[Method] The test incIuded 4 treatments, as foI-Iows: treatment 1 (T1) where seedIings were cuItivated as per water fiIm-based cuI-tivation and irrigation proceeded reguIarIy; treatment 2 (T2) where irrigation proceed-ed continuousIy as per water fiIm-based cuItivation; treatment 3 (T3) where seedIings were cuItivated as per fIoating nursing; controI treatment (CK) where seedIings were cuItivated as per seedIing-tray cuItivation in order to survey the number of germinated seedIings per tray. [Result] Both of water fiIm-based cuItiva-tion and fIoating nursing took advantages in germination speed and aduIt seedIing rate, compared with tray cuItivation method. [Conclusion] Water fiIm-based cuItivation and fIoating nursing make innovations in water management during seedIing cuItiva-tion, which improve germination speed, aduIt seedIing rate and seedIing quality, making contribution to Iarge-scale production of greenhouse vegetabIes through ap-pIications and practices.展开更多

He witnessed the intense material progress of the young American nation, but also the misery and the intense class and racial struggle that shook it. The observation derives from his comprehension of the US of America as a nation made through the conquest of a vital territory, of successive frontiers. The second concerns the extraordinary perception of America as a multicultural nation, made up from an intense migratory movement from all over the world.展开更多

The goal is to investigate the phenomenon of fado songs in the context of cultural transformations that take place in the uniting Europe. During the investigation, we tried to verify the problem of national and cultural identity of the Portuguese and their attitude towards ethno-cultural auto-identification in fado. According to the research results, the Portuguese are profoundly conscious of the relation between fado and their national and cultural identity. The results show that the Portuguese also consider the songs so strongly tied to their own nation, history, and places in Portugal, that this makes impossible for the foreigners to understand the message (even though some listeners claim, that they "feel" fado, though not being able to understand the lyrics). The research results proved that the Portuguese consider fado as a carrier of their identity, or even "Portuguese soul".展开更多

The diverse and rich information about growing vines and producing wine in Georgia can be found in historical and modem scientific literatures as well. Javakhishvili reviewed 413 vine species from the ancient period in his work: "Economic History of Georgia". Nowadays there are more than 420 species in Georgia or 2.5% of the whole world assortment, from which 27 are for wine, 14 edible and 41 standard species. According to the ecological and economic conditions, Georgia is divided into 11 main regions from the viewpoint of specialization and concentration of vine growing, of which Kakheti, Kartli, Imereti, Racha and Lechkhumi are the most important regions. All these regions are both producers and users of grapes and wine. The climate of Kakheti is favorable to develop the vine industry here. They are: Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Mtsvane, Kabeme and Khikhvi. Kakheti gives more than half of branded wines of the republic. Fifty-four percent of vineyards of the country are placed, and 65%-68% of total wines in Georgia are produced in Kakheti.展开更多

Investing in urban regeneration, local governments have tried to convert cities' demographic changes (strengthening of the most educated and professionally qualified groups) in effective cultural demands that consolidate the three axes of development competitiveness-innovation-creativity. What the empirical study to the programming and communication proposals of those equipment shows is that it is not enough to provide cities with facilities; to escape to a utilitarian conception of culture, there is a whole work to be done so that such equipment be experienced and felt as new public sphere. Equipment in which proposals go through a fluid bind, constructed through space and discourse with local community, devoted a diversified and innovative bet full filling development axis. This paper presents in a systematic way what contributes to this binding on the analyzed equipment.展开更多

It is divided into three parts. In Part 1 I like to give a synoptic view of contemporary environmentalism, as reflected in Arne Naess's Deep Ecology. In Part 2 I make an exposition of the Bhumisukta, particularly those verses (mantras) which are directly relevant to our environmental concerns. To say the truth, this Bhumisukta (also called the Pcthivisitkta) epitomizes the Vedic Hindu eco-culture. The Bhumisukta (which literally means, the Hymn or Prayer to the Earth) is the oldest and the most evocative environmental discourse. It is called "the first natural anthem" in the history of mankind. It constitutes the first anuvgtka of dvgtda~ kgm. da of the Atharvaveda and contains 63 verses (mantras) devoted to glorifying the Earth as sacred and inviolable. Many prayers have been sung for the preservation and conservation of Nature and its gifts of splendor. The Bh^misftkta talks about human dependence on the Nature and respect for the same that follows naturally. It proclaims of the Earth as the mother, and humanity as her children Bhumisukta, putro'ham pr. thivyah" In Part 3 1 like to make a brief but critical observation regarding the loss of continuity of Vedic tradition in view of an objection made by some Western environmentalists. In this concluding part I like to respond to the objection that so called eco-sensitive cultures could not avert environmental pollution and depletion of Nature in countries, like India.展开更多

Using the example of Macanese food in Macao Special Administrative Region, this article discusses the transformation of Macanese food from everyday home food to the current status of cuisine in present-day Macanese society through the analysis of the perception of consumers and producers of Macanese food. The findings demonstrate the friction between Macanese food crafted by Macanese as part of an emergent "authentic" marker of Macanese identity and the commercial branding of Macanese food for tourist purposes.展开更多

These recreations symbolize not only a privileged visual interpretation of a nation, but they also allow us to examine how a given society reflects itself through the fiction. In this sense, the objective of this paper is to reflect upon the Portuguese updated filmic adaptation of The Crime of Father Amaro (1880) by the canonical author Eta de Queiroz. On one hand, the author intends to rethink about the Portuguese identity portrayed by the film and, at the same time, the author manages to observe how the Portuguese society is revealed. On the other hand, the paper aims to analyze the particular process of the adaptation of The Crime of Father Amaro following a qualitative methodology展开更多
