In the center of the cloud was an ign...An experimental system was setup to study the pressure field of unconfined vapor cloud explosions. The semi-spherical vapor clouds were formed by slotted 0.02mm polyethylene film. In the center of the cloud was an ignition electrode that met ISO6164 'Explosion Protection System' and NFPA68 'Guide for Venting of Deflagrations'. A data-acquisition system, with dynamic responding time less than 0.001s with 0.5% accuracy, recorded the pressure-time diagram of acetylene-air mixture explosion with stoichiometrical ratio. The initial cloud diameters varied from 60 cm to 300 cm. Based on the analysis of experimental data, the quantitative relationship is obtained for the cloud explosion pressure, the cloud radius and the distance from ignition point. Present results provide a useful way to evaluate the building damage caused by unconfined vapor cloud explosions and to determine the indispensable explosion grade in the application of multi-energy model.展开更多

Nifedipine, a hydrophobic drug, was chosen as a model molecule in the studyof drug entrapment and release. Effect of preparation conditions on the size, morphology, drug loading, and releaseprofiles of micropheres was investigated. Based on in vitro release experimental findings, a diffusion/dissolutionmodel was presented for quantitative description of the resulting release behaviors and drug release kinetics fromPLA microspheres analyzed. The mathematical models were used to predict the effect of microstructure on theresulting drug release. Objective:To observe the clinical effect of pestle needle combined with Chinese herbal fumigation on cervical spondylosis and provide a safe effective therapy for this condition.Methods:A total of 54 cases were rand...Objective:To observe the clinical effect of pestle needle combined with Chinese herbal fumigation on cervical spondylosis and provide a safe effective therapy for this condition.Methods:A total of 54 cases were randomly allocated into two groups(27 cases in each group) according to their sequence of consultation.Patients in both groups were treated with the same Chinese herbal fumigation.Patients in the treatment group were additionally treated with pestle needle therapy on a unique set of Ba Zhen points around Dazhui(GV 14),Fengfu(GV 16) and the distance between Naohu(GV 17) and Dazhui(GV 14) along the He Che pathway,whereas patients in the control group were additionally treated with routine acupuncture therapy.Then the short-term and long-term efficacies were observed and compared after treatment using the visual analog scale(VAS) and pain rating index(PRI).Results:At the end of treatment,VAS scores were significantly decreased in both groups,and the VAS score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P〈0.05).The intra-group differences were statistically significant in VAS scores 1 month,3 and 6 months after treatment(all P〈0.05).At the end of treatment,the sensory and total PRI scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group,showing statistically significant differences(both P〈0.01);and there was no significant between-group difference(P〈0.05) in the affective PRI score.At the end of treatment,the total effective rate was 85.2% in the treatment group,versus 65.4% in the control group,showing a statistical significance(P〈0.05).The follow-up six months later showed that the total effective rate was 92.6% in the treatment group,versus 76.9% in the control group,showing a statistical significance(P〈0.05).Conclusion:Pestle needle therapy is a stable and positive therapy for cervical spondylosis.展开更多

Methods: A total of 93 cases were randomly allocated into an observation group(n=47) and a control group(n=46) according to the table of random number. Cases in the observation group received tuina combining with Chinese herbal fumigation, whereas cases in the control group received oral blood-circulating and pain-alleviating capsules combining with Chinese herbal fumigation. Both tuina and Chinese herbal fumigation were done once every other day and 10 times made up a course of treatment. The Baird-Jackson ankle scoring system and clinical efficacy were observed after 1 course of treatment.Results: After treatment, except for radiographic findings, there were significant intra-group differences in individual item scores of Baird-Jackson(P〈0.05, P〈0.01); except for ankle joint range of motion(ROM), there were significant betweengroup differences in individual item scores and total score(P〈0.01). The excellence and good rate was 76.6% in the observation group, versus 54.4% in the control group, showing a statistical significance(P〈0.05). Conclusion: Combining Chinese herbal fumigation and tuina based on the muscle region theory can obtain better effect than combining oral blood-circulating and pain-alleviating capsules and Chinese herbal fumigation for chronic ankle sprain.展开更多
