Before processing, each job must be loaded on a machine, which takes a certain release times and a certain setup times. All these setups have to be done by a single server, which can handle at most one job at a time. In this paper, we continue studying the complexity result for parallel machine problem with a single and release times. New complexity results are derived for special cases.展开更多

In the technique, the map tasks which will cause the delay are predicted first and then the input data of these tasks will be preloaded before the tasks are scheduled. During the execution, the input data can be read from local nodes. Therefore, the delay can be hidden. The technique has been implemented in Hadoop-0. 20.1. The experiment results have shown that the technique reduces map tasks causing delay, and improves the performance of Hadoop MapRe- duce by 20%.展开更多

The contribution of white noise to the oscillatory behaviour of the new stochastic delay differential pantograph equation (SDDPE) is investigated. It is established that under certain conditions and with a highly positive probability, the new stochastic delay differential pantograph equation has an oscillatory solution influenced by the presence of the noise. This is not possible with the original deterministic system which has a non-oscillatory solution due to the absence of noise.展开更多

The relation was used to treat the creep experimental data for polystyrene (PS) specimens at a given aged time and different stress levels. Comparing with “middle-point” method reported in the literatures, β is found out by another method “polynomial fitting” in this work. Then unified master lines were constructed with the treated data and curves according to the universal equation. The master lines can be used to predict the long-term creep behaviour and lifetime by extrapolating to a required ultimate strain.展开更多

The computational results show that there are signiticant differences between epileptic: EEG and normal EEG in the approximate entropy with the variance of embedding dimension. This conclusion is helpful to analyze the dynamical behavior of difibrent EEGs by entropy.展开更多

Multiple forward scattering and diffraction for the random inhomogeneities along the seismic ray path are the main causes of S-wave envelope broadening,so the phenomenon of S-wave envelope broadening is used to study the inhomogeneity of the medium. The peak delay time of an S-wave,which is defined as the time lag from the direct S-wave onset to the maximum amplitude arrival of its envelope,is accepted to quantify S-wave envelope broadening. 204 small earthquake records in Changbaishan Tianchi volcano were analyzed by the S-wave envelope broadening algorithm. The results show that S-wave envelope broadening in the Changbaishan Tianchi volcano is obvious, and that the peak delay time of S-wave has a positive correlation with the hypocenter distance and frequency of the S-wave. The relationships between the S-wave peak delay time and the hypocenter distance for different frequency bands were obtained using the statistics method. The results are beneficial to the understanding of the S-wave envelope broadening phenomena and the quantitative research on the inhomogeneities of the crust medium in the Changbaishan Tianchi volcano region.展开更多

This fungus is found in warm and moist climates, characteristically found in the amazonic lands of the region, where its environmental isolation was once described. This research aimed to identify the healthy population exposed to agent F. pedrosoi in four villages located in the Legal Amazon. In order to clarify the risk factors for allergic immune exposure, a survey was conducted by the technique of delayed skin reaction (IDR) with the metabolic antigen (chromomycin) in 449 healthy individuals. The results showed that 14.9% (67 subjects) were IDR positive, with induration 〉 5 mm. Multivariate analysis with logistic regression for risk factors: living in the village of Z6 Pedro (municipality of Bacabeira in the state of Maranhao, Brazil),展开更多

Temporal judgment alone can neither account for neural signaling necessary for emergence of conscious act nor explain RP (Readiness Potential, the accepted neural correlate time needed for the neurons to fire) that precedes the onset of action or the latency time of 0.5 ms that precedes the conscious act found by Libet. Neuronal feedback mechanisms between the heart and the brain seem feasible and logical suggestions to be considered, so clearly, I would suggest that the onset of a conscious-directed goal, conscious action, freewill, intension, and the neural signals and mechanisms that control them may depend upon the interaction between two sources: (1) the brain and (2) the heart. The temporal-cardiac (neural system) interaction has been well established in heart-brain interaction studies by many workers who found that the work of the heart precedes that of the brain in EEG (electroencephalography) findings in conscious stimulation, which may explain and account for RP time and the 0.5 ms latency period of Libet's important findings. According to my hypothesis (AlFaki 2009) and views, the temporal neurons in the soma to-sensory cortex will respond to conscious stimulation only after receiving neuronal signals from the cardiac neurons in the neural plexus of the heart; after variable millisecond equivalent to RP or Libet's latency period prior to temporal neuronal firinging in response to conscious act, this time is the time needed by cardiac neurons to process and signal information to the brain through feedback mechanism and heart-brain interaction.展开更多

The interview and questionnaire method were used in this research. Randomly distributed questionnaire technique was applied to select samples of 74 various construction practitioners consisting of owners, consultants and main contractors to evaluat the severity of the 35 identified delay factors. The project investigated in this study included residential building and office building projects. The results found that delay in progress payment by owner, adverse weather conditions, main contractor financial problems, evaluation of completed works and act of god factor caused mostly severe delay in building construction project.展开更多
