The first is characterized by a high yield and wide adaptation, and the second by its super fiber property. Substitution line in which a pair of intact chromosomes of TM_1 ( G. hirsutum ) were replaced by a pair of homozygous chromosomes of 3_79 ( G. barbadense ) is an excellent material for genetic research and molecular tagging. In this study, substitution line 16 (Sub 16) was used to evaluate the performance of the 16th chromosome in G. barbadense in TM_1 background. The genetic analysis using the major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance model in F 2∶3 family revealed that there might exist 2 QTLs respectively for boll size, lint percentage, lint index, fiber length and the first fruit branch node, 1 QTL for fiber elongation and flowering date, and no QTL for seed index, fiber strength and Micronaire in chromosome 16. However, 9 QTLs (LOD (logarithm of odds)≥3.0) controlling 6 quantitative traits were significantly identified in linkage group of chromosome 16 constructed in (TM_1×3_79) F 2by interval mapping. Among them, 1 QTL for boll size, fiber length, flowering date and fiber elongation could explain 15.2%, 19.7%, 12.1%, and 11.7% phenotypic variance respectively, 2 QTLs for lint index could explain 11.6% and 41.9%, and 3 QTLs for lint percentage could explain 8.7%, 9.6% and 29.2% phenotypic variance respectively. One unlinked SSR marker was associated with one QTL respectively for boll size and flowering date and they could explain 1.60% and 4.63% phenotypic variance. The traits associated significantly with chromosome 16 from Sub 16 were boll weight, lint percentage, lint index, fiber length, fiber elongation and flowering days.展开更多

The 184 F-3 families were evaluated in the field under well-watered and drought-stressed regimes in Shanxi Province of China. The objectives of the study were to identify genetic segments responsible for the expression of anthesis-silking interval (ASI), ear setting and grain yield, and to examine if the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for ASI or yield components can be used in marker-assisted selection (MAS) to improve grain yield under drought conditions. Results showed that under well-watered and drought-stressed regimes, three and two QTLs involved in the expression of ASI were detected on chromosomes 1, 2 and 3, and 2 and 5, respectively. Under well-watered regime, two QTLs for ear setting were detected on chromosomes 3 and 6, explaining about 19.9% of the phenotypic variance, and displayed additive and partial dominant effects, respectively. Under drought-stressed condition, four QTLs for ear setting were detected on chromosomes 3, 7 and 10, which were responsible for interpreting 60.4% of the phenotypic variance, and showed dominant or partial dominant effects. Under well-watered condition, four QTLs controlling grain yield were identified on chromosomes 3, 6 and 7, while five QTLs were identified under drought stress on chromosomes 1, 2, 4 and 8. The gene action was of additive or partial dominant effects, and each QTL could explain 7.3% to 22.0% of the phenotypic variance, respectively. Under drought conditions, ASI and ear setting percentage were highly correlated with grain yield, which can be used as secondary traits for grain yield selection. Based on linked markers detected and gene action analyzed, an MAS strategy for yield improvement under drought condition could be established, which consists of QTLs contributing to decreased ASI and to increased ear setting and grain yield, respectively.展开更多

Recent technological advances and ...Cotton is one of the most important crops throughout the history of India and it also plays an important role in social and economic aspects of the Indian society in the present age. Recent technological advances and trade liberalization have made India a major player in international cotton markets. In the year 2011-2012, India was the world's second largest producer, consumer and exporter of cotton. The increasing role of the Indian cotton sector in international markets is a direct challenge to other major players like the US. Within this context, a better understanding of the Indian cotton sector and the impact of mechanization on cotton cultivation are needed. The overall objective of this paper is to assess the competitiveness of Indian cotton producers and potential implications for India as a competitor in the world cotton market if it mechanizes harvesting of cotton. The results demonstrate that the net income of the Indian cotton farmers will increase considerably with the mechanization of cotton harvesting. But the adoption of the practice of harvesting cotton by mechanical means is possible only if efforts from many private and public agencies come together. In that scenario, the cotton production in India can increase considerably which can impact the international markets.展开更多

The results show that from 2001 to 2016, average temperature tended to increase in the growth period of spring peanut in Dengzhou City, but the increasing trend was slow; precipitation showed a decreasing trend on the whole (it increased at the sowing and flowering stage); sunshine duration reduced year by year (the decreasing trend was different at various growth stages), but the decrease of sunshine duration was more obvious than that of precipitation. Based on the analysis of meteorological conditions and the growth rules of spring peanut, it is needed to scientifically choose varieties of spring peanut, plan suitable sowing patterns, apply and manage- fertilizer and water to reasonably realize sustainable high-yield of spring peanut based on its safe stable yield.展开更多

