This hierarchical model summarizes the action contents with different spatio-t...To improve the recognition performance of video human actions,an approach that models the video actions in a hierarchical way is proposed. This hierarchical model summarizes the action contents with different spatio-temporal domains according to the properties of human body movement.First,the temporal gradient combined with the constraint of coherent motion pattern is utilized to extract stable and dense motion features that are viewed as point features,then the mean-shift clustering algorithm with the adaptive scale kernel is used to label these features.After pooling the features with the same label to generate part-based representation,the visual word responses within one large scale volume are collected as video object representation.On the benchmark KTH(Kungliga Tekniska H?gskolan)and UCF (University of Central Florida)-sports action datasets,the experimental results show that the proposed method enhances the representative and discriminative power of action features, and improves recognition rates.Compared with other related literature,the proposed method obtains superior performance.展开更多

The present study aims to find the effect of cultural orientatiotr---like individualism or collectivism on a person's organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) There are many studies related to collectivism and organization citizenship behavior as well as organization commitment and OCB. But most of these studies were done in a western context and is done years back. The present generation of UAE having undergone studies in management which is highly dominated by western philosophies and due to their interaction with diverse nationalities have evolved in their behavior. At this point it is necessary to investigate whether there is any shift in their behavior pattems based on collectivism. Career commitment has grown among UAE nationals in recent years due to high level of commitment from the government towards education and employment. Since OCB is more of an altruistic tendency within an individual, the study looks into the cultural difference within an individual like individualism or collectivism and its relationship with a person's OCB level among the employees in UAE. Career commitment is taken as a another variable. The study has made some interesting findings which show a shift from the previous studies that show a direct relationship using correlation analysis, between collectivism and organization citizenship behavior. The study found that there is no relationship between individualism or collectivism and organization citizenship behavior, but there is some relationship between career commitment and organization citizenship behavior factor loyal boosterism.展开更多

UML is a widely used modeling standard, yet it is very difficult to apply it to system verification and testing directly for its imprecise semantics. After analyzing the expression ability of the two models, several transforma- tion rules are defined and each step of transformation is described in detail, after that, the approach is illustrated with an example. The partic...This research was aimed to evaluate the training program enhancing caring behaviors of new nurses by Kirkpatrick's four level for evaluation model: reaction, learning, behavior, and result of the program. The participants were new nurses, preceptors of new nurses, administrators, patients and members of the patients' family cared by new nurses. The research instruments were: (1) five questionnaires toward program suitability, knowledge, attitude, caring expression, and result to organization. The mean, standard deviation and dependent sample t-test were used for data analysis; (2) guidelines for focus group discussion and semi-structural questionnaire analyzed by content analysis. The study revealed that: (1) the mean of suitability was at the very high level (X = 4.49, SD. = .30); (2) the knowledge and attitude after training were significantly higher than before training at .000 level, [t =-21.65, p = .000 and t = -19.30, p = .000); {3} caring behavior after training was significantly higher than before training at the .000 level; and {4} the result of the program was at the high level { X = 4.25, SD. = .17}, related to the result of semi-structured interview and focus group discussion. These evaluation research finding suggested that administrators can use for improving the preparation of any project and apply to evaluate other training programs, developing human resource system.展开更多

To avoid this, it is important to predict the natural...The end windings of generators are excited to vibrations due to electromagnetic forces which can cause severe damage (especially in case of resonance) and noise. To avoid this, it is important to predict the natural frequencies and modes of the end windings with finite elements during the design process. Hence, a material model of the complete stator bar is necessary. This paper shows the development of such a material model. The composite structure of a stator bar is quite complex and makes it impossible to provide a quick calculation of the eigenvalues. That is the reason for using a suitable, homogeneously, geometry based solid model. Special attention was paid to the experimental determination of the material characteristics of the orthotropic composite space brackets. The numerical results have been evaluated against measurements. Eigenvalues, Young's modulus, and shear modulus have been experimentally investigated.展开更多
