While in universities of China, students do not have strong autonomy in English language learning. The author tries to adopt specific meta-cognitive strategies to facilitate students' autonomy in learning by improving learners' capacities in study planning or management, monitoring and evaluating in learning to raise their consciousness and ability in autonomy, and lay a foundation for life-long learning.展开更多

That the cause why university students' English autonomous learning ability is weak is proved to be that they do not value the use of learning strategies. The use of learning strategies can promote the formation and enhancement of autonomous learning ability of the learners. Metacognitive strategy is a high-level management skill which can enable the learners to plan, regulate, monitor and evaluate actively their own learning process. Massive researches have proved whether metacognitive strategy is used successfully or not can directly affect the student learning result. So, it is necessary for teachers to cultivate and train the students to use metacogitive strategy in the university English teaching.展开更多

The analysis demonstrates that constructivism helps to establish subject's control over the reality perceived by him when eliminating any deviations or resentments from his preferable target condition. In this case, the model of the world cognized contains only the aspects which are relevant to subject's purposes and actions. It is advanced the idea the current stage of science development is connected with the change of its fundamental bases. As a result, the model of the reality becomes a result of interaction between subject of scientific and cognitive activity with the reality, but the ideas of constructivism in its classical meaning don't correspond to this conclusion. The author proves that cognition based on the constructive realism is the most appropriate to the modern stage of epistemology development as it cancels the opposition of constructivism and realism in some extent and promotes getting a rational knowledge about the reality by subject.展开更多

Their work has served to connect familiar empiricist approaches to thought and reason with contemporary cognitive psychology and neuroscience. The work of Prinz is of special philosophical significance since it aims to bring together the work of neo-empirically minded theorists in the cognitive and neuro-sciences with main themes found in contemporary philosophical theories of intentionality and reference. In this paper, I examine Prinz's efforts to synthesize a neo-empiricist theory of concepts with contemporary semantic theories of reference and intentionality. In part one, I analyze Prinz's approach in some depth. In part two, I raise a question concerning the origins of intentionality. Specifically, I am interested in examining the minimum cognitive prerequisites for intentionality within Prinz's theory of perception-based representation. In part three, I raise a problem case for Prinz's account of the requirements for intentionality, and propose an adjustment in Prinz's account to meet the challenge of the objection.展开更多

What is the advantage of (minl"mally invasive) approach in (frail patients) undergoing (aortic valve replacement)? In cardiac outpatient clinic you review an 85-year old male with severe aortic valve stenosis, low left ventricular ejection fraction and creatinine clearance of less than 50 mL/min. Other comorbidities include treated pulmonary hypertension, mild cognitive impairment, marked limitation of ordinary physical activity and depression. You resolve to determine whether to recommend mim'mally invasive or conventional aortic valve replacement (AVR) or transcathe- ter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), however you are not sure of the differences of the impact of frailty on preopera- tive risk for each approach; hence you investigate the best evidence on the topic.展开更多

The hallmark of a profession is the presence of a common body of knowledge and it can be claimed that a theoretical body of knowledge for the "financial planning profession" has always existed, although it has only been in recent times that agreement has been reached on a common understanding of the theoretical basis of the financial planning profession. This common body of knowledge is the basis upon which the Financial Planning Standards Board [FPSB] is attempting to develop a global curriculum as part of the certification process for financial planners. The FPSB has developed a curriculum framework to be applied by its affiliate members to ensure consistency in global education standards. A review of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification in Australia, China, India and the United States exposes differences in how this is approached. The Intemational Organization for Standardization [ISO] has also emerged as another forum in which global financial planning education standards have been set. Although the FPSB's global financial planning education standards has a high degree of compatibility with the ISO standard, the ISO standard has largely remained as a shelf reference.展开更多

To solve this, the paper introduces a Case-Based Reasoning methodology to endow robots with an efficient decision structure aiming of selecting the best maneuver to avoid collisions. In particular, Manhattan Distance was implemented to perform the retrieval process in CBR method. Four scenarios were depicted to run a set of experiments in order to validate the functionality of the implemented work. Finally, conclusions emphasize the advantages of CBR methodology to perform autonomous navigation in unknown and uncertain environments.展开更多

It is a leading theory of education at the end of 20th century and the early 21th century. Language itself is a kind of social construct, learning a language is construct personal knowledge. Under the guidance of constructivist learning theory, English teaching has transformed into a student-centered self-construct mode. It created a new situation that students can receive the overall development and personality development through situation setting, collaborative learning and meaning construction.展开更多

The aims of the study were to investigate students' attitudes towards learner autonomy and their autonomous practice both inside and outside the classroom and to examine levels of relationship among learner autonomy, metacognitive strategy use and English achievement. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations are made for promoting learner autonomy in future college English teaching and learning in China. It is hoped that they can provide some guidance for curriculum development, syllabus design and material revision as well as in-and-out of classroom practice regarding the promotion of learner autonomy in China's ELT context.展开更多

Evaluation follows the description of each theory. The point is to understand the impacts of different theories on second language learning. The paper argues that an integrated approach, which combines the three theories, is needed.展开更多
