The results suggest that the reaction temperature and KOH-to-ore mass ratio are more influential factors for the extraction of vanadium and chromium. Under the optimal reaction conditions (temperature 180 °C, initial KOH-to-ore mass ratio 4:1, stirring speed 700 r/min, gas flow 1 L/min, and reaction time 300 min), vanadium and chromium extraction rates can reach up to 95% and 90%, respectively. Kinetics analysis results show that the decomposing process of vanadium slag in KOH sub-molten salt can be well interpreted by the shrinking core model under internal diffusion control. The apparent activation energies for vanadium and chromium are 40.54 and 50.27 kJ/mol, respectively.展开更多

The methylene blue (MB) adsorption value was applied to evaluate the adsorption capabilities of the prepared carbon materials. The effects of preparation methods on adsorption capability and yield of products were investigated. The yield of carbon materials with the catalytic carbonation method is the highest, and the KOH activation method is the second level. Considering the adsorption performance, the KOH activation method is much more favorable. Among the different components of municipal solid waste-based carbon materials, the adsorption properties of the single component of paperboard, the double components of tire and paperboard, the triple components of tire, paperboard and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and the multi-component mixtures are better than those of other single-, double-, triple- and multi-component mixtures, respectively.展开更多

Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurements, and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) were employed to characterize the morphology, crystal structure, surface structure, and optical absorption properties of the samples. The microcrystal of the photocatalysts consisted of anatase phase and was approximately present in the form of spherical particle. The photocatalytic performance was studied by photodegradation methyl orange (MO) in water under UV and visible light irradiation. The calcination temperature and the doping content influenced the photoactivity. In addition, the possibility of cyclic usage of co-doped mesoporous titania was also confirmed, the photocatalytic activity of mesoporous titania remained above 89% of that of the fresh sample after being used four times. It was shown that the co-doped mesoporous titania could be activated by visible light and could thus be potentially applied for the treatment of water contaminated by organic pollutants. The synergistic effect of sulfur and silver co-doping played an important role in improving the photocatalytic activity.展开更多

Using XAD-8/XAD-4 resins, DOM was fractionated into five classes: hydrophobic acid (HPO-A), hydrophobic neutral (HPO-N), transphilic acid (TPI-A), transphilic neutral (TPI-N) and hydrophilic fraction (HPI). Subsequently, the water quality parameters of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), absorbance of ultraviolet light at 254 nm (UV-254), specific ultraviolet light absorbance (SUVA) and trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP) were analyzed for the unfractionated and fractionated water samples. The results showed that the order of the DOC removal with respect to DOM fractions was observed to be HPI〉HPO-A〉HPO-N〉TPI-A〉TPI-N. During the GAC treatment, the THMFP of the unfractionated water samples decreased from 397.4 μg/L to 176.5 μg/L, resulting in a removal efficiency of 55.6%. The removal order of the trilaalomethanes (THMs) precursor was as follows: HPO-A〉TPI-A〉TPI-N〉HPO-N〉HPI. By the GAC treatment, the specific THMFP of HPO-A, TPI-A, TPI-N and the original unfractionated water samples had a noticeable decrease, while that of HPO-N and HPI showed a converse trend. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) results showed that the hydroxide groups, carboxylic acids, aliphatic C-H were significantly reduced by GAC treatment.展开更多

The samples were characterized by TEM, SEM, BET, IR, XRD and so on. The results indicate that the BET surface area of TiO2/SiO2 aerogels calcined at 550℃ which consisted of anatase structure of TiO2 with narrow distribution pores of 5-25 nm is as high as 357.89 m2·g-1. For the photocatalytic degradation of pyridine, the catalytic activities of TiO2/SiO2 aerogels are much higher than that of TiO2 powder. The photocatalytic activity of TiO2/SiO2 aerogels calcined at 800℃ is the optimum. The higher the content of SiO2, the higher the photocatalytic activity of TiO2/SiO2 aerogels. The cost for preparation of the aerogels is greatly reduced by using non-supercritical drying method, and the aerogels are hopefully applied in the treatment of industrial waste water such as coking effluent treatment.展开更多

In this study, the goal is to obtain a mathematical model of an EGG; to achieve this, the EGG of 14 subjects (seven males and seven females) will be obtained. Initially, the Wayland algorithm to the EGG to measure the degree of determinism is applied. However, it could not be determined whether the EGG could be generated by a chaotic process. In addition, the waveform of the electric potential in the interstitial cells of Cajal is similar to the graphs of the numerical solutions to the Van der Pol equation. Therefore, the Van der Pol equation to a periodic function was added, and random white noise was used to represent the intestinal motility and other biosignals. The EGG and numerical solutions were compared and evaluated on the basis of the translation error (Etrans) in the Wayland algorithm and the maximum Lyapunov exponent (2) in Rosenstein's algorithm. By projecting the data from an obtained stationary EGG from the subjects, along with the numerical solutions, onto the Etrans-λ plane, the affinity between them was qualitatively evaluated. The EGG was well described by stochastic resonance from the stochastic differential equations.展开更多

Compared with powder catalysts, this monolithic electrode can achieve intimate contact between the electrocatalyst and the current collector, which will alleviate the problem of pulverization and enable the stable function of the electrode. It can be served as an efficient bi-functional electrocatalyst with an overpotential of 160 mV for HER and 290 mV for OER to produce current densities of 10 mA cm^(-2) in the alkaline medium. And it maintains benign stability after 5,000 cycles, which rivals many recent reported noble-metal free catalysts in 1.0mol L^(-1) KOH solution. Attributed to the easy, scalable methodology and high catalytic efficiency, this work not only offers a promising monolithic catalyst but also inspires us to exploit other inexpensive, highly efficient and self-standing noble metalfree electrocatalysts for scale-up electrochemical water-splitting technology.展开更多
