针对粗网络引入先验知识较少使得补全的内容存在明显视觉伪影问题,提出了基于边缘结构生成器的两段式图像修复方法。采用边缘结构生成器对输入的图像边缘和色彩平滑信息进行特征学习,生成缺失区域的结构内容,以引导精细网络重构高质量... 针对粗网络引入先验知识较少使得补全的内容存在明显视觉伪影问题,提出了基于边缘结构生成器的两段式图像修复方法。采用边缘结构生成器对输入的图像边缘和色彩平滑信息进行特征学习,生成缺失区域的结构内容,以引导精细网络重构高质量的语义图像。通过在公开的图像修复基准数据集Paris Street-View上进行实验测试,结果表明,所提模型可对掩膜占比达50%的图像进行补全。在客观的量化评价指标上,峰值信噪比、结构相似度系数、L_(1)和L_(2)均值误差等数值整体优于EC、GC、SF等方法,其中,掩膜占比为0%~20%时,峰值信噪比指数达到33.40 dB,优于其他方法2.37~6.57 dB,结构相似度系数提高了0.006~0.138。同时,补全的图像纹理更清晰,视觉质量更高。 展开更多

In the watermarking extraction procedure, users in different group can obtain different watermark by combining their shadows with the extracted one from the watermarked signal. Visual background extraction algorithm(ViBe)uses the first frame image to initialize the background model,which can easily introduce the“ghost”.Because ViBe uses the fixed segmentation threshold to achieve the foreground and background segmentation,the detection results in many false detections for the highly dynamic background.To solve these problems,an improved ghost suppression and adaptive Visual Background Extraction algorithm is proposed in this paper.Firstly,with the pixel’s temporal and spatial information,the historical pixels of a certain combination are used to initialize the background model in the odd frames of the video sequence.Secondly,the background sample set combined with the neighborhood pixels are used to determine a complex degree of the background,to acquire the adaptive segmentation threshold.Thirdly,the update rate is adjusted based on the complexity of the background.Finally,the detected result goes through a post-processing to achieve better detection results.The experimental results show that the improved algorithm will not only quickly suppress the“ghost”,but also have a better detection in a complex dynamic background. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE The current retrospective study aims to evaluate the management of non-functioning the assessment of experience on pituitary macroadenoma through clinical, biochemical, radiological features, and treatment outcome of patients, and to identify prognostic factors affecting progression-free survival (PFS). METHODS Data of 55 patients macroadenoma presented to the with non-functioning pituitary Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine department between 1998 and 2009 were investigated. RESULTS The most common symptom was visual disturbance (38.2%) followed by headache (27.3%). The presence of male predominance was observed (1.4:1). Ten patients received radio-therapy (RT) only. Extrasellar extension was the more common treatment. The overall response rate was 72.8% with completed response at 16.4%. Memory and intellectual sequelae were the most common late complications of treatment (14%). The ten-year PFS was at 84.6%. PFS was found to be significantly better with higher dose of RT (up to 54 Gy), treatment by both surgery and RT, absence of visual field defect, and tumor localized to sella, whereas it was not significantly affected by age and sex. CONCLUSION The data confirmed that the prevalence of mass effect and hypopituitarism in patients with non-functioning pituitary macroadenoma is elevated. Conventional external RT up to 54 Gy is safe and effective in controlling non-functioning pituitary macro- adenoma with tolerable and acceptable morbidity. 展开更多

In that extend, words are the genesis of cinema. Poetry is a unique way to express one's point of view in a metaphoric way, far from common means of communicating a message. This purpose is the one of many a film director with daring, controversial, or highly personal ideas. Process engineers would like to be similarly able to image chemical process units in 3-D, but without the Lmulti-million price tag. UMIST and Leeds University have together, through the Virtual Centre for Industrial Process Tomography (http://www.vcipt.org), pioneered several electrical process tomography techniques and used them in a variety of applications. Illustrations are presented to show how electrical resistance tomography (ERT) has been developed for typical stirred vessels widely encountered in batch process manufacturing. The technique is potentially fast and inexpensive and capable of imaging both dynamic and pseudo-stationary processes. Examples from UMIST's two-tonne vessel will be presented for miscible tracer mixing, as well as gas-liquid and solid-liquid mixing. 展开更多

The perception color space HSI in this algorithm is adopted.Three color components of a color image and more potential edge patterns are integrated for solving the feature extraction problem.A fast and automatic threshold technique based on human visual perception model is also developed.The vertical edge projection and horizontal edge projection are adopted for locating left-right boundary of vehicle and top-bottom boundary of vehicle, respectively. Very promising experimental results are obtained using real-time vehicle image sequences, which have confirmed that this proposed location vehicle method is efficient and reliable, and its calculation speed meets the needs of the VRS. 展开更多

