Process Characteristics of CO2 Absorption by Aqueous Monoethanolamine in a Microchannel Reactor

Process characteristics of CO2 absorption using aqueous monoethanolamine （MEA） in a microchannel reactor were investigated experimentally in this work. A T-type rectangular microchannel with a hydraulic diameter of 408μm was used. Operating parameters, i.e. temperature, pressure and molar ratio of MEA to CO2 were studied. Under 3 MPa pressure, the mole fraction of CO2 in gaslphase could decrease from 32.3% to 300×10-6 at least when gas hourly space velocity ranged from 14400 to 68600 h- and molar ratio of MEA to CO2 was kept at 2.2. In particular, the effects of temperature on CO2 absorption flux, mass transfer driving force, gas-liquid contact time and en- hancement factor were analyzed in detail and found that mass transfer enhancement by chemical reaction was a crucial factor for the orocess of CO9 absorotion.

Discussion on nitrogen and phosphorus removal process characteristics of improved oxidation ditch

In order to enhance efficiency of the nitrogen and phosphorus removal of sewage treatment plant, Taking Wu Long kou sewage treatment plant project in Zhengzhou as an example, this article introduces the structure, the working principle, the craft character, as well as the problems existed in the practical application of the improved oxidation ditch, and raises some corresponding processing countermeasures. Looked from the running situation of Wu Long kou sewage treatment plant, the improved oxidation ditch have certain advantages in city sewage treatment, such as high organic removing efficiency, good removing effect of nitrogen and phosphorus, low investing expenses and operating cost and so on. It is a craft that is worth promoting in urban sewage treatment.

The Radical Character of Art and the Pedagogical and Political Value of the ＂Sublime＂ in Adorno＇s Aesthetic Theory

The critical nature of artwork is owed, according to Adorno, to the fact that it opposes its assimilation by reason and that it does not yield to the imposition of its established principles. This character which Heidegger, too, through a paradoxical convergence with Adorno, and in opposition to Lukacs, recognizes as its ontological component, permits the work of art to represent a force of resistance to dominance in general, in the prospect of the salvation of a humanized society. As such, it makes possible the radical rejection of political and, pertinent to it, pedagogical activity, when converted into primarily authoritiarian activity. Such a responsibility does art assume, according to Adorno, when it represents a spirituality, which is embodied in exemplary fashion both in the work of art itself, making the experience of the sublime possible, and in the aesthetic of the sublime, which is concentrated intensively on whatever remains unapproachable through concepts. In this way, we could say that the aesthetic of the sublime is converted into ＂first philosophy,＂ in the sense that it provides the rule for every theoretical approach. Concurring with this reading of Adorno, we consider how the sublime, as shown in the context of his aesthetic theory, is governed, furthermore, by a paideutic principle of exceptional significance, which we must necessarily activate through aesthetic education, so that western man may understand that he must uproot himself from the nihilistic social context in which he lives, rupturing the delusion of his omnipotence. In a world governed by a permanent crisis of democracy in public and private life, since the weakening of political imagination unites with the retreat from political ethos and an generalization of the unprecedented will for dominance, we consider this aesthetic theory to be exceptionally essential and useful to us both as pedagogical theory and as political theory, since it allows us to understand that the experience of the sublime through art is in opposition to this condition of destruction, and indeed represents the ideal of justice.

Structural Design of Fiumara d＇Arte Land Art Works

Fiumara d＇arte is an open-air museum of sculpture and contemporary art. Among the art-works of Fiumara d＇arte, the Pyramid is the last one in order of time. It is a monumental sculpture made of COR-TEN steel, by the artist Mauro Staccioli and it is located on one specific point of the 38th parallel of latitude, on a hill of the northern mountains of Sicily. In this study the architectural and engineering features of land art-works built in this particular plein-air park are examined and discussed. After a general description of Fiumara d＇Arte and its significance in the territory, the case of the Pyramid on the 38th parallel is focalized and a discussion of its architectural, artistic and environmental values is reported. Moreover the structural implications in its design and construction are explained, while the worst effects of external actions are underlined by showing the results of the analysis performed on a finite element model of the whole structure.

The Palmanova Cantonments： Conservation, Value-Enhancement and Transformation for an Integrated and Overall Regeneration

Italian military real-estate is highly varied as regards its location, intended uses, its typological, stylistic, and constructive features and its state of conservation. What historical and documental value can we attribute to the typological and technical aspects of military buildings？ What problems and strategies have to be studied before such buildings can be repurposed for inclusion into a circuit of social and civil uses？ Some attempts were made to answer these questions by analysing the military real estate of Palmanova, the fortress city founded by the Serenissima Republic of Venice in 1593, a city designed by engineers, military analysts, and expert military architects all answerable to the Fortifications Office of Venice. There are a number of barracks situated inside the city＇s fortified walls, within a somewhat confined area： Montezemolo, Isonzo, Ederle, Filzi, Montesanto and others in outlying villages. Barracks built in different periods （some during the Renaissance, others in the eighteenth century and some even after the Second World War） have been gradually phased out of service. Their restoration and functional leverage, in the early years of this century, were discussed in terms of an economic and cultural strategy that would not upset the city. New regeneration strategies are called for if these abandoned military structures are not to undergo further deterioration. These strategies should be based upon a knowledge of these structures＇ features--their layout, architecture, technologies--and should also embrace local policies, but first and foremost they require real, contextualized and economically sustainable projects.

Particular Ways of Planting in Cemeteries of Siauliai City （Lithuania）

The issue of cemetery planting is not yet sufficiently studied in Lithuania. Cemetery is one of the sites where people could give way to their subjective comprehension of beauty. Analysis of the cemetery planting revealed certain noticeable features that could be ascribed to the forms of folk art. These are various objects with implied specific content or ornamented compositions. The aim of the research was to ascertain and distinguish graves characterised by specific planting features associated with plants, their layouts on graves. Analysis of the research results shows that two options form the peculiarities of grave planting： depiction of specific objects and ornamentation.We think that majority of the ornaments are made with the single purpose of decoration, and do not associate with symbolic meanings. During this research the graves decorated with planted symbolic objects and ornaments were distinguished. This phenomenon becomes more and more popular in cemeteries of Siauliai city in Lithuania.

Analysis of Buddhist sculpture art in Wei, Jin, southern and Northern Dynasties

The emergence and development of Buddhist sculpture has completely changed the original Chinese ancient sculpture, rich China sculpture theme, greatly promote the development of the Chinese sculpture, in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, Buddhist sculpture received considerable development, the art form is abundant, representative of the ＂ slim but clear appearance＂ and＂ images of noble figures ＂two kinds of modeling features.
