基于核心素养的“目标+任务型”教学在英语听说课中的应用策略

提升英语课堂教学质量关键在于提高学科语言能力、学习能力、思维品质和文化意识。将“目标+任务型”教学方法应用于英语听说课,有助于优化教学方式,促进学生综合语言运用能力的形成与发展,提升学生的核心素养。文章提出在英语教学中,教师应结合课程总目标,根据学段目标制订相应的课堂目标。通过明确课堂目标,设计可听、可说、可读、可写、可思、可学、可测、可评的教学任务。

元认知策略在高中英语听力教学中的运用

In English language teaching, learning strategies are essential for improving students＇ learning efficiency as well as cultivate students＇ ability of self-regulated learning; and metacognitive strategy is of such strategies, which has attracted many language teachers＇ attention. However, not many research have focus on listening teaching on the level of senior high school in China's Mainland. This research is to fill in this gap with an introduction to listening strategies in metacognitive strategies and a sample of listening class design.

Study of accent differences among regional varieties of English

The globalization and nativization processes of English resulted in the appearance of a large number of regional varieties of English. Concerning their accent between the single norm theory and the multiple norm differences, there has always been a debate theory. This paper argues against the ＇standard-nonstandard＇ classification of English accents upheld by the former, and revises the concept of ＇the three concentric circles of English＇ proposed by the latter, providing some helpful tips on the current instruction of listening and speaking in China＇s colleges and universities.

English Listening Teaching： A Perspective from the Ethnic Minority in China

Listening and speaking is of great importance in language communication, which is being paid close attention to in TEFL in China. However, as most of ethnic minorities are living far away from developed districts, they lack necessary sources in English listening teaching, which makes the local learners＇ listening ability not so satisfactory. This paper, based on the questionnaire, analyzes the problems existing in current English listening teaching in ethnic minority districts, and puts forward some suggestive solutions.

On Developing Listening Competence of Non-English Majors

The skill of listening with comprehension plays a vital part in English teaching and learning. The continual reform of college English teaching and learning methods is in great demand to improve students＇ competence of listening. In the one-year survey and studies of the non-English majors＇ listening competence in Shandong University of Finance, the author designed a questionnaire on listening comprehension, made an analysis and clarified the methods of developing listening skills as well as the ways of creating the English environment, in the hope that it could be of some help to the teaching of English listening in SUF.

Schema theory and its application in teaching listening for non-English major undergraduates

Both empirical research findings and teaching experiences show that most non-English major undergraduates who are poorly aware of the cognitive psychological aspect of listening usually pay far greater attention to their improvement of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, etc. only in listening class. That might be part of the reason, and the author will discuss the application of information-processing model theory, schema theory in particular from the angle of cognitive psychology in listening comprehension course, hoping to remove barriers in the listening procedure to achieve better progress for students in listening ability.

Exploration of campus-network-based listening and speaking

Computer-assisted language leaming is a trend in the language teaching field of the 21st century and it is also advocated by the latest college English curriculum requirements. To test this model, we＇ve conducted an experiment on a campus-network-based listening and speaking course with 869 students from the NAAU since the 2005-2006 academic years. It has been proved that the new model enjoys great advantages over the conventional teacher-and-recorder teaching, though it is not thoroughly free from limitations or problems. On the one hand, this new model may provide students with authentic language sample, richer materials, interactive platform, friendly context, ect; on the other hand, factors such as costly hardware and software, non-stopping changes, lack of talents and inadequate funds are all preventing it from playing its role to full extent. Thus counter measures should be taken as soon as possible to break the bottleneck restricting the model from further development.

The Strategies on the Chinese College Student＇s English Listening and Speaking Ability Based on MOOC

English is now, as a universal language, the main tool for communication among people all over the world. The English listening and speaking ability is the key to it. But the status-quo of Chinese student＇s English listening and speaking ability is disappointing. This paper tries to analyze the necessity of improving their English listening and speaking ability and put forward some strategies on it based on MOOC which includes teaching online and teaching offline.

An Empirical Study of Applying English Films and TV Programs to English-Listening Teaching

This is a study of the feasibility and effects of teaching listening with films and TV programs. The research is a part of the English Learning Program directed by ZHANG Zhen, which is sponsored by Academic Affairs Office of Leshan Normal University. The researcher of the program sought for theretical bases from Krashen＇s Input Hypothesis, the Motivation Theory, the Context Theory, and the Communicative Language Teaching Theory. Then the author introduced a pilot study conducted by utilizing films or TV programs to teach listening from September 2010 till now. The statistic results from the experiment suggest that there is indeed some correlations between teaching listening with films or TV programs and a learner＇s listening comprehension in general in language achievement tests at certain stages. The scores of the students from the experimental group are improved after two years of teaching with the new methods. Analyses and discussions have been done based on a questionnaire and an interview. The results showed that both the teachers and the students had positive attitudes towards teaching listening with films or TV programs. Most of them view this method as an effective way in ELT （English language teaching）, because it provides more opportunities for contextual practice, lower their anxiety; it can also help to motivate them, stimulate their active participation and increase their activities as well. Therefore, this method can be used to cultivate students＇ communicative competence. Consequently, we can draw the conclusion that this method has some advantages over teaching listening with the pre-taped materials in New College English. It may play an important role in ELT, especially in listening teaching. Based on the statistic analyses and the survey, some activities and techniques are provided for the teacher on how to teach listening with films or TV programs. The roles that an English teacher plays in this method are illustrated at the end of the thesis.

