To solve the problem of convergence to a local optimum in the multi-layer feedforward neural net-work, a new disturbance gradient algorithm is proposed. Through introducing random disturbance into the training process, the algorithm can avoid being trapped into the local optimum. The random disturbance obeys the Boltzmann distribution. The convergence of the algorithm to the global optimum is statistically guaranteed. The application of the algorithm in RoboCup, which is a complex multi-agent system, is dis-cussed. Experiment results illustrate the learning efficiency and generalization ability of the proposed al-gorithm. 展开更多

This paper reviews recent developments in nonlinear control technologies for shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators in robotics and their related applications. SMA possesses large hysteresis, low bandwidth, slow response, and non-linear behavior, which make them difficult to control. The fast response of the SMA actuator mostly depends upon, (1) type of controller, (2) rate of addition and removal of heat, and (3) shape or form of the actuator. Though linear controllers are more desirable than nonlinear ones, the review of literature shows that the results obtained using nonlinear controllers were far better than the former one. Therefore, more emphasis is made on the nonlinear control technologies taking into account the intelligent controllers. Various forms of SMA actuator along with different heating and cooling methods are presented in this review, followed by the nonlinear control methods and the control problems encountered by the researchers. 展开更多

A memory management unit (MMU) is designed to implement a virtual machine for user programs, and provides a management mechanism between the operating system and user programs. This paper analyzes the tradeoffs considered in the MMU design of Unity 11 CPU of Peking University, and introduces in detail the solution of pure hardware table walking with two level page table organization. The implementation takes care of required operations and high performances needed by modern operating systems and low costs needed by embedded systems. This solution has been silicon proven, and successfully porting the Linux 2.4.17 kernel, the XWindow system, GNOME and most application software onto the Unity platform. 展开更多

To fully make use of information from different representation subspaces,a multi-head attention-based long short-term memory(LSTM)model is proposed in this study for speech emotion recognition(SER).The proposed model uses frame-level features and takes the temporal information of emotion speech as the input of the LSTM layer.Here,a multi-head time-dimension attention(MHTA)layer was employed to linearly project the output of the LSTM layer into different subspaces for the reduced-dimension context vectors.To provide relative vital information from other dimensions,the output of MHTA,the output of feature-dimension attention,and the last time-step output of LSTM were utilized to form multiple context vectors as the input of the fully connected layer.To improve the performance of multiple vectors,feature-dimension attention was employed for the all-time output of the first LSTM layer.The proposed model was evaluated on the eNTERFACE and GEMEP corpora,respectively.The results indicate that the proposed model outperforms LSTM by 14.6%and 10.5%for eNTERFACE and GEMEP,respectively,proving the effectiveness of the proposed model in SER tasks. 展开更多

A ternary Ni2FeSb shape memory alloy was fabricated by powder metallurgy route. Sintering kinetics was estimated from dilatometry tests; whereas the microstructure and morphology of the powder and consolidated bulk samples were evaluated by XRD and SEM, respectively. Microhardness tests were performed on the surface of sintered samples. The results indicated that milling time has an effect on the shape and particle size as well as the homogeneity of the crystalline structures of the powders. Samples with longer milling time presented higher relative densities, better distribution of the elements on the alloy as well as the L21 and martensite phases, which will give the shape memory effect. The estimated activation energy values ranged from 109 to 282 kJ/mol at temperatures between 750 and 1273 K, indicating that sintering is controlled mainly by volume diffusion. Microhardness was improved by increasing the milling time and the heating rate. 展开更多

In order to present the microstructures of dynamic recrystallization(DRX) in different deformation zones of hot extruded NiTi shape memory alloy(SMA) pipe coupling,a simulation approach combining finite element method(FEM) with cellular automaton(CA) was developed and the relationship between the macroscopic field variables and the microscopic internal variables was established.The results show that there exists a great distinction among the microstructures in different zones of pipe coupling because deformation histories of these regions are diverse.Large plastic deformation may result in fine recrystallized grains,whereas the recrystallized grains may grow very substantially if there is a rigid translation during the deformation,even if the final plastic strain is very large.As a consequence,the deformation history has a significant influence on the evolution path of the DRX as well as the final microstructures of the DRX,including the morphology,the mean grain size and the recrystallization fraction. 展开更多

The results showed that the mean reaction time and distance of temporal ischemic rats in searching a goal were significantly longer than those of the sham-operated rats and at the same time HSP32 and HSP70 expression of left temporal ischemic region in rats was significantly increased as compared with the sham-operated rats. However, the mean reaction time and distance of the Batroxobin-treated rats were shorter and they used normal strategies more often and earlier than those of ischemic rats. The number of HSP32 and HSP70 immune reactive cells of Batroxobin-treated rats was also less than that of the ischemic group. In conclusion, Batroxobin can improve spatial memory disorder of temporal ischemic rats; and the down-regulation of the expression of HSP32 and HSP70 is probably related to the attenuation of ischemic injury. 展开更多

Shape memory effect is capability of certain materials to recover its original shape after an apparently permanent deformation. The NiTi alloy of the composition is approximately equiatomic and it is the materials that exhibit the best characteristics for application of these properties, especially in the biomedical area, because of their excellent biocompatibility as: in the manufacture of medical and dental instruments, orthodontic wires, orthopedic materials, guide wires, stents, filters and components to realize the less invasive surgeries. In other areas, they are used for confections of electronic keys, spectacle frames, application in controllers, junction of pipes and electronic connectors among others. New research topics involving the application of these alloys super-elasticity are also known as pseudo elasticity. This event has an isothermal nature and involves the storage of potential energy in the shape memory effect and super-elasticity. In this context, this work falls within the scope of use of the technologies being an example of the work undertaken, in the course Graduate of Federal University of Pernambuco in skills in these technologies. It will present the results of a heat engine which engine element is a helical spring made of a NiTi alloy equiatomic with memory effect reversibly. The spring is triggered by a hot source (- 373.15 K) and a cold source (273.15 K). The machine is capable of producing a reciprocating oscillating between the two sources. Heat equations and the equations that describe the dynamic behavior of the spring were developed. Through the development of dynamic equations, it can determine the minimum mass for the motion of the machine, as well as the instantaneous and average power and overall efficiency. You can check the functionality of the machine by way of the inclination angle of the propeller and the coefficient of static friction. Among the main results, it was observed that the overall performance of the machine compared to the machines of this category showed the feasibility of the project. 展开更多

The sample (N = 70) involved two intact groups of college students. Subjects in one group exposed to instruction in the form of etymological familiarity while subjects in the comparison group were asked to memorize idioms on the basis of their given meaning. Subjects were then administered two post-tests: one to assess initial idiom acquisition, and another four weeks later to assess idiom retention. Statistical analyses produced sufficient support for both the first hypothesis (that the etymological elaboration condition would acquire more idioms than the rote memorization condition), and the second hypothesis—that the etymological familiarity would exhibit superior retention rates. The finding of this study suggests that for the purpose of encouraging long-term retention, elaborating on the original usage of idioms is preferable to requiring students to learn idioms by rote. 展开更多
