In order to improve TFRC performance in wireless channels, the link level automatic repeat request (ARQ) scheme is usually deployed. However, ARQ cannot ensure strict delay guarantees, especially over multihop links. This paper introduces a theoretical model to deduce an equation for packet size adjustment in transport layer to minimize retransmission delay by taking into con- sideration the causative reasons inducing retransmission in link layer. An enhanced TFRC (ETFRC) scheme is proposed inte- grating TFRC with variable packet size policy. Simulation results demonstrate that higher goodput, lower packet loss rate (PLR), lower frame transmission delay and jitter with good fairness can be achieved by our proposed mechanism.展开更多

Bangladesh Television （BTV）, the only government owned and administered...In Bangladesh, more than a dozen of private TV channels are operating and about 10 new channels are waiting with green signal for transmission. Bangladesh Television （BTV）, the only government owned and administered, and known as structurally a biased institution serves the audience the public service information most. At the same time it serves purposes of incumbent government. Public information （PI） broadcast means broadcasting towards public welfare which may bring about change in the betterment of life and work of people. Its main focus would be on information, education, and motivation values rather than entertainment. In case of information, dissemination, and documentation, all private TV channels in Bangladesh serve more entertainment and less public service information, whereas, BTV＇s focus is evident on more PI. The owners and operators of private channels think first of their business profit as well as pressure from government and political parties. During formulating planning and strategies or building program content, they become cautious as they fear that the government become angry and shut down the channel.展开更多
We propose a novel prioritized intra refresh method for the wireless video communication.The proposed method considers the characteristics of the human visual system,the error-sensitivity of the bitstream,and the stat...We propose a novel prioritized intra refresh method for the wireless video communication.The proposed method considers the characteristics of the human visual system,the error-sensitivity of the bitstream,and the state of the time-varying wireless channel jointly.An expected perceptual distortion model was used to adjust the intra refresh rate adaptively.This model consists of the perceptual weight map based on an attention model,the bit error probability map based on bitstream size,and the dynamic channel state information(CSI).Experimental results indicate that,compared with other intra refresh methods that consider only the content of the video or the CSI,the proposed method improves the average peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) of the whole frame by about 0.5 dB,and improves the average PSNR of the attention-area by about 0.8 dB.展开更多
