It puts forth expectations on the exploitation and utilization of the Arctic Northeast Route in the aspects of safety, fastness, low costs, low consumption of energy and less pollution, knowledge of maritime law and navigation practice, building seaworthiness ships and making studies on the methods of sailing and maneuvering for navigation in polar waters, training qualified seafarers with navigation experiences in ice waters and establishing a safeguard system for the navigation in this route through the analysis on the weather, temperature, ice condition, route and hydrology encountered in the practice of a Chinese merchant ship in its maiden voyage in the route, and studies on the ice pilotage, convoy by icebreaker, practical condition of communication and navigation equipment in sea areas of high latitude and the economic benefit of the navigation in the Arctic Northeast Route.展开更多

Data was collected by a cross-sectional survey. The sample consisted of 640 Swedish employed engine room officers. A strong relationship was found between the psychosocial working conditions and perceived safety climate onboard (RZ = .204; P 〈 .001). While role conflict and role ambiguity showed a negative association, social support associated positively with safety climate onboard, lob demands and control showed no relation to safety climate. The conclusion is that the safety climate onboard is strongly associated with social and relational factors.展开更多

That means the risks allocated between the shipowner and the charterer throughout the chartering process (pre-fixture, fixture, execution of charter, post-fixture, claims handling), from a financial, operational and legal perspective. The interpretation of the above mentioned matters is considered of critical importance in chartering practice. The analysis is seen from a commercial stand point. Therefore, it is mostly addressed to the shipping practitioners, maritime economists, academics, students and researchers who seek to form a comprehensive view on the subject. It may also form a basis for further study on chartering aspects (legal, economic, managerial and practical).展开更多
