Based on gross morphological and cuticular study, a new species, Elatides helongensis Sun et Zhao ( sp. nov. ) is described systematically. The new species is characterized by persistent, linear or slightly falcate leaves with obtusely acute apex, attached helically on the shoots. Female cones of the new species are terminal and oval, composed of persistent helically- arranged rhomboidal scales and erect seeds. One erect seed is growing on each scale. Leaf cuticles are hyposto- matic. Monocylic stomata are ellipse, composed of 2 sunken guard ceils and 4-8 subsidiary cells. Moreover, the cuticles of a young female cone of Pityostrobus yingchengensis Yang are described for the first time.展开更多

Survival rate of the antikeratin-injected embryos was much lower (only 35.76% at gastrula) than that of the control (74.85% at gastrula), in which embryos were injected with mouse IgG. Most of survivors in the experimental series showed aberrant external appearance. On the other hand, in cleavage stage, ie 2-7 h after fertilization, immunohistochemi-cal staining of embryos showed that the experimental embryos were mostly keratin negative, while embryos of the control ones were keratin positive. When introducing this antikeratin into one cell of a 2-cell embryo, only the unin-jected half of the embryo continued its development while the other half could not develop at all. These results suggested that intact keratin cytoskeleton in early embryos is indispensable to the embryonic development of Xenopus laevis.展开更多

Methods: SD rats were randomized into a normal group, a model group, a herbs-partitioned moxibustion group, and a sulfasalazine (SASP) group. The rats in the herbs-partitioned group were treated with herbs-partitioned moxibustion at Tianshu (ST 25) and Qihai (CV 6), and those in the SASP group were treated by intragastric administration. After interventions, HE staining and light microscope were adopted in observing the histopathological changes of rat's colon, and immunohistochemical methods for detecting the expressions of KGF-1, KGF-2, and IL-6 proteins in rat's colon. Results: Compared with the model group, the rats' colons in the herbs-partitioned moxibustion group and the SASP group were histopathologically improved; compared with the normal group, the expressions of KGF-1, KGF-2, and IL-6 proteins increased significantly in the model group (P〈0.05); after intervened by herbs-partitioned moxibustion and SASP respectively, the expressions of KGF-1, KGF-2, and IL-6 proteins in rat's colon were decreased markedly (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Both herbs-partitioned moxibustion and SASP can down-regulate the expressions of KGF-1, KGF-2, and IL-6 proteins in rat's colon, which might be one of the mechanisms of herbs-partitioned moxibustion and SASP in treating UC.展开更多
