A study of factors influencing consumers' behavior in recycling waste household electronic appliances

The innovation of technologzv and the improvement of people's living standard accelerate the replacement of consumer electronic appliances, resulting in a significant increase of waste household electronic appliances (WHEA). To address the environmental problems of WHEA, many countries have enacted legislation according to WHEA management, including collecting, processing and recycling. The regulations on the management of WHEA were also drafted in China and pilot programs of WHEA recycling management encountered difficulties in collecting WHEA. The success of a recycling scheme is dependent on people's willingness of participating in the scheme, This paper applies Ajzen's theory of planned behavior to seek the main factors to engourage consumers to participate in WHEA recycling management in China. Data from a survey conducted with a sample of 633 consumers show that service motivation is the first predictor of participation behavior intention, followed by environmental behavior attitude, economic motivation, subjective norm. and perceived behavior barrier. Environmental knowledge is found not to be the predictor of behavior intention in this recycling scheme. Study results also suggest that publicity is the key situational factor in the WHEA recycling management. Recycling network and policy have little influence on changing consumers' current behavior intention and participation. Implications of the findings are discussed and future research directions are suggested in the end. 展开更多

In order to understand the monitoring efficiency status of the well-water-level observation network in China after the completion of the 10 th "Five-year Plan " digital network project,and to provide a basis for the future network optimization and equipment updating, the monitoring efficiency of the well-water-level observation network was evaluated. On the whole,61. 8% observing stations have good monitoring effectiveness,the observation environment of 73. 5% of observing stations meets the monitoring requirements of well-water-level. The operation status of the network is as a whole getting better,operation rates of 75% observing instruments are above 95%. Most well water levels can monitor crustal stress changes and seismic activities. However,some observation stations,due to inherent deficiency in wells,environmental disturbance,instrument aging,and low-level operation and maintenance,need to improve the monitoring efficiency level by taking measures such as observation environment improvement,equipment updating,and management training. The substations taken in consideration were rehabilitated by replacing the existing equipments by new equipments, the last generation. The methods consist in study of equipment's failures, study of equipment's behaviour, study of substation architecture and study of systems operation. Paper presents new equipments on their architecture and performances. The parts of method exposed in this paper are based on the operational reliability. The mathematical methods and new analyses methods are given for resolving the issues on operation of substations. The results of this study will be used to obtain the best solution for operation of the substations. The results of the analysis were applied to some substation from the Transmission Power Grid. 展开更多

"Agriculture petroleum" theory was put forward by the Sudanese President, Mr. Bashir. To thoroughly understand his theory it is necessary to identify which countries' agriculture performed best in the world before and after the advent of petroleum. Reviews and international cooperation results conclude that the Chinese traditional agriculture was considered as one of the most sustainable agriculture in the world before petroleum and based on its experience of traditional agriculture updated with modem technology and equipment, China's modern agriculture achieves world famous accomplishment. Unlike in China, agriculture, especially conventional petroleum based agriculture causes problems all over the world. In contrast to petroleum, agriculture is a permanent industry, and if managed properly, it could bring sustainable prosperity to a country. Relying on unique natural resources, agriculture could bring Sudan permanent development and prosperity by learning from China's traditional agriculture experience and modern agriculture achievements. To introduce good and rapid agriculture development in Sudan, potentials and opportunities are analyzed, six suggestions are proposed: attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), strengthening international cooperation, developing irrigated scale farming, paying high attention to planning, practicing the four combinations and changing views. 展开更多

A friction damper device (FDD) is used for vibration control of an existing steel jacket platform under seismic excitation. First, the damping is presented for vibration mitigation of structures located in seismically active zones. A new method for quick design of friction or yielding damping devices is presented. The effectiveness of the damping system employing such FDDs in a jacket platform is evaluated numerically. The influence of key parameters of the damping system on the vibration suppression of the offshore structure is studied in detail. To examine the vibration control effectiveness of the FDD for the jacket platform, performance of the controlled structure under the seismic forces is studied using numerical simulations. A parametric study is undertaken to discover the optimized slip load and brace area of the FDD. It is shown that the FDD is effective in mitigating the dynamic responses of the offshore platform structure. 展开更多
