For this reason, Collabora... Improving the efficiency of ship optimization is crucial for modem ship design. Compared with traditional methods, multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) is a more promising approach. For this reason, Collaborative Optimization (CO) is discussed and analyzed in this paper. As one of the most frequently applied MDO methods, CO promotes autonomy of disciplines while providing a coordinating mechanism guaranteeing progress toward an optimum and maintaining interdisciplinary compatibility. However, there are some difficulties in applying the conventional CO method, such as difficulties in choosing an initial point and tremendous computational requirements. For the purpose of overcoming these problems, optimal Latin hypercube design and Radial basis function network were applied to CO. Optimal Latin hypercube design is a modified Latin Hypercube design. Radial basis function network approximates the optimization model, and is updated during the optimization process to improve accuracy. It is shown by examples that the computing efficiency and robustness of this CO method are higher than with the conventional CO method. 展开更多

The secure socket layer/ transport layer security(SSL/TLS) handshake protocol uses public key cryptographic algorithms such as RSA for key establishment. Typically, public key cryptographic algorithm is computational intensive due to the modular multiplications. Therefore, SSL/TLS servers often become swamped while performing public key decryptions when the simultaneous requests increase quickly. A batch RSA decryption algorithm was proposed. The novel algorithm provides the reasonable response time and optimizes server performance significantly. The decryption speedup is proportional to the batch size b, for instance, the speedup factor is 4, while in Shacham's scheme the acceleration rate is only 2.5 when b = 4. 展开更多

Engineering change management is a special form of problem solving where many rules must be followed to satisfy the requirements of product changes.As engineering change has great influence on the cycle and the cost of product development,it is necessary to anticipate design changes(DCs)in advance and estimate the influence effectively.A process simulation-based method for engineering change management is proposed incorporating multiple assessment parameters.First,the change propagation model is established,which includes the formulation of change propagation influence,assessment score of DC solution.Then the optimization process of DC solution is introduced based on ant colony optimization(ACO),and an optimization algorithm is detailed to acquire the optimal DC solution automatically.Finally,a case study of belt conveyor platform is implemented to validate the proposed method.The results show that changed requirement of product can be satisfied by multiple DC solutions and the optimal one can be acquired according to the unique characteristics of each solution. 展开更多

Signed digraphs (SDG) capture the direction of the effect. It should be mentioned that there are loops in SDG generated from chemical process. From the point of the inherent operability, the worst unsafe factor is the SDG having positive loops that means any disturbance occurring within the loop will propagate through the nodes one by one and are amplified gradually, so the system may lose control, which may lead to an accident. So finding the positive loops in a SDG and treating these unsafe factors in a proper manner can improve the inherent safety of a chemical process. This article proposed a method that can detect the above-mentioned unsafe factors in the proc- ess conceptual design stage automatically through the analysis of the SDG generated from the chemical process. A case study is illustrated to show the working of the algorithm, and then a complicated case from industry is studied to depict the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

This letter proposes a method for designing a specific formation of satellites where the flying motion only exists in a circle orbit plane of the reference satellite, which means that the orbit eccentricity is zero. This method combines the Hill equation, the Kepler equation, and the geometrical inea^ing of orbit elements. It creates the redundancy condition to simplify the deducing process, utilizes multiple conditions to solve the orbit elements for the satellite formation, and obtains the analytical relationship of the orbit elements for the formation satellites with the formation parameters and the orbit elements of the reference satellite. Using these formulations, the orbit elements and formation parameters for the formation satellites can be solved for the given orbit elements of the reference satellite. The letter describes the proposed double-ellipse formation for both GMTI and InSAR, and the validity of the formation is demonstrated via simulation. 展开更多

Access control in a grid environment is a challenging issue because the heterogeneous nature and independent administration of geographically dispersed resources in grid require access control to use fine-grained policies. We established a task-and-role-based access-control model for computational grid (CG-TRBAC model), integrating the concepts of role-based access control (RBAC) and task-based access control (TBAC). In this model, condition restrictions are defined and concepts specifically tailored to Workflow Management System are simplified or omitted so that role assignment and security administration fit computational grid better than traditional models; permissions are mutable with the task status and system variables, and can be dynamically controlled. The CG-TRBAC model is proved flexible and extendible. It can implement different control policies. It embodies the security principle of least privilege and executes active dynamic authorization. A task attribute can be extended to satisfy different requirements in a real grid system. 展开更多

