The main objective was and remains the selective flotation of scheelite from other calcium-bearing minerals, in particular calcite, fluorite and apatite. Due to similar properties, most attempts have limited success or only specific application(linked to a type of ore or a location). This article aims at reviewing all general physical-chemical information on froth flotation of scheelite, including electrokinetic properties, influence of p H and already existing reagents as well as ones still under examination. It appears that chelating or mixed collectors and modified versions of sodium silicate and quebracho hold great promise for scheelite flotation, while the use of said depressants and/or promoters seems inevitable.展开更多

The induction period was measured visually. The solid-liquid interfacial tension was determined on the basis of classical homogenous nucleation theory and the surface entropy factor was calculated. It was shown that the interfacial tension and surface entropy factor increased with the increase of acetone concentration and the decrease of temperature. It was demonstrated that the growth mechanism of spectinomycin dihydrochloride crystal was controlled by birth and spread growth in pure water or in acetone-water mixture at high temperatures and turned from birth and spread growth to spiral growth with the increase of acetone concentration in acetone-water mixture at low temperatures.展开更多
The similarities of the non-linear chemical (NLC) fingerprints of Radix Glycyrrhizaes from four producing areas and eight other traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) were calculated, using a systemic similarity cal...The similarities of the non-linear chemical (NLC) fingerprints of Radix Glycyrrhizaes from four producing areas and eight other traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) were calculated, using a systemic similarity calculation method proposed and three other main calculation ones (Euclidean distance, correlation coefficient and included angle cosine). All of the correlation coefficient similarities of different TCMs are higher than 0.952, and the included angle cosines are all higher than 0.962. So, both the conelation coefficient and included angle cosine similarities are unable to be used as the criteria for quantitatively evaluating the similarities of NLC fingerprints of TCMs. Although all of the Euclidean distance similarities of Berry Liquorices from four producing areas are less than 73, those of the other eight TCMs are all more than 180. The Euclidean distance cannot reflect the relative magnitudes of the feature differences in the NLC fingerprints very correctly. The systemic similarity method is the best among the four ones. All of the systemic similarities of Berry Liquorices from the four producing areas are higher than 0.962, while those of the other eight TCMs are all lower than 0.805, and the systemic similarity can reflect the differences between samples most faithfully, and can be used as a quantitative one evaluating the similarities of NLC fingerprints of TCMs, by which TCM could be distinguished and evaluated quickly, simply and exactly.展开更多

Even assuming that the feud between the rationalists and the empiricists during this period yielded no other benefits, it was beneficial enough to turn "experience" into an important pillar of the acquisition of knowledge in the subsequent philosophy. It was this "experience-mindedness" that drove away the Aristotelian "essentialist" perspective and replaced it with "nominalism." By describing the genesis and emergence of the "nominalist-empirical" perspective in analytic philosophy as one of the branches of the human sciences, this article strives to advance the claim that philosophical thinking continues to flourish in the absence of "realist thinking about universals" and that philosophizing does not fundamentally rest on universals.展开更多

Methods Three hundred and forty-three patients were randomly divided into a pricking at Sìfèng (四缝 EX-UE 10) group (priking group, n=105), a Chinese herbs group (n=85) and a pricking and Chinese herbs group (n=153). The improvements of the clinical symptoms of all three groups were evaluated after the treatment. Results The results of these treatments for all the patients were satisfying. The effective rate of the pricking and Chinese herbs group, which was 98.7 % (151/153), was superior to that of 94.3 % (99/105) (P0.05) in the pricking group and 91.8% (78/85) in the Chinese herbs group (P0.01), while no differences in effective rate were found between the pricking group and the Chinese herbs group (P0.05). Conclusion The pricking at Sìfèng (四缝 EX-UE 10) combined with Chinese herbs is the best treatment for infantile malnutrition.展开更多

Objective: To observe the effect of combined acupuncture and Chinese herbal formula on the motor function and activities of daily living (ADL) of post-stroke patients and further evaluate the resultant clinical eff...Objective: To observe the effect of combined acupuncture and Chinese herbal formula on the motor function and activities of daily living (ADL) of post-stroke patients and further evaluate the resultant clinical efficacy. Methods: A total of 80 acute stroke patients were randomly divided into a control group (40 cases) and an observation group (40 cases). Conventional Western medicine management was employed in the control group, while additional acupuncture and Chinese herbal formula were employed in the observation group. After completing the sessions of treatment, changes of the motor function (using the US National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, NIHSS) and activities of daily living (using Barthel Index) were measured. Results: The total effective rate in the observation group was 87.5%, versus 62.5% in the control group, showing a statistical difference (P〈0.05). After the treatment, the motor function and activities of daily living of patients in both groups were markedly improved (P〈0.05), and those in the observation group presented with a better result (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Conventional Western medicine management coupled with acupuncture and Chinese herbal formula are beneficial to the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with cerebral infarction.展开更多

Herein, we model the TDD system and design a novel rod-like nanocarrier by using the coarse grained model-based density functional theory, which combines a modified fundamental measure theory for the excluded-volume effects, Wertheim's first-order thermodynamics perturbation theory for the chain connectivity and the mean field approximation for van der Waals attraction. For comparison, the monomer nanocarrier TDD system and the no nanocarrier one are also investigated. The results indicate that the drug delivery capacity of rod-like nanocarriers is about 62 times that of the no nanocarrier one, and about 6 times that of the monomer nanocarriers. The reason is that the rod-like nanocarriers would self-assemble into the smectic phase perpendicular to the membrane surface. It is the self-assembly of the rod-like nanocarriers that yields the driving force for the targeted delivery of drugs inside the cell membrane. By contrast, the conventional monomer nanocarrier drug delivery system lacks the driving force to deliver the drugs into the cell membrane. In short, the novel rod-like nanocarrier TDD system may improve the drug delivery efficiency. Although the model in this work is simple, it is expected that the system may provide a new perspective for cancer targeted therapy.展开更多
