the packet loss and the visual quality of real-time video.K展开更多

A single molecular adsorption energy of (SCH3)m (rn=1-4) on Ag20 and the intermolecular substrate-mediated interaction energy were evaluated. The results revealed that there is a proportional relation between the single molecular adsorption energy and the substrate-mediated intermolecular interaction energy. The results qualitatively demonstrated the semi-empirical expression for the substratemediated interaction energy proposed previously by us is consistent with the results of the density functional theory.展开更多

In that study, we first established two class boundaries, which divide the area between the minimum and maximum range of an input feature value into three equal parts. Then, we produced self-organizing product maps using classification data inputs. Finally, we applied our method to five product types and confirmed its effectiveness. In this paper, we propose a method for selecting alternatives from a product map, in which we have located a favorite several examples of selecting alternatives and making decisions using cluster, and/or from a favorite component map. We utilized a self-organizing map (SOM) to cluster the player's style with the data obtained while playing the game. We further argued that style-based adaptation contributes to higher enjoyment, and this is reflected in our experiment using a supervised multilayered perceptron (MLP) network.展开更多

Our method extends the model of Lumsdaine & Papell[1] (1997), and it could be applied to ...This paper analyzes multiple structural changes by GMDH (Group Meth- ods of Data Handling), which have obvious advantages. Our method extends the model of Lumsdaine & Papell[1] (1997), and it could be applied to the case of more than two structural changes. Because of simultaneously considering every structural change of the hypothesis, it is likely to be of particular relevance in practice. And it can decrease large investigation costs by MATLAB programming. What is more, we can select the criterion value of F incremental statistic to control the significance of the breaks, based on kinds of investigation intentions. And the empirical evidences on Shenzhen Composite Index are presented to illustrate the usefulness of our method.展开更多
