A new joint decoding strategy that combines the character-based and word-based conditional random field model is proposed.In this segmentation framework,fragments are used to generate candidate Out-of-Vocabularies(OOV...A new joint decoding strategy that combines the character-based and word-based conditional random field model is proposed.In this segmentation framework,fragments are used to generate candidate Out-of-Vocabularies(OOVs).After the initial segmentation,the segmentation fragments are divided into two classes as "combination"(combining several fragments as an unknown word) and "segregation"(segregating to some words).So,more OOVs can be recalled.Moreover,for the characteristics of the cross-domain segmentation,context information is reasonably used to guide Chinese Word Segmentation(CWS).This method is proved to be effective through several experiments on the test data from Sighan Bakeoffs 2007 and Bakeoffs 2010.The rates of OOV recall obtain better performance and the overall segmentation performances achieve a good effect.展开更多

This, however, fails to embrace a unanimous acceptation by scholars thereafter and the debates over linguistic signs in terms of arbitrariness and motivation, due to the regrettably understood terms, have imbued the development of linguistics, nurturing a myriad of sustainably productive branches in linguistic studies. Based on refreshing interpretation of the key terms, the paper adopts an integrative and dialectical approach to linguistic signs and argues that arbitrariness is more a matter of degree than one of presence or absence, hopefully to bring home that duality as whole features linguistic signs fundamentally.展开更多
Bilingual children＇ s word awareness can reflect the impact of bilingualism on language cognition from the aspect of psycholinguistics. The current studies on bilingual children＇s word awareness both at home and abr...Bilingual children＇ s word awareness can reflect the impact of bilingualism on language cognition from the aspect of psycholinguistics. The current studies on bilingual children＇s word awareness both at home and abroad show that there exist quite opposite points of views： bilingual disadvantage and bilingual advantage. The interpretation mechanisms of interference effect, word frequency, and mutual exclusivity constraint are used to support the bilingual disadvantage; while the interpretation mechanisms of bilingual advantage include sound coding, short-term memory, and inhibitory control. In effect, there is no negative impact of bilingualism on children＇s word awareness, and the so-called negative effects only exist on the theoretical aspect of research. The development of children＇s word awareness is influenced by many factors including age of acquisition, learning environment, and bilingual proficiency, etc.展开更多
Iron Maiden is one of the leading bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal （NWoBHM）. The song lyrics of the first three albums deal, among other things, with the usual topics the youth of the time were concerned...Iron Maiden is one of the leading bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal （NWoBHM）. The song lyrics of the first three albums deal, among other things, with the usual topics the youth of the time were concerned with （love, rebellion and resistance against the establishment）, although they were viewed from a different angle： instead of love the lyrics talk about prostitution （Charlotte the Harlot）, sexual harassment （Prowler）, and juvenile criminality （Running Free）. This paper aims, on the one hand to show an overview of the topics of the song lyrics from the earlier Iron Maiden albums, and on the other hand to examine the concrete consequences the lyrics had on the music of the band （text interpretation）. During the 1980s, Iron Maiden began to diverge both musically （in the direction of experimental heavy metal） and thematically （among others, science fiction and war） from the NWoBHM. A further aim of this paper is to examine how much these new themes in the narrative influenced the music of Iron Maiden.展开更多
