Methods Sixty cases of young patients of hypertension were randomly divided into an electroacupuncture group and a western medicine group, 30 cases in each group. In the electroacupuncture group, electroacupuncture was applied at Quchi (曲池LI 11) and Taichong (太冲LR 3). In the western medicine group, Captopril was taken orally. Twenty-four hour dynamic blood pressure, and blood pressure variability and circadian rhythms were observed after treatment for 14 days in the two groups. Results Electroacupuncture at Quchi (曲池LI 11) and Taichong (太冲LR 3) significantly decreased systolic pressure and diastolic pressure at different time phases in the young patients with hypertension (all P〈0.01), with no significant difference as compared with the western medicine group (all P〉0.05); electroacupuncture at Quchi (曲池LI 11) and Taichong (太冲LR 3) significantly reduced the standard deviations of systolic pressure and diastolic pressure at different time phases in the young patients with hypertension as compared with those before the treatment (P〈0.01, P〈0.05). There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in 24 h systolic standard deviation (24 h SSD), 24 h diastolic standard deviation (24 h DSD), daytime SSD (dSSD), nighttime SSD (nSSD) and nighttime DSD (nDSD) (P〈0.01, P〈0.05); and there was significant difference between the two groups in numbers of the Dipper and the non-Dipper after treatment (P〈0.05). Conclusion Electroacupuncture at Quchi (曲池LI 11) and Taichong (太冲LR 3) has a better long-term effect of decreasing blood pressure and improves effectively changes of circadian rhythms in young patients with hypertension, which are an effective point pair for hypertension.展开更多

Acupuncture was performed manually for 20-min daily over 28 d in the Renying(ST 9) group. Rat Gene 2.0 array technology was used for the determination of gene expression profiles and the screened key genes were verified by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) analyses.RESULTS: The different groups exhibited differential gene expression: compared with the blank control group, 48 genes were up-regulated and 91 genes were down-regulated in the model group;compared with the model group, 79 genes were up-regulated and 80 genes were down-regulated in Renying(ST 9) group. The RT-PCR results of the key genes including Chi3 l1, Ephx2, Klk1, 5-HT1 A and Cbs were consistent with that of gene chip analysis.CONCLUTION: Acupuncture at Renying(ST 9)could significantly lower the blood pressure of SH rats and affect their hypothalamic gene expression profile. Genes associated with the contraction of vascular smooth muscle and the regulation of inflammation, neurotransmitters may be involved in acupuncture's antihypertensive mechanism.展开更多

Methods: Male SD rats anesthetized with chloral hydrate were randomly divided into 3 groups which were treated with manual acupuncture (MA), injection of lidocaine followed by MA and injection of normal saline (NS) followed by MA, respectively. The right carotid artery was canulated for persistent measurement of the blood pressure and meanwhile nerve discharges from the nerve-tract were recorded for analysis with amplitude spike counts for every 5 s. Results: The results showed that there were significant nerve discharges recorded from the nerve-tract when applying MA at Zusanli (ST 36) and simultaneous decrease in the MAP, while there was no response when inserting a needle into the Zusanli (ST 36) without manipulation (P〈0.05). Furthermore, the reduction of MAP during MA could be completely abolished after blockade of peripheral nerve discharges with an injection of lidocaine into the tissue around Zusanli (ST 36) but not with that of normal saline (NS). Conclusion: These results indicate that MA at Zusanli (ST 36) can elicit the peripheral nerve discharges from the nerve innervating the acupoint; such kind of nerve discharges may contain acupuncture signal regulating blood pressure via somato-cardiovascular reflex.展开更多

Methods: Animal model of SIHR was made by electric foot shocks combined with noises. Electroacupuncture (EA) was used and “Zusanli” acupoint of both side was selected. The technique of drug microinjection into the brain was used to observe the change of blood pressure (BP), and synchronously, brain microdialysis was performed for collecting dialysate samples, and then the concentration of amino acid neurotransmitters in the dialysate samples was determined by high performance liquid chromatography combined with fluorescent detection (HPLC-FD). Results: After the animal received stress treatment, the BP elevated, synchronously, the release of glutamate (Glu) in the rVLM increased, and when EA was performed, the elevated BP of the rats with SIH decreased, simultaneously, the release of Glu in the rVLM decreased also. After Mel was microinjected of into the AHA of the SIHR, the elevated BP attenuated, meanwhile, the release of Glu decreased, and those of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and taurine (Tau) increased in the rVLM.Administration of bicuculline, an antagonist of GABAA receptor, into the rVLMprior to microinjection of Mel imo the AHA could partially block the depressor effect of Mel in the AHA. Conclusion: The decrease in the release of Glu in the rVLM contributes to the antihypertensive effect of both acupuncture and Mel in the AHA in the rats with SIH, and the increase in the release of GABA and Tau in the rVLM is also im0ortam to Mel in the AHA.展开更多

Methods: Ang-(1-7) and its selective receptor antagonist (DAla7), Ang(1-7) and Ang(779) were microinjected into the CVLM respectively to induce the change of blood pressure, during which, the concentrations of amino acid neurotransmitters were detected by means of microdialysis and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)combined with fluorescent detector, on the other hand, the effects of electro-acupuncture (EA) on the level of blood pressure and the concentrations of amino acid neurotransmitters were also observed. Results: Unilateral microinjection of Ang(1 7) into the CVLM could decrease the blood pressure (BP), which was accompanied by an increase in the release of Glu and a decrease in the release of Tau in the same site; Whereas microinjection of Ang-779 into the CVLM could elevate BP, which was accompanied by a decrease in the release of Glu and an increase in the release of Tau; EA at acupoint Zusanli (ST 36) for 20 min could inhibit the fall of blood pressure induced by microinjection of Ang-(1-7) into the CVLM and the elevation of blood pressure induced by microinjection of Ang-779 into the CVLM, and in the meantime, it could inhibit the changes of the release of Glu and Tau induced by microinjection of Ang-(1-7) and Ang-779 into the CVLM. Conclusion: The reversal effect of EA on the fall or elevation of blood pressure induced by microinjection of Ang-(1-7) or Ang-779 into the CVLM might be related to the changes of Glu and Tau release.展开更多
