Formation and evolution of the modern warm current system in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea since the last deglaciation 被引量:14

To reconstruct the formation and evolution process of the warm current system within the East China Sea (ECS) and the Yellow Sea (YS) since the last deglaciation, the paleoceangraphic records in core DGKS9603, core CSH1 and core YSDP102, which were retrieved from the mainstream of the Kuroshio Current (KC), the edge of the modern Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) and muddy region under cold waters accreted with the Yellow Sea Warm Current (YSWC) respectively, were synthetically analyzed. The results indicate that the formation and evolution of the modern warm current system in the ECS and the YS has been accompanied by the development of the KC and impulse rising of the sea level since the last deglaciation. The influence of the KC on the Okinawa Trough had enhanced since 16 cal kyr BP, and synchronously the modern TWC began to develop with the rising of sea level and finally formed at about 8.5 cal kyr BP. The KC had experienced two weakening process during the Heinrich event 1 and the Younger Drays event from 16 to 8.5 cal kyr BP. The period of 7-6 cal kyr BP was the strongest stage of the KC and the TWC since the last deglaciation. The YSWC has appeared at about 6.4 cal kyr BE Thus the warm current system of the ECS and the YS has ultimately formed. The weakness of the KC, indicated by the occurrence of Pulleniatina minimum event (PME) during the period from 5.3 to 2.8 cal kyr BE caused the main stream of the TWC to shift eastward to the Pacific Ocean around about 3 cal kyr BE The process resulted in the intruding of continent shelf cold water mass with rich nutrients. Synchronously, the strength of the YSWC was relatively weak and the related cold water body was active at the early-mid stage of its appearance against the PME background, which resulted in the quick formation of muddy deposit system in the southeastern YS. The strength of the warm current system in the ECS and the YS has enhanced evidently, and approached to the modern condition gradually since 3 cal kyr BE 展开更多

Over the past 100 years, worldwide surface temperatures have increased at an unprecedented rate, contributing to warming of the oceans, melting ice fields and glaciers, and other adverse climatic effects. Southeast Florida's vulnerability derives from its geographic location, low elevation, porous geology, unusual ground and surface water hydrology, subtropical weather patterns, and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The region is especially susceptible to sea level rise. After several millennia of stable sea levels prior to the 20th century, sea levels have been rising at accelerating rates due to thermal expansion of the oceans and from land-based ice melt The Everglades ecosystem and the water supplies for southeast Florida are particularly vulnerable as neither can be protected without significant expenditures of public dollars, and even these efforts may not prove to be successful. New approaches may be required to improve the resilience and prolong the sustainability of the region's water resources and ecosystem. The efforts to adapt to sea level changes in both the urban area and ecosystem as outlined herein are date and incident based-climate changes may occur earlier or later so instead of spending limited public dollars early, expenditures can be adjusted given future information. 展开更多

In order to fully utilize all information, it is necessary to fuse two kinds of image and data. And the image co-registration is an important and complicated job before fusion. This paper suggests combining bathymetric data with intensity image, obtaining the characteristic points through the minimal angles of lines, and then deciding the corresponding image points by the maximal correlate coefficient in searching space. Finally, the second order polynomial is applied to the deformation model. After the images have been co-registered, Wavelet is used to fuse the images. It is shown that this algorithm can be used in the flat seafloor or the isotropic seabed. Verification is made in the paper with the observed data. 展开更多

The paper is to introduce a computational methodology that is based on ordinary differential equations (ODE) solver for the structural systems adopted by a super tall building in its preliminary design stage so as to facilitate the designers to adjust the dynamic properties of the adopted structural system. The construction of the study is composed by following aspects. The first aspect is the modelling of a structural system. As a typical example, a mega frame-core-tube structural system adopted by some famous super tall buildings such as Taipei 101 building, Shanghai World financial center, is employed to demonstrate the modelling of a computational model. The second aspect is the establishment of motion equations constituted by a group of ordinary differential equations for the analyses of free vibration and resonant response. The solutions of the motion equations (that constitutes the third aspect) resorted to ODE-solver technique. Finally, some valuable conclusions are summarized. 展开更多

Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) is thought to be caused by prions initially derived from sheep scrapie, and epidemiological studies suggest that new viriant form of CJD manifest in Great Britain may be caused by BSE prions. PrP^Sc is thought to pathogenic factor of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE), which invariably involve a post-translational modification process of PrPc encoded by the host euchromosome PrP gene during the period it converted into the pathogenic form (PrP^Sc), PrP is nomal cellular protein which has been found in both neuronal and nonneuronal tissues. Since the crucial infectious event in protein-transmitted diseases is an induced misfolding of prion proteins (PrP^c) catalyzed by already misfolded PrP^Sc, it is of high importance that such collisions are enhanced by two-dimensional diffusion in cell membranes is of high importance compared to three-dimensional diffusion in solution. The level of PrP mRNA in brain is higher than other tissue, but purification of PrPc from rodent has been difficult. To understand the formation of PrP^Sc, it seemed useful to develop a system for produced a large quantities of PrPc since there is no nature source of PrP^c. The pCI-neo mammalian expression vector contains the neomycin phosphtransferase gene which serves as a marker for the selection of stable transfected cells with G418. COS-7 cells constitutively express simian viruse 40 (SV40) T-antigen and support replication of expression plasmids containing the SV40 origin of replication, amplifying the introduced expression cassettes, now become important routine of expression a large number of heterologous gene products. In this paper, the authors used pCI-neo vector to construct a recombnant pCIp264 (cotains mPrP, N-signalpeptide and C-GPI anchor) plasmid to express it in the COS-7 cells and meanwhile detect the expression fusion using IN-ELISA, IN-IFA and western blot, and obtain some approximative nature PrPc. 展开更多

The work aims to develop a process for freezing desalination of seawater on cold walls. The experiments were performed with water/NaCl solutions of different concentrations and with samples of seawater. The pilot crystallizer consists of a cooled tube immersed in a cylindrical double jacketed tank containing water to be treated. The complete process of desalination is conducted in two steps: the freezing step, leading to the crystallization of the ice layer and the sweating step, which consists of purifying the ice layer in depth by melting the impure zones. The systematic study of the influence of operating parameters has highlighted the important role of the cooling ramp and salinity of the solution on the purity of the ice produced. In the absence of stirring, the temperature of the double jacket also has a noticeable effect on the purity of the ice due to temperature gradients, and consequently, convection currents that may result in the solution. The results of this work show the feasibility of the technique and give a good indication of operating conditions that can be used to produce drinking water. 展开更多

Petrogeochemical data indicate that after the end of seafloor spreading,residual magmatic activity still exists in the deep basin of the South China Sea.By using different viscous structure models beneath the fossil spreading center of the Southwest sub-basin we simulated the amount of melt produced,the length of the melting period,and the thermal evolution process in terms of geothermics and the buoyant decompression melting mechanism.We compared the results of our model with observed heat flow,seismic,and petrogeochemistry data.The results show that depletion buoyancy induced by buoyant decompression melting plays an important role in the melting process,while retention buoyancy,thermal buoyancy,and viscous shear force have only a weak influence on the melting process.From the length of the melting period,we determined that for the three viscous structures models the magmatic activity lasted about 5,12,and 15 Ma.Under the effect of buoyant depression melting,local high-temperature areas will develop under the basin,which can explain the low-velocity layer detected by seismic exploration in the middle and upper lithosphere of the Southwest sub-basin.We also simulated the possible lithology distribution beneath the fossil spreading center with the physical conditions of different viscous structure,different temperature structure,and different melting fraction,which provided a greater understanding of the rock petrogeochemical data of the deep sea basin in the South China Sea. 展开更多
