The experimental study was conducted using 0.10%, 0.20% and 0.30% volume concentra tion of A1203-water nanofluids. The results showed considerable enhancement of convective heat transfer using the nanofluids. The empirical correlations developed for Nusselt number in terms of Reynolds number, Prandtl number, viscosity ratio and volume concentration fit with the experimental data within ±10%. The heat transfer characteris tics were also simulated using computational fluid dynamics using FLUENT software with the standard ke model and multiple reference frame were adopted. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) predicted Nusselt number agrees well with the experimental value and the discrepancy is found to be less than +8%.展开更多

This research was carried out through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation by software Ansys CFX-10.0 in 3D,with K-epsilon being considered in the turbulence model. The efficiency of the use of porous fences as a protection against the wind flow,which interacts with an open storage pile,is shown. The use of these fences (when porosity is ε=30%) allows the reduction of wind flow velocity which interacts with the pile in comparison with the case of no use of fences (when porosity is 100%). Structural analysis and aerodynamic analysis were carried out through finite element method (FEM) software NASTRAN and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software FLUENT, respectively. Correlative data transfer and mesh regenerate procedure were applied to couple the results of computational structure dynamics (CSD) and CFD. After static aeroelasticity analysis under different flight attitudes, it can be seen that lift increases with the increase of flight speed and the incremental value enlarges gradually in both rigid and elastic wings. Lift presents a linear increment relationship with the increase of attack angle when the flight speed is 0.4Ma or 0.6Ma, but nonlinear increment in elastic wing when flight speed is 0.8Ma. On the effect of aeroelasticity, the maximum of deformation increases with the increase of flight speed and attack angle, and the incremental value decreases with the increase of flight speed while uniform with different attack angles. We can say that single-physics CFD has been suffciently matured in the practical...Nowadays Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software is adopted as a design and analysis tool in a great number of engineering fields. We can say that single-physics CFD has been suffciently matured in the practical point of view. The main target of existing CFD software is single-phase flows such as water and air. However, many multi-physics problems exist in engineering. Most of them consist of flow and other physics, and the interactions between different physics are very important. Obviously, multi-physics phenomena are critical in devel- oping machines and processes. A multi-physics phenomenon seems to be very complex, and it is so difficult to be predicted by adding other physics to flow phenomenon. Therefore, multi-physics CFD techniques are still under research and development. This would be caused from the facts that processing speed of current computers is not fast enough for conducting a multi-physics simulation, and furthermore physical models except for flow physics have not been suitably established. Therefore, in near future, we have to develop various physical models and ef- ficient CFD techniques, in order to success multi-physics simulations in engineering. In the present paper, I will describe the present states of multi-physics CFD simulations, and then show some numerical results such as ice accretion and electro-chemical machining process of a three-dimensional compressor blade which were obtained in my laboratory. In the present paper,computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulations were executed to exploring the intent of using aspirated cascade to replace tandem cascades.Firstly,the ONERA tandem cascades were investigated,and th...In the present paper,computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulations were executed to exploring the intent of using aspirated cascade to replace tandem cascades.Firstly,the ONERA tandem cascades were investigated,and the performance of the cascades at the design point were listed,such as diffusion factor,total pressure loss coefficient,deviation angle etc.For replacing the ONERA tandem cascades,a new cascade was designed with the codes BLADEGEN developed by the authors.The quasi 3-D calculations were carried out using the collection of programs for cascade analysis and design,MISES.The cascade was analyzed and designed by using this code.And the cascade was simulated and analyzed by commercial CFD software.It is found there is an obvious separation on the suction side.Based on the 3D CFD simulation results of the cascade without aspiration,an aspirated cascade was designed by introducing a slot on the suction side.The performance of the aspirated cascade was investigated and compared with the tandem cascades,indicated that under the same inlet condition,the total pressure loss of the single row aspirated cascade was less than that of the tandem cascades,and the outlet static pressure is higher than that of the tandem cascades.Meanwhile,the different suction slot location,suction width and suction mass flow are studied for the aspirated cascade.展开更多
