文摘A novel Schiff base was synthesized by the reaction of terephthaldehyde with thiosemicarbazide. The structure was confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis, 1H NMR and X-ray single crystal diffractometry and the composition of the compound is identified as C16H26N8O2S2. The preliminary anti-bacterial activity tests showed the Schiff base possesses an inhibition activity towards Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis.
