This protein, and apparently inhibited the growth of Fusarium vasinfectum Atk., Gibberella saubinetii (Mont.) Sacc., and Piricularia oryzae Cav. A set of degenerate PCR primer was synthesized according to the N-terminal sequence of the purified protein. The full-length cDNA coding the lectin was cloned by RT-PCR and 5'-RACE and sequenced (GenBank AF285121). The deduced amino acid sequence indicates that a preprotein with 284 amino acid residues is firstly translated and then processed to a mature protein with 254 amino acids. A N-Glycosylation site is the Asn 182 residue.展开更多

[Method] Active carbon was used to debitterze naringin and limonin from con-centrated orange juice. [Result] Through single-factor experiment and sensory as-sessment, the optimum debittering technique was identified as temperature at 20 ℃, active carbon at 35 g/L (soluble solid content 50.5%), processing time of 20 min. Under above conditions, the removal rates of naringin and limonin in concentrated juice were 49.5% and 73.5% respectively. [Conclusion] Debittering endows the con-centrated juice with gentle flavor and mild taste.展开更多

Music ennobles him to a level of friendship with the Creator. Tagore's poems are suffused with wonder at the melodies spun by the lord. These entrance the entire universe. The poet wants to sign the same way but cannot. He has been made captive in the meshes of his music. The objective of the present study is to show how Tagore unites with God through songs. Methodology adopted in this study is the dynamic analysis of the poems. The intrinsic idea is the recurrent theme in his songs using me as an offering of worship O Lord, even if thou inflict pain on me in the process. Numerous bereavements in his life, from early youth to old age, agonized him throughout. But the more he suffered, the stronger grew his faith so he could write this song. The refrain, re-iterated from the beginning to the end, enhances the musicality. Thus it can be concluded when the poet perceived the world through songs, then he knew the world and he recognized it.展开更多

The author addresses the inadequacy of consolation as mere verbiage, and then brings to mind an expanded understanding of discourse-as-comportment to offer the possibility of deep consolation for the suffering other in the groundlessness of the tragic situation, which the author calls "abysmal consolation". In the realization that discourse is also the embodied consolation of being-with the suffering other in a shattered lifeworld, both sufferer and carer of souling are freed up to meet each other in a place that was heretofore presumed to be an alienated and speechless place.展开更多

Of particular interest is how these voices narrate feelings of struggle in order to cope with their own needs and the needs of a disabled woman. How this situation affected their way of living, their views about life through gender-sex, violent, discriminatory, psycho-social and cultural perspectives (Lamas, 2002)? This study also draws from Hydrn's ideas regarding narratives about illness to identify diverse forms to represent reality by means of creating affective bonds, including aspects such as plot, metaphors and the construction or reconstruction of the Self (1995; 1997), which can be related to the transformation of the narrative identity (Ricoeur, 1995; 1996) of each caregiver. This study aims to open other scenarios to establish public policies of support for caregivers and for the disabled, and to question the role that government and medical institutional have played in order to benefit the society as a whole.展开更多

Hyperuricemic rats were generated by intraperitoneal injection of 250 mg/kg potassium oxonate to each animal 1 h before the last oral administration of test compounds, which raised the serum uric acid level by inhibiting the decomposition of uric acid. Levels of uric acid and creatinine in serum and urine were detected by the phosphotungstic acid and picric acid methods respectively, and the activity of xanthine oxidase(XOD) was assayed using a commercial test kit.RESULTS: RPP15(0.4, 0.8, 1.2 g/kg) significantly decreased the level of serum uric acid in healthy rats(P < 0.05). Furthermore, hyperuricemic rats treated with RPP15(0.4, 0.8, 1.2 g/kg) had lower serum uric acid levels(P < 0.05), accompanied by lower urine uric acid(P < 0.05). For the hyperuricemic mice, the levels of uric acid in the serum decreased significantly(P < 0.05) and the activity of XOD in the liver was restored to normal levels after treatment with RPP15(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: RPP15(0.4, 0.8, 1.2 g/kg) demonstrated an anti-hyperuricemic effect on both healthy and hyperuricemic animals, and the mechanism is most likely associated with inhibiting the activity of XOD.展开更多