Although soft robots have shown great potentials for extended applications and possibilities that are impossible or difficult for rigid body robots, it is of great importance for them to have the capability of controllable stiffness modulation. Stiffness modulation allows soft robots to have reversible change between the compliant, or flexible state and the rigid state. In this paper, we summarize existing principles and methods for stiffness modulation in soft robotic development and divide them into four groups based on their working principles. Acoustic-based methods have been proposed as the potential fifth group in stiffness modulation of soft robots. Initial design proposals based on the proposed acoustic method are presented, and challenges in further development are highlighted. 展开更多

Scheme one needs a single processor and uses an extended Kalman filter. The second scheme needs two parallel processors. One processor uses a hatched leastsquare initial state estimator and a high-precision dynamic state propagator. The other processor uses a real-time orbit predictor. Simulations have been executed respectively for three types (low/medial/high) of satellite orbits on which various numbers of stars are observed. The results show both schemes can autonomously determine the orbits with a considerable performance. The second scheme in general performs a little better than the first scheme. 展开更多

In this paper,the authors applied the strength-reduction finite element method (FEM) to several design cases of anti-slide piles. Using this method,it is possible to take the pile-soil interactions into consideration,obtain reasonable resistance in front of pile and the distributions of thrust and resistance,and reasonable lengths of anti-slide piles. In particular,the thrust and resistance imposed on embedded anti-slide piles can be calculated and composite anti-slide pile structures such as anchored piles and braced piles can be optimized. It is proved through the calculation examples that this method is more reliable and economical in the design of anti-slide pile. 展开更多

The objective of the whole-spacecraft vibration isolation (WSVI) system is to reduce the launch-induced dynamic loads and the quality control cost of the satellite and its components, and to increase the launch reliability by insertion of isolators between the satellite and the launch vehicle. A niche hybrid genetic algorithm (NHGA) is proposed to optimize stiffness and damping of the isolators. Through the comparison of the frequency response analysis results, it shows that the optimized WSVI system more effectively reduces spacecraft axial / lateral response due to the broadband structure-born launch environment. At the same time, the case of the whole-spacecraft vibration isolation optimization design demonstrates the efficiency and validity of the genetic algorithm. 展开更多

HDNBS: An approach for search in decentralized and unstructured P2P

Search algorithm is the major component of the distributed system and its efficiency also does influence the systems performance. However the flooding-based query algorithm used in Gnutella produces huge traffic and does not scale well. Gnutella-like P2P topology has power-law characteristic, so a search algorithm was proposed based on high degree nodes of power-law network, High Degree Nodes-Based Search (HDNBS). Extensive simulation results show that this algorithm performs on power-law networks very well, achieves almost 100% success rates, produces O(logN) messages per query and can locate target file within O(lagN) hops. 展开更多

The results showed that the lipase activity was stable when the volume fraction of olive oil was 25% and the temperature was at 40℃ with PH=7.5. Under the proper conditions, the effects of anionic and nonionic surfactants were investigated. The effect of nonionic surfactants on the activity of lipase was less than that of anionic surfactants. Finally, the analysis method was used to determine the activity of the lipase in the commercial detergent products. The results showed that the method can be used for the determination of lipase activity in both liquid detergent and laundry powder. However, the temperature and pH value of the detergent solution should be controlled strictly during the conduction of the determination. 展开更多

The steel plate shear wall system has been used in a number of buildings as an innovative lateral force resistant system.Openings often exist in the steel plate shear walls due to the various functional requirements of structures.These openings may negatively impact the lateral stiffness of steel plate shear walls.Therefore,an experimental research was instituted to investigate the seismic behavior of steel plate shear walls,with and without openings.The experimental results showed that steel plate shear walls have the satisfying seismic behavior,and,as expected,the strength and stiffness characteristics of the walls were reduced due to openings.Then a single-story wall panel FE model and an analytical deep beam model are developed in order to find the critical factors dominating the thickness reduction coefficient of wall panels with the opening.Furthermore,extensive parametric analysis is conducted to derive a simplified formula for the determination of the thickness reduction coefficient of wall panels with the opening for substituting solid wall panels with reduced thickness for actual wall panels with the opening.Finally,the design method for calculating the lateral stiffness is verified by some experimental programs and recommended for the routine practice of steel plate shear walls. 展开更多