In this context, this paper assesses the competitiveness of Indian cotton producers and potential implications for India as a competitor in the world cotton market. This paper developed an updated estimate of the costs of cotton production in India and developed representative farm models for cotton production in three important cotton production states (Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh) of India. In this research, Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) methodology has been adopted to collect information for developing representative farm models. These models are further subjected to stochastic simulation to understand the impact of government policies like subsidies to various inputs on farm level profitability and ultimately on the competitiveness of Indian cotton in international markets. This paper also analyzed the impact of national fiber policy of the government of India on the cotton processing sector in India. The results demonstrate that the net income of the cotton farmers will decrease considerably without the presence of fertilizer subsidies. The study also concludes that if the objectives of the national fiber policy are fulfilled, India will export more of value added cotton products like textiles and garments rather than raw cotton.展开更多

The aim was to establish the optimal approach for heterosis prediction and parent selection. Plant traits data were collected and analyzed for GRA. In addition, 72 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were examined and 148 polymorphisms were detected. Correlation analysis of GRA, genetic identity, Ft fiber quality and yield heterosis was conducted. Significant differences were observed between the two analytic methods, whereas compa- rable predictions were given for yield heterosis. GRA for yield exhibited slightly higher correlation than genetic identity analysis, with a correlation coefficient of 0.49. GRA and genetic analysis exhibited overlapping yet dis- tinct advantages in heterosis prediction. Therefore, these analytical methods should be integrated to achieve the op- timal heterosis prediction and parent selection.展开更多

[Method] GGE biplot analysis method was adopted to analyze the correlation among N, P and K fertilizer application rate and lint cotton yield with the dataset of national cotton regional trials of the Yangtze River Val ey during 1991-2013. The linear and nonlinear regression analysis method was used to reveal the evolution of the fertilizer applying patterns, and analyze the effects of N, P, K application rates on cotton lint yield. [Result] The application rates of N, P and K fertilizer presented highly significant positive corre-lation with lint cotton yield, among which the potassium fertilizer was the strongest relative factor with lint cotton yield, fol owed by phosphorus fertilizer, while nitrogen fertilizer was the weakest factor. The application rate of nitrogen fertilizer was relat-ed with the test year in the pattern of a quadratic function, while phosphate and potassium had progressive increase linear relation with the test year in the cotton planting region of the Yangtze River Val ey. Meanwhile, cotton lint yield was in re-sponse to nitrogen fertilizer content increase with a quadratic parabola function, and increased with the applying phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer content with linearly increasing function. [Conclusion] The increasing application amount of N, P and K fertilizer was general y beneficial to cotton yield improvements, however, ex-orbitant applying nitrogen fertilizer was unfavorable for cotton production, and a reasonable mixture formula of N, P and K fertilizer was better in terms of cotton yield-increasing effect.展开更多

Under drought conditions, ASI and ear setting percentage were highly correlated with grain yield, which can be used as secondary traits for grain yield selection. Based on linked markers detected and gene action analyzed, an MAS strategy for yield improvement under drought condition could be established, which consists of QTLs contributing to decreased ASI and to increased ear setting and grain yield, respectively.

Adding trace elements Fe and B could increase the peanut yield, and 1.5% Fe and 1% B gave the best result. [Conclusion] This study will provide reference for modifying the seed coating agent formula.
文摘Cotton is one of the most important crops throughout the history of India and it also plays an important role in social and economic aspects of the Indian society in the present age. In that scenario, the cotton production in India can increase considerably which can impact the international markets.
文摘The changes of meteorological factors such as average temperature, pre- cipitation and sunshine duration in the whole growth period and at various growth stages of spring peanut in Dengzhou City during 2001-2016 were analyzed, and their effects on the growth and development of spring peanut were discussed. Based on the analysis of meteorological conditions and the growth rules of spring peanut, it is needed to scientifically choose varieties of spring peanut, plan suitable sowing patterns, apply and manage- fertilizer and water to reasonably realize sustainable high-yield of spring peanut based on its safe stable yield.
文摘India is a major player in international cotton markets as it is the world's second largest cotton producer, consumer and exporter in 2009-2010. The study also concludes that if the objectives of the national fiber policy are fulfilled, India will export more of value added cotton products like textiles and garments rather than raw cotton.

文摘Ten upland cotton strains exhibiting 3 fiber quality traits and 8 yield traits, were grown for two years in an investigation of the correlation between grey relational analysis (GRA) and genetic identity in heterosis of cot- ton hybrid. Therefore, these analytical methods should be integrated to achieve the op- timal heterosis prediction and parent selection.

文摘[Objective] The historical evolution pattern of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilizer application rate and its effects on lint cotton yield were explored to provide the theoretical basis for reasonable fertilizer management strate-gy in the cotton planting region of the Yangtze River Val ey. [Conclusion] The increasing application amount of N, P and K fertilizer was general y beneficial to cotton yield improvements, however, ex-orbitant applying nitrogen fertilizer was unfavorable for cotton production, and a reasonable mixture formula of N, P and K fertilizer was better in terms of cotton yield-increasing effect.
