A new measuring apparatus were made to obtain temperature and relative humidity simultaneously for the purpose of investigating the mechanism of condensation occurred on the fabrics. The experiment conducted at the standard condition of temperature of 20℃ and relative humidity of 65%. The result obtained from experiment showed that condensation could occur under the situation closed to saturation line as the temperature on fabric may be lower than dew point of water vapor in the measuring box depending on the experiment conducted at an ambient environment temperature of 20℃ The range of fabrics studied showed that PTFE laminated fabrics except nylon gingham PTFE laminated fabric facilitates the loss of water vapor and therefore prevent condensation. It is necessary to develop studies from a wide range of fabrics, especially breathable fabrics and under bad experiment condition in order to develop fabrics, which could eliminate condensation, or transport water vapor through the fabric while remaining waterproof.展开更多

In order to regain equilibrium, part of the liquid evaporates quickly in a phenomenon called "flash evaporation", and the excess sensible heat contained in the liquid is converted into latent heat of vaporization. Therefore, temperatures of both the liquid and the generated vapor decline to the saturation temperature for the reduced pressure. As the heat and mass transfer occur in direct contact between the liquid and its own vapors, the process involves a very high heat transfer rate which makes it suitable for exchanging heat between sources of relatively small temperature difference. Moreover, dispensability of the heat exchange surfaces in this process is a considerable advantage as these surfaces constitute major part of the total system expenses in addition to the associated maintenance problems, especially when dealing with corrosive fluids such like seawater in the thermal desalination processes and in the OTEC (ocean thermal energy conversion) systems. This paper reports on the heat flux variation profiles during the flash evaporation of superheated water jets at various flow conditions. Heat flax was found to grow with time attaining a peak value before it starts to decrease monotonically.展开更多

Condensation experiments were performed at mass fluxes of 103-490 kg m-2s-1. The saturation temperatures of experimental condition were 31℃, 38℃and 48℃, alternatively. The average vapor quality in the test section is between 0.91 and 0.98. The effects of tube length, mass flux and condensation temperature on condensation were discussed. Four correlations used for the upward flow condensation were compared with the experimental data obtained from various experimental conditions. A modified correlation was proposed within a ±15% deviation range.展开更多
