The results show that particle size influences the scheelite recovery and the performance of combined reagents. The scheelite recovery is lowered by adding fine particles (<10μm) into the pulp containing coarse particles. Extended DLVO (EDLVO) theory confirms that the fine fractions (<10μm) could interface with the coarse fractions. The interaction energy and fluid forces are relative to the particle size, which might explain why the fine fractions influence the scheelite flotation. The highest recovery of scheelite using combined reagents as collector and optimum ratio of combined reagents were determined by scheelite particle size and reagent performance. However, the optimum adding order was only determined by reagent performance, which has nothing to do with particle size.展开更多

Flotation results showed that NaOL alone had good collecting performance on smithsonite and common gangue mineral dolomite but had poor selectivity. By using a BHA/NaOL mixed system with a molar ratio of 2:1, the recoveries of smithsonite and dolomite reached approximately 90% and 5%, respectively. Surface tension analysis showed that the surface activity of BHOA was a little higher than that of a single NaOL because of synergistic effects. Zeta potential and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements indicated that surfactants BHA and NaOL co-absorbed on the smithsonite surface and only NaOL was present on the dolomite surface in the presence of BHOA.展开更多

Because the application of calorimetry does not depend upon knowledge of concentration profiles, it has the advantage over other real-time analyses. Estimated kinetic parameters were compared with the ones obtained with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The chosen reaction was ethyl benzoate saponification performed in homogeneous reaction medium, although it is known as heterogeneous reaction. Thus, the rate expression was developed where no mass transfer is considered. The reaction was carried out in a MettlerTM RCI reaction calorimeter.展开更多

Different organic compounds including benzothiophene (BT), dibenzothiophene (DBT), 4, 6-dimethyl dibenzothiophene (4, 6-DMDBT) were used to investigate the reactivity of this catalyst, and the effect of various parameters, such as temperature, solvents and the amount of oxidant reagent used in oxidative desulfurization reaction, was also examined. The results showed that the Na2WO4- H202 system was very effective for oxidative desulfurization, and the oxidation of BT, DBT and 4, 6-DMDBT was influenced by different parameters.展开更多

Rate constants (kd) of liquid drainage equation could be obtained from the above empirical equation. In this paper, the stability of the colloidal gas aphrons (CGAs), the effect of concentrations of sodium dodecyl benzene sulphate (SDBS), dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide (HTAB) and polyoxyethylene sorbitol anhydride monolaurate(Tween-20), temperature, stirring speed, stirring time, and various kinds of salts on the kd of liquid drainage are further investigated. The results show that the Arrhenius equation can be successfully used to describe the relation between kd arid absolute temperature (T), and concentrations of surfactants, stirring speed, stirring time and salinities also have great effect on the kd. At last, the CGAs drainage mechanism is explained from analysis of the rate of liquid drainage as a function of time.展开更多

We reported a 28-year-old woman who was diagnosed with OTCD during her first pregnancy. She was treated with arginine, citrulline and sodium benzoate for complications associated with hyperammonemia, and her protein intake was restricted. The patient’s condition was stabilized, and she delivered a baby boy via cesarean section. However, the baby died 2d later. During her second pregnancy, prenatal screening suggested that the fetus had OTCD, and an induced abortion was performed. During her third pregnancy, fetal OTCD was ruled out, and the patient was treated with oral sodium benzoate. Her blood ammonia level was stabilized, and a baby boy was successfully delivered via cesarean section. This case described the treatment process of the pregnant patient with OTCD, and the safety and efficacy of sodium benzoate were evaluated. Collectively, our findings provided the experience and evidence for the drug selection and treatment of these rare diseases.展开更多
