In this paper, we develop a newly adaptive application offloading decision-transmission scheduling scheme which can solve above problem efficiently. Specifically, we first propose an adaptive application offloading model which allows multiple target clouds coexisting. Second, based on Lyapunov optimization theory, a low complexity adaptive offloading decision-transmission scheduling scheme has been proposed. And the performance analysis is also given. Finally, simulation results show that, compared with that all applications are executed locally, mobile device can save 68.557% average execution time and 67.095% average energy consumption under situations.展开更多

The index provides a realistic approach to recognize social and natural factors which contribute to successful adaptation and addresses several household functions, such as social networking, livelihood strategy, adjustment strategies, resource availability and accessibility. The proposed Adaptation Capability Index (ACI) is analytically defined, mathematically formulated and field tested on mountainous households in urban and semi-urban regions of the Uttarakhand Himalaya in India. To gather data on the topic relevant to the ACI, a household scale questionnaire was developed and administered to 12o heads of households through face-to-face interviews. The results highlight higher adaptive capability of urban households and low adaptation capacity of rural households due to poor farm productivity, low accessibility and availability of resources and technological input. Future programs and policies must include and implement regulations to remedy attributive factors responsible for higher adaptation. This paper may be applicable to other mountainous regions and may provide insights for effective adaptation strategies to climate change.展开更多

Methods LC3B expression was detected by immunohistochemistry in 53 human colorectal cancer tissues and 20 normal colon tissues. The protein levels of LC3B-Ⅱand active caspase-3 were also determined by Western blot analysis in 23 human colorectal cancer tissues and 10 normal colon tissues. Results LC3B was expressed both in cancer cells and normal epithelial cells.LC3B expression in the peripheral area of cancer tissues was correlated with several clinicopathological factors, including tumor differentiation(P=0.002),growth pattern of the tumor margin (P=0.028),pN(P=0.002),pStage(P=0.032),as well as vessel and nerve plexus invasion(P=0.002).The protein level of LC3B-Ⅱin cancer tissue was significantly higher than in normal tissue(P=0.038),but the expression of active forms of procaspase-3 in cancer tissue was lower(P=0.041).There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the expression levels of LC3B-Ⅱand the active forms of procaspase-3(r=0.537,P=0.008). Conclusions Autophagy has a prosurvival role in human colorectal cancer.Autophagy enhances the aggressiveness of colorectal cancer cells and their ability to adapt to apoptotic stimulus.展开更多

In this paper, we present a state-based channel capacity perception scheme to provide statistical Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees under a medium or high traffic load for IEEE 802.11 wireless multi-hop networks. The proposed scheme first perceives the state of the wireless link from the MAC retransmission information and extends this information to calculate the wireless channel capacity, particularly under a saturated traffic load, on the basis of the interference among flows and the link state in the wireless multi-hop networks. Finally, the adaptive optimal control algorithm allocates a network resource and forwards the data packet by taking into consideration the channel capacity deployments in multi-terminal or multi-hop mesh networks. Extensive computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve better performance in terms of packet delivery ratio and network throughput compared to the existing capacity prediction schemes.展开更多

During the navigation test of the self-propelled model, the complex environment including various port facilities, navigation facilities, and the ships nearby must be considered carefully, because in this dense environment the impact of sea waves and winds on the model is particularly significant. In order to improve the security of the self-propelled model, this paper introduces the Q learning based on reinforcement learning combined with chaotic ideas for the model's collision avoidance, in order to improve the reliability of the local path planning. Simulation and sea test results show that this algorithm is a better solution for collision avoidance of the self navigation model under the interference of sea winds and waves with good adaptability.展开更多

A power electronic interface not only adjusts the amount of active and reactive power injecting into a grid but also implements other importance duties as well. In this study, negative-sequence current injection has been fulfilled in three-phase power electronic interface for two important duties besides injecting reference power into utility grids. The first one is for islanding detection, and the other one is to enhance unbalance-fault ride-through capability of dispersed generation. This paper introduces a mechanism of negative-sequence injection based on controlling two separate coordinates of dq-control and explains the effect of negative-sequence injection in limiting the unbalanced currents generated from a dispersed generation. Using adaptive notch filter as a signal processing unit for the three-phase system, negative-sequence components are observed. The performance of entire control system is evaluated by time domain simulations, PSCAD/EMTDC (power systems computer aided design/electromagnetic transients including DC).展开更多

Here we (I) review recent work investigating behavioral and biological commonalities between external foraging in space and internal foraging over envi- ronments specified by cognitive representations, and (2) explore the implications of these commonalities for understanding the origins of the self. Behavioural commonalities include the capacity for what is known as area-restricted search in the ecological literature: this is search focussed around locations where resources have been found in the past, but moving away from locations where few resources arc found, and capable of producing movement pattems mimicking L6vy flights. Area-restricted search shares a neural basis across metazoans, and these biological commonalities in vertebrates suggest an evolutionary homology be- tween external and internal foraging. Internal foraging, and in particular a form we call embodied prospective foraging, makes available additional capacities for prediction based on search through a cognitive representation of the external environment, and allows predictions about outcomes of possible future actions. We demonstrate that cognitive systems that use embodied prospec- tive foraging require a primitive sense of self, needed to distinguish actual from simulated action. This relationship has implica- tions for understanding the evolution of autonoetic consciousness and self-awareness.展开更多