The Influence of English Movies on English Listening Teaching in College

Listening, in language teaching, is a skill that requires active engagement. To help their students become effective listeners becomes one of the great challenging tasks for the language teachers. In the Chinese contexts, this challenge is greater for college English teachers, for listening skills, an important part of communication skills, have not been given as much attention as reading or writing skills in teaching non-English majors, especially a decade ago. This paper introduces English movies on English listening teaching in college, and puts forward some application strategies of English movies in English listening teaching.

A Study of College Students＇ Autonomous English Listening Ability

Based on the data got from questionnaire in which 75 college students from Heze University participated, the present study aims to explore the current situation of college students＇ autonomous listening ability, its gender difference and the correlation between autonomous listening ability and CET-4 listening achievement. The results indicate that the autonomous listening ability for college students is at the medium level with a great individual difference and there＇s a vast space to be promoted. Moreover, there＇s no significant gender difference in autonomous listening ability for college students and there＇s significant positive correlation between autonomous listening ability and CET-4 Listening achievement, especially the dimension of Application of Strategies. Thus, a conclusion can be drawn that in English listening teaching, teachers should change their teaching model and strengthen the application of network teaching; in English listening learning, English learners should promote their ability of using strategies in English listening in order to improve their autonomous learning ability.

Influence Of English Movies On College English Listening Teaching

Effects of visuals on simulated CET-3 listening test

In real-time situation, listeners rely on linguistic knowledge as well as contextual information to process acoustic signals, while presently in China, most listening comprehension tests do not include visuals （visuals bearing content or contextual information） to facilitate the listening. The present paper chooses several simulated CET-3 listening comprehension as the experimental materials and tries to investigate the effects of different types of visuals, such as pictures, diagrams, and photos of the speakers＇ part, with items on the CET-3 listening tests.

The Applicability in Selection of American sitcoms as Materials for Teaching English listening and speaking

English Sitcoms are widely welcomed by teachers and students, but it has been debatable whether they are suitable for teaching material in English teaching. Though in these sitcoms spoken English with full-filled humor is the main feature, there is still a long distance between real and Actors＇ lines. Through English spoken feature, we take American popular long sitcom ＂Friends＂ and ＂Big Bang＂ as the example, combined the analysis of real spoken language in the sitcom in order to dig out the suitability when we need to select appropriate teaching material.

A Study of Higher Vocational Students＇ English Listening Comprehension Within the Framework of Relevance Theory

Listening comprehension plays a crucial and necessary part in people＇s daily communication and Second Language Acquisition （SLA）. It is an important way to communicate with others; also it is the foundation of mastering a foreign language. However, the higher vocational students usually lack the background information about the listening materials and seldom know how to make inferences according to the specific contexts. The author conducted an empirical study lasting one semester in Higher Vocational College of Dahongying University trying to apply Relevance Theory to listening comprehension and guide listening comprehension learning within the framework of Relevance Theory to finally improve higher vocational students＇ ability of listening comprehension.

Effects of the Pre-Task Planning Mode on the Listening Comprehension of Chinese EFL Learners

This study aims at investigating the effects of the pre-task planning mode on listening comprehension of Chinese EFL （English as a foreign language） learners as well as students＇ opinions towards the pre-task planning mode Three step~., namely, concept mapping, strategic planning, as well as rehearsal, are employed in the pre-task planning mode in the present study. There are altogether 40 second-year English majors participated in the present study, and they are randomly assigned into the experimental group and the control group. The instruments employed in the present study to achieve the research purposes include the listening comprehension test, the teacher＇s log, the students＇ opinion questionnaires, the students＇ open-ended questionnaires, and the semi-structured interviews. Research findings revealed that there were significant main effects on the listening comprehen,;ion of Chinese EFL learners after the training by the pre-task planning mode. Moreover, the students held positive attitudes towards the pre-task planning mode

Construction Strategy Exploration of College English Listening and Speaking Course Under the Network Environment

Application of Task-based Teaching Method to College Audio-visual English Teaching

Based on the current situation of college audio-visual English teaching in China, this article points out that the avoidance in class is a serious phenomenon in the process of college audio-visual English teaching. After further analysis and combination with the characteristics of college English audio-visual teaching in China, it puts forward the application of task-based teaching method to college audio-visual English teaching and its steps, attempting to alleviate the avoidance phenomenon in students through task-based teaching method.
