Concrete in reinforced concrete structure (RC) is generally under significant compressive stress load. To guarantee required quality and ductility, various tests have to be conducted to measure the concrete’s compres...Concrete in reinforced concrete structure (RC) is generally under significant compressive stress load. To guarantee required quality and ductility, various tests have to be conducted to measure the concrete’s compressive strength based on ACI (American Concrete Institute) code. Investigations of recent devastating collapses of structures around the world showed that some of the collapses directly resulted from the poor quality of the concrete. The lesson learned from these tragedies is that guaranteeing high quality of concrete is one of the most important factors ensuring the safety of the reinforced concrete structure. In order to ensure high quality of concrete, a new method for analyzing and evaluating the concrete production process is called for. In this paper, the indices of fit and stable degree are proposed as basis to evaluate the fitness and stability of concrete’s compressive strength. These two indices are combined to define and evaluate the quality index of the compressive strength of concrete. Prin-ciples of statistics are used to derive the best estimators of these indices. Based on the outcome of the study, a concrete compres-sive strength quality control chart is proposed as a tool to help the evaluation process. Finally, a new evaluation procedure to assess the quality control capability of the individual concrete manufacturer is also proposed.展开更多

Objective:The lack of a simple criterion for gastric carcinoma creates a persistent challenge for clinicians trying to provide patients with useful prognostic information.The aim of this study was to identify baseline...Objective:The lack of a simple criterion for gastric carcinoma creates a persistent challenge for clinicians trying to provide patients with useful prognostic information.The aim of this study was to identify baseline prognostic factors,and use this information to establish a simple criterion to predict outcome in gastric carcinoma.Methods:Between 2005 and 2010, 155 patients with gastric carcinoma,were enrolled.Clinicopathologic prognostic factors were evaluated by univariate and multivariate analysis.Results:Of the 155 patients,48(30.9%)died.Three independent poor prognostic factors were identified by multivariate analysis:gross type>or=3(hazard ratio[HR],1.564;95%CI,1.067 to 2.294),peritoneal dissemination (HR,3.750;95%CI,1.760 to 7.989)and lymphatic duct invasion(HR,3.578;95%CI,1.422 to 9.004).One point was added for each category among three independent prognostic factors.Prognostic score(PS)was determined by an aggregate of these points for each category.There existed a significant difference between survival of patients with PS 0 or 1 and 2(P< 0.0001).Conclusion:Three poor prognostic factors were identified and a simple criteria was devised.Information from this analysis can be used to predict prognosis of gastric carcinoma with a strict stratification.展开更多

In this paper, in order to find a hy- poxia adaptability evaluation criterion, the heart rate and SaO2 signals are analyzed by this method. The demarcate exponent about fit-good-group and fit-bad-group in hy- poxia and normal air are calculated and compared. The result shows a is different in different situation, the α in hypoxia is much higher than α of breath in normal air. And α of fit-good-group is higher than fit-bad-group. It shows that DFA could be a good criterion to analyze hypoxia adaptability, which is useful in the analysis of hypoxia phys- iology signal.展开更多

State test results...The purpose of this research is to identify and examine the achievement gaps between students. Over the past thirty years, emphasis has been placed on achievement levels of students in this country. State test results, SAT Scores, ACT scores and other assessment instruments have been used to determine performance standards and test results for students. Data analyzed for White students compared to African American and Hispanic students have provided critical information in identifying academic progress and skill deficits for all students. This article will highlight some of the achievement gaps which exit among White, African American and Hispanic Students. Recommendations will also be emphasized to help improve student achievement levels in an effort to close the achievement gap.展开更多
