A resolution method based on Gaussian-like distribution for overlapped linear sweep polarographic peaks was proposed to simultaneously detect the polymetallic components, such as Zn(Ⅱ) and Co(Ⅱ), coexisting in the leaching solution of zinc hydrometallurgy. A Gaussian-like distribution was constructed as the sub-model of overlapped peaks by analyzing the characteristics of linear sweep polarographic curve. Then, the abscissas of each peak and trough were pinpointed through multi-resolution wavelet decomposition, the curve and its derivative curves were fitted by using nonlinear weighted least squares (NWLS). Finally, overlapped peaks were resolved into independent sub-peaks based on fitted reconstruction parameters. The experimental results show that the relative error of half-wave potential pinpointed by multi-resolution wavelet decomposition is less than 1% and the accuracy of Ip fitted by NWLS is higher than 96%. The proposed resolution method is effective for overlapped linear sweep polarographic peaks of Zn(Ⅱ) and Co(Ⅱ). 展开更多

In this paper, exact and numerical solutions are calculated for discrete complex Ginzburg-Landau equation with initial condition by considering the modified Adomian decomposition method (mADM), which is an efficient method and does not need linearization, weak nonlinearity assumptions or perturbation theory. The numerical solutions are also compared with their corresponding analytical solutions. It is shown that a very good approximation is achieved with the analytical solutions. This paper proposes a novel region based image fusion scheme based on multiresolution analysis. The low frequency band of the image multiresolution representation is segmented into important regions, sub-important regions and background regions. Each feature of the regions is used to determine the region’s degree of membership in the multiresolution representation, and then to achieve multiresolution representation of the fusion result. The final image fusion result can be obtained by using the inverse multiresolution transform. Experiments showed that the proposed image fusion method can have better performance than existing image fusion methods. 展开更多

Partial discharge detection in power transformers is discussed using a new approach that exploit the broad band of the Rogowski coils and the potential of two signal processing tools: discrete wavelet transform and empirical mode decomposition. Detecting and analyzing incipient activities of partial discharge can provide useful information to diagnostics and prognostics about transformer insulation. So, partial discharge signals embedded in the electric current at ground conductor are measured using the Rogowski coil. These signals are submitted to noise suppression and the partial discharges waveforms are extracted through different ways: using discrete wavelet transform and using empirical mode decomposition. The comparison of these two methods show that the extraction with discrete wavelet transform results in a faster and simpler algorithm than the empirical mode decomposition. But this one produces more precise waveforms due its adaptive characteristic. 展开更多

Two coaxial vertical cylinders-one is a riding hollow cylinder and the other a solid cylinder of greater radius at some distance above an impermeable horizontal bottom,were considered.This problem of diffraction by these two cylinders,which were considered as idealization of a buoy and a circular plate,can be considered as a wave energy device.The wave energy that is created and transferred by this device can be appropriately used in many applications in lieu of conventional energy.Method of separation of variables was used to obtain the analytical expressions for the diffracted potentials in four clearly identified regions.By applying the appropriate matching conditions along the three virtual boundaries between the regions,a system of linear equations was obtained,which was solved for the unknown coefficients.The potentials allowed us to obtain the exciting forces acting on both cylinders.Sets of exciting forces were obtained for different radii of the cylinders and for different gaps between the cylinders.It was observed that changes in radius and the gap had significant effect on the forces.It was found that mostly the exciting forces were significant only at lower frequencies.The exciting forces almost vanished at higher frequencies.The problem was also investigated for the base case of no plate arrangement,i.e.,the case having only the floating cylinder tethered to the sea-bed.Comparison of forces for both arrangements was carried out.In order to take care of the radiation of the cylinders due to surge motion,the corresponding added mass and the damping coefficients for both cylinders were also computed.All the results were depicted graphically and compared with available results. 展开更多

A neural network method for independent source separation (ISS) of multichannel electroencephalogram (EEG) is proposed in this paper.Using the denoising function of wavelet multiscale decomposition,the high-frequency noises are removed from the original (raw) EEGs.Then the multichannel EEGs are treated as the weighted mixtures and the expression of weight vector is obtained by seeking the local extrema of the fourth-order cumulants (i.e.kurtosis coefficients) of the mixtures.After these process steps,the weighted mixtures are used as the input of neural network,so the independent source of EEGs can be separated one by one.The experimental results show that our method is effective for ISS of multichannel EEGs. 展开更多

In this work,the ionospheric variability is analyzed by applying the wavelet decomposition technique to the noontime fo F2,F10.7,interplanetary magnetic field(IMF)Bz,Ap,and lower thermospheric temperature at pressure of 10?4 h Pa in 2002.Results show that the variance of periodic oscillations in the ionosphere is largest in the 2–4-day period and declines with the increase of the period.The maximum variance of the periodic oscillations in solar irradiation is in the 16–32-day period.For geomagnetic activities,most of the variance is about equally distributed on intervals of periods shorter than 32 days.Variance distributions of IMF Bz and lower thermospheric temperature are similar to those of the ionosphere.They show the maximum in the 2–4-day period and decline with the increase of the period.By analyzing the distributions of the variances,the potential connections between the ionosphere and the external sources are discussed. 展开更多
