本文从课堂实践的层面对新课改理念下的初中英语语法教学方法进行了探索，认为英语语法教学交际化是初中英语语法教学的有效途径之一。

采用形式各异的教学方法,激活ESA模式下的语法教学

本文通过分析了当前语法教学的现状，来探讨在ESA模式下的三个阶段：投入阶段、学习阶段和活动阶段中分别采用形式各异的教学方法，激发学生学习语法的兴趣，培养学生的探究精神并且培养学生的创新精神。本文结合教学实践，介绍视听法、提问激趣法、复述法、翻译法、归纳法、辩论法等语法教学中所使用的方法，提高语法教学的有效性。

Non-neutrality of English and English language teaching

Due to the popularity of English, English language teaching has taken up an important position in China＇s education. Teachers of English may seldom consider the power behind this widely-used language during the teaching process. This article starts with revealing the power behind language so as to let teachers be aware of the hidden power behind English language and be conscious that English language is not neutral. At the same time, it reminds teachers of English to have a critical attitude on their teaching practice and help students to balance the study of Chinese and English.

Writing review articles as means to develop ESP writing skills

The present paper summarizes the current learning and teaching of ESP in higher medical education in China and suggests that some writing programs may help students of medical major writer better. Considering the multi-disciplinary characteristics of the class, the author has focused the writing lessons on review articles and received satisfactory outcomes.

Transitional methodologies of the second language grammar teaching in middle schools

Grammar teaching recently faces lots of problems not only in the teaching methods but also in its position it deserves. Through analyzing the importance and the confronting problems of grammar teaching in middle schools, the paper will do the further research on the methodologies in the transitional time and will surely conclude the theories that can direct teaching process.

To what extent should grammar be taught for the students of English majors in China？

The purpose of this paper is to show the importance of grammar teaching for the students of English majors in China and to provide an integrated teaching method for the teachers of English in China and colleagues in similar situations outside of China, through the analysis of the nature and role of grammar, of the importance of form depending upon the students＇ and instructional variables, and of using texts communicatively, in English teaching.

On multi-dimensional vocabulary teaching mode for college English teaching

This paper analyses the major approaches in EFL （English as a Foreign Language） vocabulary teaching from historical perspective and puts forward multi-dimensional vocabulary teaching mode for college English. The author stresses that multi-dimensional approaches of communicative vocabulary teaching, lexical phrase teaching method, the grammar translation approach as well as audio-lingual method should be adopted, tasks should be designed and context be constructed to improve learners＇ vocabulary acquiring competence and language competence.

Systemic Functional Grammar and its pedagogical implications

This paper focuses on the application of systemic Functional Grammar （SFG） to language study. By providing a sample of text analysis from the systemic functional point of view, the paper illustrates how this approach can be helpful to language teaching.

The constructivist educational effectiveness of TM-aided specialized translation

This article evaluated the constructivist pedagogical effectiveness of a TM-aided specialized translation project tested on 16 undergraduates at a technological university using student reflections and the questionnaire for qualitative analysis. The results showed that TMs-students-instructor interaction facilitated the learning of specialized translation strategies, meeting the constructivist educational principle of ＂interaction＂. In addition, students effectively constructed new translation knowledge through the negotiation of the differences between student and professional translators＇ translations, concurring with the constructivist educational principle of ＂conflict resolution＂. Finally, students successfully learned technical skills of the Trados tool through hands-on practice, and cognitively acquired specialized translation knowledge through reflections writing and oral presentations, fitting the constructivist educational principle of ＂active participation＂. Overall, most students＇ positive responses justified the constructive educational effectiveness of TM-aided specialized translation through TMs consultation, peer help and the instructor support in the self-paced and student-centered learning environment.

The comparison between written DCT and oral role-plays in investigation upon English refusal strategies by Chinese EFL students

The present study is a comparison study of research instrument in the field of interlanguage pragmatics. Sixty-two Chinese EFL university students participated in the study. Written DCT and oral role-plays were designed in four stimulus types of refusal strategies--refusals to invitations, suggestions, offers and requests. Chi-square test and frequency were used for quantitative data and transcription of the tests was used for the qualitative data. The results show that there is no significant difference between the two tests in terms of strategies choices, but written DCT can produce a longer sentence while oral role-plays can yield a more natural expression.

