Sys- tematic investigations of synthetic conditions were conducted. The surface morphology and recognition mechanism of the obtained polymers were studied using scanning electron microscope and spectrophotometric analysis. MIPs showed high atTmity to template molecule and were successfully applied as special solid-phase extraction sorbent for selective extraction of crystal violet from natural seawater. An off-line molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) method followed by high-performance liquid chroma- tography with diodearray detection for the analysis of crystal violet was also established. MISPE columns have good recoveries for crystal violet standard solutions and good linearity was obtained over the concentration range of 0-200 ~tg L-1 (R2 〉 0.99). Finally, two natural seawater samples were investigated. The recoveries of spiked seawater on the MISPE columns were from 44.47% to 62.34%, the relative standard deviation (n=3) being in the range of 2.89%-5.96%.展开更多

In the context of the left-right twin Higgs (LRTH) model, we discuss single production of the new charged gauge boson WH^- , which is predicted by the left-right twin Higgs model, in association with top quark at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is found that, for a typical nonzero value of mass mixing parameter M = 150 GeV in the LRTH model, the production cross section is in the range of 3 ×10^-2 - 6.07×10^3 fb at the LHC. As long as the WH^- is not too heavy, the possible signatures of the heavy charged gauge boson might be detected at the LHC experiments.展开更多

They have attracted international attention as excellent sources of bioactive compounds for the discovery of new drugs. However, TCMs usually contain hundreds or even thousands of components and only a few of these compounds are responsible for the pharmacological effects. The large number of components in TCMs makes the analysis and screening for bioactive compounds extremely difficult. Therefore, strategies for analysis and screening of bioactive compounds in TCMs have long been a focus of studies on TCMs. Cell membrane chromatography (CMC) has become a useful tool for studying the bioactive compounds of TCMs. This review summarizes the principles, characteristics, and application of CMC, and the possible problems faced when working with TCMs. This method will likely become increasingly important for screening and analysis of hioactive compounds in TCMs.展开更多

We used comparative methods to examine patterns of evolution in multiple components of a complex courtship signal in darters, specifically addressing the question of how nuptial coloration evolves across different areas of the body. Using spectral reflectance, we defined 4 broad color classes present on the body and fins of 17 species of freshwater fishes (genus Etheostoma) and quantified differences in hue within each color class. Ancestral state reconstruction suggests that most color traits were expressed in the most recent common ancestor of sampled species and that differences among species are mostly due to losses in coloration. The evolutionary lability of coloration varied across body regions; we found sig- nificant phylogenetic signal for orange color on the body but not for most colors on fins. Finally, patterns of color evolution and hue Of the colors were correlated among the two dorsal fins and between the anterior dorsal and anal fins, but not between any of the fins and the body. The observed patterns support the hypothesis that different components of complex signals may be subject to distinct evolutionary pressures, and suggests that the combination of behavioral displays and morphology in communication may have a strong influence on patterns of signal evolution .展开更多

In the method, the mutual projections of the chromatographic profiles at different m/z channel are calculated using NNIA. Suppose a GC-MS data with m retention time points and n mass channels, the projections of the GC-MS data onto a chromatographic profile at a mass channel will form a mass spectrum of ln vector. If the chromatographic profile at a selective mass channel is used, the extracted mass spectrum will be a correct one. Therefore, by comparing the extracted mass spectrum with a reference spectrum, the selective ion can be identified, and the corresponding chromatographic profile can be obtained at the same time. GC-MS data of 40-pesticide mixture was investigated by the method. The results show that both the mass spectral and the chromatographic information of the interested components can be extracted from the overlapping signals, except for the special cases of isomeric components with very similar mass spectra.展开更多

In the present work, an "ensemble"-based colorimetric and fluorescent sensor(L2-Zn^(2+)) for CN^-ion has been developed. The addition of cyanide ions removed Zn^(2+) from the ensemble(L2-Zn^(2+)) in aqueous medium, resulting in a color change of the solution from red to buff and a "turn-on" fluorescent response. Also, the sensitivity of both the fluorescenceand colorimetric-based assay is below the maximum allowable level of cyanide ions in drinking water set by the World Health Organization. In addition, test strips, which served as convenient and efficient CN^- test kits, were fabricated based on the sensor.Notably, the selective detection of cyanide with L2-Zn^(2+) for practical application was also performed in sprouting potatoes.展开更多
