Amidst the debate over his popular writings （Albanese; Ndagano）, the discussion turns to whether Coelho continues a poetics of narrative developed by Jorge Luis Borges. This paper explores how Coelho＇s work may depart from a reading of Borges, yet goes beyond it into what Bakhtin established as ＂the Einsteinian universe applied to literary studies＂, as posited by Stone （2008）. Coelho＇s work is affected by hypertexts, new ways of connecting and perceiving subjectivities, and cross-cultural pilgrimages. A hermeneutic reading of his novel, The Zahir： A Novel of Obsession （2005b）, allows us to delve into the Coelhian the notion of the zahir as a tensional metaphor （Ricouer） of world-making （Valdes）. This underscores the postmodern assumption of the author as just another reader, albeit an ably active one. Through the courageous act of making his reading（s） transparent through writing, he invites other readers into the dialectical presumptions of his world.展开更多
JiTT （Just-in-Time Teaching） and flipped classroom are two innovations in academia where high-tech and no-tech resources are blended to encourage more interaction and creativity among students. These two methods als...JiTT （Just-in-Time Teaching） and flipped classroom are two innovations in academia where high-tech and no-tech resources are blended to encourage more interaction and creativity among students. These two methods also help minimize the dependency on face-to-face lecture and make the class time more creative and effective. This study is the very first attempt of implementing these strategies in Bangladesh. It explores the prospect of JiTT and flipped classroom at tertiary level in Bangladesh. In the first part of this paper, recent studies on JiTT and flipped classroom are discussed to shed light on their effectiveness and problems. The latter part explains the data and research findings. Before collecting the data, JiTT and flipped classroom were used with 33 students of undergraduate level who were students of＂ELT Methodology＂ course. After the implementation of the methods, a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data regarding their response to these two methods. The study reveals that JiTT and flipped classroom help cover more topics in a short time while enhancing students＇ interaction and participation. They make students come to the class prepared and reflect on their learning. Teachers can understand students need better and provide required feedback. The overall interaction among students and teachers can be improved using JiTT and flipped classroom since everyone is clear about each other＇s existing knowledge and learning objectives.展开更多

This qualita...This article is based on research on pre-service teachers＇ perspectives on their mathematics knowledge of proof in geometry. The study was framed using tile mathematical knowledge for teaching framework. This qualitative study employed the use of a task-based worksheet, focus group sessions and semi-structured individual interviews. The task-based worksheet was completed by 180 pre-service mathematics teachers （second, third and fourth year mathematics education students）. Pre-service mathematics teachers are student teachers who have not yet completed their training to become teachers. After the analysis of the task-based worksheet, 20 participants were invited to participate in focus group sessions and individual interviews. The findings of the study reveal that the participants possess peripheral mathematics knowledge of proof in geometry. The study aims at assisting pre-service teachers and interested educationists to explore innovative methods of acquiring and imparting mathematics knowledge of proof in geometry. The study proposes possible changes in curriculum at school and university level.展开更多