A comparative study of differences in writing strategies among Chinese EFL learners, overseas Chinese ESL learners, and Northern American ENL learners

This paper concerns study of learning strategies from language learners. In the light of the types and models of strategies found in the study of ESL （English as a Second Language） learners＇ strategies abroad, the authors have summed up and induced 3 group learners＇ writing strategies stated in their reports, with which they have designed the surveying tool by using factor analysis. And then, the authors use descriptive and 1-way ANOVA （Analysis of Variance） analysis of SPSS16.0 （Statistical Program for Social Science） to examine the differences of strategies used by EFL （English as a Foreign Language） learners in China, overseas Chinese ESL learners in Northern Americas and Northern American ENL （English as a Native Language） learners. It is concluded by he results of the study that ENL and ESL learners are good at using various writing strategies. And there are significant differences in using writing strategies between ENL/ESL learners and EFL learners. The authors also conclude that the differences between ESL group and ENL group are not significant, much less than the ones between ESL group and EFL group. The authors make comparative analysis on the causes to the findings on the aspects of class teaching approaches and language learning surroundings, which bring out implications for teaching of English writing in China.

Translation and Evaluation of Chinese Version of the Inventory of School Motivation

This paper describes the development of a Chinese version of the ISM （Inventory of School Motivation）. Forward and backward translation strategies are used. Further, rigorous evaluation procedures are conducted to compare the form and meaning of the original English version and the back-translated version. The translation procedures ensure that the Chinese version is as equivalent as possible to the English version. Grammatical and syntactical issues with translation will be discussed in the paper.

Research and findings related to language anxiety

Language anxiety plays an important role in language learning. It is closely related to learner variables, such as gender and beliefs. Negative correlations between language anxiety and achievement have been reported by various investigations. Speaking performance is a skill particularly affected by language anxiety. Cognitive behavioral therapy seems to have provided a promising solution to the problem of language anxiety, but the effect is not supported by some research. Further investigation related to the topic is still in need.

A case study： Errors and error analysis

Before cognitive approach came into being in the 1960s, errors in L2 learning were always regarded as signs of failure which needed immediate attention from the teacher. By analyzing a student＇s writing, this paper tries to elaborate on the roles that errors can play in L2 learning process.

From the perspective of textual analysis, this paper centers on the configuration of semantic coherence and its implications for translation. In the book Cohesion in English, we know that the semantic coherence can be achieved by cohesive device. Yet in this paper how to deal with the coherent discourse which didn＇t have cohesive device is emphasized.

On the issue of representation in Corpus Translation Studies

Corpus Translation Studies （CTS） is a new field in translation studies and the representation of corpus is quite an important issue that deserves attention. At present, the translation theoretical circle holds different views on translation corpora and internal structures. Indeed, the existing translation theories can hardly be applied to CTS. As such, CTS can only make further development after the problem of corpora representation is solved.

Italicized word in character utterance and its translation：A case study of Pride and prejudice

Italicized word in character utterance, which indicates that extra stress is put on the word, is meant to convey implied meanings and therefore should be given adequate attention in the translation of novels. Through a comparative case study of three Chinese versions of Pride and prejudice, the thesis points out that stress attached to words is often neglected in translation and that a literal rendition of stress runs the risk of changing, deleting the original meaning conveyed or adding meanings unwanted by the character and the novelist. The problem can be solved by employing lexical and syntactic means in translation.

Practical use of task design in oral English teaching： Focus on task types

The implication of Task-Based Language Teaching （TBLT） in oral English teaching continues to draw attention of language teachers and researchers. This paper will survey issues at the core of TBLT, with particular emphasis on the six task types in Jane Willis＇ theory. Following a brief introduction of TBLT, the six types of task will be reviewed and its practical use in oral English teaching will be explored. Finally, the paper will point out some problems in TBLT, mainly focus on task and its design.

An Approach to Metaphor in Theoretical Framework of Cognitive Linguistics

Cognitive linguistics is one of the modem linguistics schools, and two of its prominent theorists are Lakoff and Langacker. They believe that unlike what Chomsky and his advocates believe the basis of linguistics studies must be meaning and the cognitive faculty of human beings must be considered in this kind of study. One of the hypotheses of cognitive linguistics in Langacker＇s words is that semantics is conceptualization. Conceptualization is an expression which Langacker has used and it is derived from Saussure＇s view of language. One of the evidences that cognitive linguists put forward to proving the hypothesis is the conceptual theory of metaphor which this paper is about.