Since 1978 Israeli Holocaust-related narrative films have associated the violence experienced during the Holocaust, including sexual violence, with the violence permeating Israeli society. In keeping with Marianne Hirsch's notion of "postmemory", this paper argues that cinema, as a visual form of artistic mediation, has an especially strong impact on the spectator, because it triggers affective, tactile, and bodily responses. Hence, the efficacy of generating an ethics of remembrance of sexually-related violence, based on cinematic aesthetics, which the author terms here "cinememory". The paper focuses on a sub-genre of Holocaust-related films: coming-of-age films, which explore in different ways the lasting implications of growing-up in the shadow of sexualized trauma; the unconscious transmission of memories and tactile experiences, related to the ubiquity of sexual violence during the Holocaust. 展开更多

We present an omnidirectional vision system we have implemented to provide our mobile robot with a fast tracking and robust localization capability. An algorithm is proposed to do reconstruction of the environment from the omnidirectional image and global localization of the robot in the context of the Middle Size League RoboCup field. This is accomplished by learning a set of visual landmarks such as the goals and the corner posts. Due to the dynamic changing environment and the partially observable landmarks, four localization cases are discussed in order to get robust localization performance. Localization is performed using a method that matches the observed landmarks, i.e. color blobs, which are extracted from the environment. The advantages of the cylindrical projection are discussed giving special consideration to the characteristics of the visual landmark and the meaning of the blob extraction. The analysis is established based on real time experiments with our omnidirectional vision system and the actual mobile robot. The comparative studies are presented and the feasibility of the method is shown. 展开更多

Street-level visualization is an important application of 3D city models.Challenges to street-level visualization include the cluttering of buildings due to fine detail and visualization performance.In this paper,a novel method is proposed for streetlevel visualization based on visual saliency evaluation.The basic idea of the method is to preserve these salient buildings in a scene while removing those that are non-salient.The method can be divided into pre-processing procedures and real-time visualization.The first step in pre-processing is to convert 3D building models at higher Levels of Detail(Lo Ds) into LoD 1 models with simplified ground plans.Then,a number of index viewpoints are created along the streets; these indices refer to both the position and the direction of each street site.A visual saliency value is computed for each building,with respect to the index site,based on a visual difference between the original model and the generalized model.We calculate and evaluate three methods for visual saliency:local difference,global difference and minimum projection area.The real-time visualization process begins by mapping the observer to its closest indices.The street view is then generated based on the building information stored in those indexes.A user study shows that the local visual saliency method performs better than do the global visual saliency,area and image-based methods and that the framework proposed in this paper may improve the performance of 3D visualization. 展开更多

Remote sensing based land cover mapping at large scale is time consuming when using either supervised or unsupervised clas- sification approaches. This article used a fast clustering method---Clustering by Eigen Space Transformation (CBEST) to pro- duce a land cover map for China. Firstly, 508 Landsat TM scenes were collected and processed. Then, TM images were clus- tered by combining CBEST and K-means in each pre-defined ecological zone (50 in total for China). Finally, the obtained clusters were visually interpreted as land cover types to complete a land cover map. Accuracy evaluation using 2159 test sam- pies indicates an overall accuracy of 71.7% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.64. Comparisons with two global land cover products (i.e., Finer Resolution Observation and Monitoring of Global Land Cover (FROM-GLC) and GlobCover 2009) also indicate that our land cover result using CBEST is superior in both land cover area estimation and visual effect for different land cover types. 展开更多

25 Years of sensory drive: the evidence and its watery bias 被引量:3

It has been 25years since the formalization of the Sensory Drive hypothesis was published in the American Naturalist (1992). Since then, there has been an explosion of research identifying its utility in contributing to our understanding of inter- and intra-specific variation in sensory systems and signaling properties. The main tenet of Sensory Drive is that environmental characteristics will influence the evolutionary trajectory of both sensory (detecting capabilities) and signaling (detectable features and behaviors) traits in predictable directions. We review the accumulating evidence in 154 studies addressing these questions and categorized their approach in terms of testing for environmental influence on sensory tuning, signal characteristics, or both. For the subset of studies that examined sensory tuning, there was greater support for Sensory Drive processes shaping visual than auditory tuning, and it was more prevalent in aquatic than terrestrial habitats. Terrestrial habitats and visual traits were the prevalent habitat and sensory modality in the 104 studies showing support for environmental influence on signaling properties. An additional 19 studies that found no supporting evidence for environmental influence on signaling traits were all based in terrestrial ecosystems and almost exclusively involved auditory signals. Only 29 studies examined the complete coevolutionary process between sensory and signaling traits and were dominated by fish visual communication. We discuss biophysical factors that may contribute to the visual and aquatic bias for Sensory Drive evidence, as well as biotic factors that may contribute to the lack of Sensory Drive processes in terrestrial acoustic signaling systems. 展开更多

In this work,we show a projective invariant named as characteristic number,from which we obtain an intrinsic property of an algebraic hypersurface involving the intersections of the hypersurface and some lines that constitute a closed loop. From this property,two high-dimensional generalizations of Pascal's theorem are given,one establishing the connection of hypersurfaces of distinct degrees,and the other concerned with the intersections of a hypersurface and a simplex. 展开更多
