Plasma concentration of Paeoniflorin in rats after intravenous injection of Paronia Pall Extract (PPE) and oral administration of PPE and three types of decoctions in Guanxin Ⅱ prescription, respectively, were determined by HPLC analyses. NONMEM (nonlinear mixed-effect modeling) method was used to analyze full set of pharmacokinetic data directly. A two-compartment model with first-order degradation in absorption compartment was employed for the data analysis. The mean of population parameters, CL1, V1, CL2, V2, Ka0, and Kal, were measured to be 0.509 L/h, 0.104 L, 0.113 L/h, 0.123 L, 0.135/h, and 0.0135/h, respectively. Inter-individual variabilities were estimated and dose formulation (DF) was identified as a significant covariate of Ka 1, Ka0, and V1. It is concluded that the pharmacokinetic behaviors of paeoniflorin in rats can alter with different dose formulations.展开更多

The aim at this study was to explore the habits of taking medications without recommendation fracture among older patients, to determine which medications are most often used without prescription, and if there is difference in this habits considering gender and age of respondents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by interviewing all patients 〉 65 years that have arrived from 01.10. to 15.12.2015 in one ambulance of the Health Center of Mostar using the adapted questionnaire made out for the research. 90 questionnaires were properly filled for analysis, 60.0% were women and 40.0% of them were men. There was 45.6% respondents between 65 and 75 years, and 54.4% 76 years and above. Resaults: 15.6% of respondents said that they don't take their therapy regularly. Women compared to men, significantly more often use non-prescription drugs (P = 0.007). Analgesics and sedatives are more often used as non-prescription drugs, compare to supplements (P = 0.002). Conclusion: This study, although conducted on a small sample should be an alarm for general practitioners. They should think more about adverse effects of drugs on the aged, and use Beers criteria in every day practice. In addition, pharmacists should respect the legislation and not sell drugs without doctor's prescription to which it applies.展开更多

The irrational medical orders of PIVAS at the outpatient and emergency departments were retrospectively analyzed in Jun. 2015. We strengthened the pharmacy intervention on irrational medical orders since July 2015. All the cases were selected by systematic sampling method. Cased studied in Jun. 2015 served as the control group, whereas those studied in Jan. 2016 served as the intervention group. The irrational rate and the irrational number of daily average were compared between the control group and intervention group. The common type of irrational outpatient and emergency intravenous orders mainly included irrational use of solvents, irrational dosing interval and inappropriate compatibility of drugs. The irrational rate was reduced from 17.4% to 3.3% (P〈0.01), and the irrational number of daily average was decreased from 5.23 to 1.00 (P〈0.01). Pharmacy intervention can reduce the irrational rate of medical orders in our hospital, which is of great significance to promote rational drug use and improve medical quality.展开更多
