Phys. 46 (2006) 559], the optical operator method studied by the IWOP technique (Ma et al., Commun. Theor. The EFO can unify those optical operators in two-mode case. Various decompositions of EFO into the exponential canonical operators are obtained. The entangled state representation is useful in the research.展开更多

In the present work, we make a comprehensive comparison, based on the newly developed XPK package, between the XPK method and the conventional KMC method using a model hydrogenation reaction system. Two potential energy surfaces with different lateral interactions have been designed to illustrate the advantages of the XPK method in computational costs, parallel efficiency and the convergence behaviors to steady states. The XPK method is shown to be efficient and accurate, holding the great promise for theoretical modelling in heterogeneous catalysis, in particular, when the role of the lateral interactions among adsorbates is crucial.展开更多

Poe's unique symbolic method as manifested in his tale The Masque of the Red Death. It offers a picture of the general state of critical treatment of the supposed opposition between allegory and symbol. I present a historical overview of how the distinction between the literary terms arose, tracing the roots of the issue to the end of the 18th century and showing its development over the next two centuries. The second section of the paper is devoted to the analysis of The Masque in the light of the theoretical background provided in the opening section. The Masque is interpreted in terms of Poe's modulation of"closed" and "open" symbolism by focusing on aspects of the story that relate to the use of numbers, colors, and time.展开更多

In this theory the definition of the horizon is very different from those in higher-dimensional gravity theories. By using the Hamilton-Jacobi method, the spectrum of the radiation is obtained and the temperature of the radiation is read out from this spectrum. The temperature is proportional to the surface gravity of the apparent horizon as usual. Besides, in stationary cases we calculate the spectrum by using Parikh and Wilczek's null geodesic method and the result conforms to that obtained by using the Harnilton-Jacobi method. This is expected since the flamilton-Jacobi method applies to generic spacetimes, including stationary ones.展开更多
