The motivation lies in the fact that the current empirical studies on optimal FDI sizes and multinational governance through international comparison, etc., focus on multinationals' initial stage after they enter China, which we call the phase-Ⅰ period. Nevertheless, as a whole, multinationals in China have passed their phase-Ⅰ growth and, through technological and managerial localization, are striding into a new expansionary period: phase-Ⅱ growth. In general, this is a stage where multinationals capture the lion's share of host markets and are a leading force in driving GDP forward. Compared with entry stage growth, the phase-Ⅱ period has exhibited its own unique characteristics.展开更多
