Processing of 8-Channel Synchronous Electro-Cardiograph

A real time algorithm is presented here to recognize and analyze 8 channel simultaneous electro cardiograph(ECG). The algorithm transforms 8 channel simultaneous ECG into three orthogonal vectors and spatial velocity first, then forms the spatial velocity sample, and uses this spatial velocity sample to recognize each beat. The algorithm computes the averaged parameters by using averaged spatial velocity and the averaged ECG and the current parameters by using the current beat period and current width of QRS. The algorithm can recognize P, QRS and T onsets and ends of simultaneous 12 lead ECG precisely, and some arrhythmias such as premature ventricular beat, ventricular escape beat, R on T, bigeminy, trigeminy. The algorithm software works well on a real 8 channel ECG system and meets the demands of designing. 展开更多

At present time, there has been a demand for management systems that can survey and monitor a PC (personal computer) practice room, movement of people in an office, situation of utilization of facilities and so on in real time without causing psychological stress. For example, PC administrators in Japanese national educational institutions must report operation status of PC practice rooms once a year. But, there is currently no system for automatically recording PC operating situations. Therefore, the burden on the PC administrators is big. In this study, we aimed at systems for accurately managing the sitting and work time without psychologically stressing PC users. This time, we propose uniform management systems of sitting and work time using smart tap node and mat sensor node by IoT (Internet of Things) technology. The smart tap was connected to PCs to acquire the operating status of the PCs. In parallel with this smart tap, the mat sensor was used to acquire human presence state. By calculating binary data representing the PC operating status and human presence state from the two sensing data (smart tap and mat sensor) by the proposed technique, we can exactly calculate wasteful power consumption etc. The use of IoT technology makes it unnecessary to use large installation services when introducing our system. Despite its abundant vascularization and extensive circulatory communication with neighboring organs, metastases to the penis are a rare event. A 57-yearold male, who had undergone total pelvic exenteration for rectal cancer sixteen months earlier, demonstrated an abnormal uptake within his penis by positron emission tomography/computed tomography. A single elastic nodule of the middle penis shaft was noted deep within Bucks fascia. No other obvious recurrent site was noted except the penile lesion. Total penectomy was performed as a curative resection based on a diagnosis of isolated penile metastasis from rectal cancer. A histopathological examination revealed an increase of well differentiated adenocarcinoma in the corpus spongiosum consistent with his primary rectal tumor. The immunohistochemistry of the tumor cells demonstrated positive staining for cytokeratin 20 and negative staining for cytokeratin 7, which strongly supported a diagnosis of penile metastasis from the rectum. The patient is alive more than two years without any recurrence. 展开更多

A novel control strategy for three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF) was proposed to improve its performance under non-ideal mains voltages. The approach was inspired by our finding that the classic instantaneous reactive power theory based algorithm was unsatisfactory in terms of isolating positive sequence fundamental active components exactly under non-ideal mains voltages. So, a modified ip-iq reference current calculation method was presented. With usage of the new method, not only the positive sequence but also the fundamental active current components can be accurately isolated from load current. A deadbeat closed-loop control model is built in order to eliminate both delay error and tracking error between reference voltages and compensation voltages under unbalanced and distorted mains voltages. Computer simulation results show that the proposed strategy is effective with better tracking ability and lower total harmonic distortion (THD). The strategy is also applied to a 10 kV substation with a local electrolysis manganese plant injecting a large amount of harmonics into the power system, and is proved to be more practical and efficient. 展开更多

The art of cricket bowling is complex and arduous owing to the run-up and ball release time energy requirement to achieve speed and variations. Therefore, human bowlers cannot bowl for extended periods and numerous mechanical bowling machines have been built to help batsmen improve their skills during practice sessions. However, most of these existing machines are designed for spherical balls ignoring the distinguishing physical feature of a cricket ball: the raised equatorial seam, which makes it less of a sphere. The bowlers are known to often benefit from this seam in their pursuit to taking the batsmen's wicket by imparting swing, spin and bounce variations along-with other bowling variables. This lack of the seam consideration creates a void between human and mechanical bowling. In this work, we present design and development of an automatic bowling machine termed as ROBOWLER to make mechanical bowling more realistic. This machine ensures ball seam position as well as fulfills other constraints. Ball pitching and seam position accuracy results underscore the suitability of this design to enhance the capabilities of mechanical bowling. 展开更多

Fast prediction of permeability directly from images enabled by image recognition neural networks is a novel pore-scale modeling method that has a great potential. This article presents a framework that includes (1) generation of porous media samples,(2) computation of permeability via fluid dynamics simulations,(3) training of convolutional neural networks (CNN) with simulated data, and (4) validations against simulations. Comparison of machine learning results and the ground truths suggests excellent predictive performance across a wide range of porosities and pore geometries, especially for those with dilated pores. Owning to such heterogeneity, the permeability cannot be estimated using the conventional Kozeny–Carman approach. Computational time was reduced by several orders of magnitude compared to fluid dynamic simulations. We found that, by including physical parameters that are known to affect permeability into the neural network, the physics-informed CNN generated better results than regular CNN. However, improvements vary with implemented heterogeneity. 展开更多

Optimization of Neutrino Oscillation Parameters Using Differential Evolution

We show how the traditional grid based method for finding neutrino oscillation parameters △m2 and tan2θ can be combined with an optimization technique, Differential Evolution (DE), to get a significant decrease in computer processing time required to obtain minimal chi-square (χ2) in four different regions of the parameter space. We demonstrate efficiency for the two-neutrinos case. For this, the χ2 function for neutrino oscillations is evaluated for grids with different density of points in standard allowed regions of the parameter space of △m2 and tan2θ using experimental and theoretical total event rates of ehlorine (Homestake), Gallex+GNO, SAGE, Superkamiokande, and SNO detectors. We find that using DE in combination with the grid based method with smail density of points can produce the results comparable with the one obtained using high density grid, in much lesser computation time. 展开更多
